Thanks for the review of the Onefinity Elite Foreman. I am a CNC machinist who has programed and ran CNC equipment for 35+ yrs and I am about to retire. I love the CNC machining and recently started to do wood working. I want to get into the woodworking craft once I retire for a little side income since I enjoy my field so much. I looked at many of the machines out there but this oneinfinity has really caught my attention. I have watched many reviews of the various name brands out there but this may be the one I get for just the reasons I know is true. You need a rigid machine to perform smoothly and accurately over the long term. The controller of this machine is more like the ones I use in a CNC machine shop so I will have no problem using it. This machine is at the top of my list for the one to buy if you want to make a business out of woodworking craft. There are tons of projects out there that will sell very well that can be batched out on this machine. Size does mater and a 4x4 machine has the capability to save time and money in the long run. I think the next best machine out there is the Shapeoko 5 Pro 4x4. Its more for the newbie person who wants to get into CNC machining but never ran or programed a CNC before. I am at "DAY ONE" and I watched your video. It was good . . . in what you covered, but what you did not cover leaves me scratching my head. First, you mention Vectric Pro. Obviously software but how do I get it and how do I start to use it? Additionally, you mention that your WiFi is connected to your Onefinity. How do I do that? On "DAY ONE", none of this is done, in my world. Do I need a software package on my desk top or Laptop computer, in order to select and download a file? I want to make guitar bodies and I assume there are already good files, in existence, that I could use. How would I go about getting a file like that and then inputting it into my Onefinity CNC? Here I stand on "DAY ONE", having watched the video, and I am still wondering how to start.
@TradeSkillersAnonymous4 ай бұрын
Hi there. First, I would say that your observations are noted. Would’ve been a rather long video to include all the items you mentioned, but for your benefit I’ll try to clear it up here. I chose to use Vectric Vcarve pro. Google that, you can buy it right from their website and download. However, there are other software choices for running your CNC. Before buying any, I’d recommend downloading the trial versions and see which one is most intuitive to you. In addition to vectric, there is carveco, carbide create and others. I’d recommend you search KZread for CNC router software to use, there are many videos in the topic that you might find useful. At the end of the day, you have to choose one that you like in order to either design your guitars and the resulting gcode files to send to your machine, or manipulate files that you buy from other people, maybe somewhere like etsy. The bottom line is, yes you need a cad/cam software package as I described above. Regarding wifi, it depends on which onefinity machine you have so let me know in a reply and we can go further on that. Lastly, how to go about getting a file into your machine…….? Either design your own, or buy a file and make it how you want it inside the software. The the software can export that design file as g-code that your onefinity can read. Either by a usb stick, or internet connection, send that gcode file to the machine. Now, having said all that, if you’ve just gotten your machine and haven’t researched software or how it works, you’ve got some work to do.

I picked one of these up for exactly what your using it for. I figured out that you can turn on the phone flashlight and scan the tool directly. Skip the tree killing and tracing all together! It does create a lot of artifact vector line but once in Aspire I just grab the outside tool shape and discard the rest. It is still very time consuming but feels great to be organized!

@@TradeSkillersAnonymous I'm already subscribed and find your videos very helpful. I have been retired for a year and a half now and now on my second Onefinity machine. I think I work more now than when I was employed! As for the Shaper, not sure they make a bigger size but I am in the process of scanning tool right now and figured out to lay the Shaper frame over top of longer tools i.e. a framing hammer and take pictures of each segment, then stitch it together in Aspire. The critical piece is to use the "Curve Fit" function set to "Bezier" to reduce the points then double check the tool length width and adjust using the "Set selected vector size" function to match the tool. Although the foam is forgiving I am striving for a secure fit. This is a lot of work but it is satisfying to the OCD side of my personality. And its nice to use the space in the toolbox effectively. I used plywood with nylon pull tabs to add a second layer of tools in deep drawers (Using the 70 mm foam to recess tools on the bottom stack completely). Thanks again for the tip! This is the easiest way to get the tool vectors I've seen yet.

Your Makita biscuit joiner slot is pretty loose. You might need to calibrate it. Mine is super tight I have to use pliers to pull them out. There are lots of new woodworker roughly around your age giving bad bias advice . You on the other hand are not in that category.
Good to know! I'll have to look at that calibration, I appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching!
Hi and thank you for great tutorial .
Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful. I invite you to subscribe if you haven't already if you are inclined. Thanks and have a great day!
Hi thanks for great job done , my question is I've been following you on this particular job step by step but my machine i only able to make the roughing part if I try to do the finishing the machine tell me there is nothing in the 3D to work on what do I do? Thanks
What software are you using, and what bits?
Thanks though for prompt reply I've been able to rectify it I'm using vectric aspire
Red oak is commonly used for furniture is more open pore. White oak is stronger commonly used for structures, boats, etc. the grain is tighter, closed pores, and heavier. Looks like red oak to me.
Hi Glenn, I believe you are correct. Either way, the church got to repurpose them into a new use and that was cool! Thanks for watching, and if you care to, I invite you to subscribe while you’re here. Thanks and have a great day!
I saw someone makes adapter so that you can mount 65mm spindle or router onto 80mm mount bracket. Will that solve the 65mm spindle hitting the z axis top? I am thinking of buying a 65mm 1.5 air cooled 110v spindle for an Elite Journeyman. I would love to hear your thoughts. I have only 110v in my garage.
Yeah, that’s probably a solution, I wonder though if it hangs off the gantry too far would it create issues with flew or something?
Great vid. Really liked the way you compared/contrasted the Onefinity CNCs you had.
Hey, thanks! Wasn’t sure how to best show the size differences. Thanks for checking it out, and if you like, feel free to subscribe while you’re here. Have a great day!
@@TradeSkillersAnonymous Sorry if you mentioned this in your previous vids, but did you trade in your original OneFinity?
@@rrr92462 I'm not sure if I did mention it. I did the upgrade program from the wood worker to the journeyman. Bought the elite foreman separately. The original upgraded woodworker/journeyman was sold to another person after the Elite arrived.
Great review. Breakdown is what I needed because of my lack of space. This table can also be used as my fabric cutting table
Glad it was helpful! I’m sure it would work great for fabric cutting as well, good point! If you’d like to, I invite you to subscribe while you’re here. Have a great day!
ok @@TradeSkillersAnonymous
Looking to get this for fabric cutting too. What’s your experience so far? Thanks.
@@Bike_ken while I use mine for woodworking, I imagine it would also work well for any larger format layout work like fabric cutting. Thanks for watching!
Cheap and easy fix for pulling on the wire. Just super glue something light like a bread tie to the magnet case, then you got a light weight handle to pull on, and no loss if it breaks down the road.
Great idea!
Ok JR, I went out last week and picked up the Shaper Trace, man what an amazing item to add to my tool chest! Now customization of projects I’ve been commissioned to build just got way easier!🎉🎉🎉 Thanks for the introduction!
Right on! I love mine Keith! Hope you’re doing well!
truthfully, how long to carve one door?
It’s been a good while since I did this, but I’d guess 30-40 minutes? I tend to use very little step over with the ball nose to avoid sanding
Thanks for the video
Hi Ben, thanks for checking it out and your comment. My pleasure and I hope to be adding more content soon so please feel free to subscribe if you like. Thanks, JR
very nice
Thanks!
That's a great tip, I'll have to check that out! I hope they make one just a bit bigger, maybe 50% or so. Thanks for checking it out, and if you'd like I invite you to subscribe while you're here!
Hi from the 🇬🇧UK 👋 The video is PERFECT for what I am looking for. It’s exactly what I wanted to help me start with drawer fronts. I’ve just built my own kitchen except the drawer fronts. And I am also getting in to CNC I had no idea the software could take a profile like that and simply apply it to a rectangle shape. Very clever. You’ve saved me so much time 🙏
Hi Graham, so glad it was helpful! Best of luck with your kitchen! Thanks for checking it out, and if you'd like I invite you to subscribe while you're here!
I would think you would have wall hooks or dowels to hang the centipede tops on so they cannot get dinged on the floor.
That's a great idea. I've had them on some hooks in the past. They are a bit heavy though! Thanks for checking it out, and if you'd like I invite you to subscribe while you're here!
Great video! I’m looking to buy my first CNC for a side hustle that could turn into something bigger. I’m between 1F and Shapeoko, but def leaning toward the 1F. My biggest concern is will the 1F be harder for a newcomer to figure out than the Shapeoko?
The first week is where 90% of the learning lives. If I were buying one today, I’d get the size I wanted powered by the masso.
Looks like a good value
Thanks for checking it out!
I have no experience with a CNC machine. I am thinking about acquiring a CNC machine. Do you have any recommendations for a newbie to get into using/acquiring a CNC machine?
Tell me a little about how you plan to bring a Cnc into your workflow, what will you be doing with it?
I have no direct ties with onefinity, but after a lot of research they were my pick and they’ve been great machines.
I want to use it primarily for woodworking. I hope to replace much of the need for a bandsaw to produce better wood pieces. I also want to make signs using 3D capabilities.
I have another video, one of my first that was pretty popular where I talk about the selection process that I went through when making the same decision you are. I talk about what I wanted, and what I didn’t want and why I chose a onefinity. I’ll find a link and out it here. It might help.
Have a look at this video Michael, let me know if you have questions. Onefinity CNC Review kzread.info/dash/bejne/i6WrqLimdreac6g.html
I wish this was in HD. Very hard to see. Thanks for the video regardless
Sorry about that
No biggy! I'm getting old, which ruins my eyes and makes me cranky! Great video nonetheless. @@TradeSkillersAnonymous
Great video thanks. Quick question, how much does the 80mm change the cutting area of the Onefinity?
Total area available to cut is the same, it does push the y axis forward by the difference between the 65 and 80mm center point, but you just adjust your spool board if you need to by that same amount. I didn’t do that, just ran it as is. Feel free to subscribe while you’re here, if you like. Thanks!
I love that they created and sell something like this that Isn't proprietary to only their product. Shows a lot of love for their customers
Really is a cool tool to add to the toolbox. Thanks for watching and commenting. Feel free to subscribe if you like!
@@TradeSkillersAnonymous I definitely already am 👍
@@thefilthelement awesome, thank you and I hope to always earn it!
Congratulations to Ian W on winning the @vevor tig welder here in the channel! Thanks to all those who emailed and commented!
Very cool JR! Kinda kicking myself from when it was a kickstarter and I didn’t get one
The shaper trace is a cool little add to the tool kit
Pretty cool, it's on my list. I actually have a gantry CNC and the Shaper Origin Gen2 which I love. I didn't see a link in the vid, but where do you source your foam from?
Directly from fastcap.com
That’s a very interesting tool JR and I so many easy ways to use the files that were created, thanks for the Share!
Thanks for watching Keith!
