My Adventure Moto

My Adventure Moto

Join me as I share my passion for all things 2 wheeled. Whether it's riding on the road, or down some local trails... or even a longer weekend adventure ride. Riding, and product is what I'll be talking about. All things motorbikes.

I am by no means a bike expert, it's just my hobby, the thing I love.

Having ridden bikes for years, and having many different types, I have finally settled on what I THINK will be my go to. A dual sport Adventure bike, this thing rips. Along with that, having an Enduro in the garage too makes for some pretty fun weekends.

Thank you for sharing this video. I live in Buenos Aires (Argentina), state in which you may find plenty of long routes to take with this beautiful bike oriented towards pavement (which, by the way, is being assembled in the country nowadays). So this is a great job you´ve done.

Love your vid ❤ Bought one in may 2022 V2S T enduro now sold … same bike exactly as you are on.. I did 6750 miles in two years absolutely loved it ,does everything really well .. touring two up plenty of power your video just hits the nail on the head .. oh dear why did I sell it Nostalgic moment 10/10 for this bike just handles really well … but only criticism is it’s very top heavy at a stop … I pick up the new BMW S1000 XR next week Hope I done the right thing Ash

Nice review, I know a lot of reviewers dislike all the instrument buttons, but I guess as an owner you would learn their position after a short while and then you don’t need to go fiddling with the display 😜

Nice review. You indicate the V2S is expensive so you would consider the V4, the caveat is he V4 is another $10k! I decided to go for the V2S over the V4, V4 power is overkill for public roads. I added the spoked wheels to do some light off road. I had a 2022 Pikes Peak, amazing bike; however, it's heavier, can't do any off-road and super expensive!

I’ve got a 2016 with DCT and love it. Had it for 6 years (I had four other bikes at the time). I ride Forest roads, dirt roads, and street all over Oregon. I solo disperse camp in no man’s land. Love the DCT (49 years of continuous riding) owned 36 other bikes through the years. I do carry a “Moto Jack” with me that I’ve had to use it. 😂🎉 27,xxx miles and still going strong. It takes a good month to really understand the DCT and maximize its capabilities. I with they had a AT 500cc with DTC!

Hey there, get the GPS mount from Touratech. If you like carplay, it's best to go with a dongle to make it wireless. A bit tricky to set up, but once it is, it just works. Safe riding always.

I agree that adventure bikes have more to offer but it's not easy to explain why to people who generally steer clear of them. I think if you like to travel about seeing things and have a bike that is fun too, then something like the Ducati Multi is just right in my experience. I'm just shuffling money around now to build enough of a pot to get one of the Ducati V4s bikes but need to go test ride one. I had the 1260S twin before the pandemic and that was an amazing bike for a mix of things it could do.

I was selling my Tenere 700 to get this, but only in the last week the price went up drastically. And the availibility is not any sooner than October 2023. And we cannot even pay the whole fee and freeze the bike price. There is no telling how much it will end up being all the way down in November. I don't care so much for the fuel guzzling attribute which is not so bad for this. Nor the desmo service which is only once every 30,000km's. But the base price is crazy. And about to get crazier. So I might decide to get a BMW F750GS, Tiger 900 or Tracer 900 instead. Wish they still made the legendary Yamaha Fazer 600/800's.

I own a 2020 Africa Twin DCT (non-AS). This is my first adventure bike - I used to ride a Triumph Daytona 675r and a Kawasaki z800 previously. It's certainly heavy but all that weight magically disappears as soon as you get it moving. It's deceptive in a weird way - be cautious. I do however love the stability & ride quality. The DCT on this gen of AT (with the 6 axis IMU) are lovely & intuitive. I'd say 80-90% of the times, the bike is in the correct gear. The low end torque is addictive - no Supersport by any measure, but for a 40+ guy, this is plenty. The riding posture is very relaxed & the built quality is right on the money. After suffering from a bad slipped disc, this is possibility the most comfortable I've felt riding on a motorcycle. So far, I'm loving it. Yes - it's probably a a boring Honda (as many would say) - but this is all the bike that I need & its capabilities far surpass what I will ever demand from it. No premium fuel etc required - this would happily accept as low as 87 octane which is insane (should your adventures ever take you far & beyond).

Just seeing your message after reading the comments. I have a gen 1 daytona 675 that I have not used very much and as ai am getting older I want something comfier and able for long trips. Are you still happy with the bike and how was the change from the 675’s power to the Africa twin’s power?

  • @BhaskarDeva
    @BhaskarDeva2 ай бұрын

@@hulkhogan9450 I absolutely miss my 675R. But the AT is wayyyy more comfy to ride on longer hauls. Personally, I do miss the drama. The Honda is just a bit dull on that front. But it sure makes up for that with reliability. What would intimidate the most is the size and weight compared to a supersport. No getting around that. To be honest even a Transalp 750 would suffice for long comfy rides. The AT comes into its own when the tarmac ends.

Having to wire a phone to a vehicle in order to get it working with Android Car or whatever is a PITA though: I have this in my Astra: there's a socket that can be used to charge the phone but the cubby it's in is just that little bit too small to fit a modern Android phone, and there's nowhere else to put it. What I've found is you plug it in, the vehicle's system recognises it, you put the phone where it needs to go & something disturbs the plug ever so slightly so the vehicle thinks it's no longer plugged in, so you pick the thing up & reseat the plug, put it back & it's unplugged again... I've given over using it since for most trips I do know where I'm going, but imagine that with a bike with wind and potholes jiggling the whole thing about. Once they get it onto Bluetooth only it'll be alright but forcing a wired connection, ugh, huge PITA.

As far as GPS mounts go there's nothing stock but you can get ones from Givi & Quadlock - my standard AT came (bought used) with a Givi crossbar mount that goes just above the TFT screen, but the previous owner had removed the clip part where your GPS or phone mounts. As it happens, Quadlock were having a sale over Christmas last year so I got their wing mirror mount, which goes perfectly well with the Givi crossbar, so I can have my GPS on my phone directly above the TFT - and no need for it to be using Android Mobile or whatever it's called.

I suffer from carpel tunnel in both hands and also have a pinched nerved in my shoulder which travels down my left arm after multiple surgeries I can no longer ride my 2 x YZF R6's (2006 & 2019) without excruciating pain and so have moved on to Africa DTC. I am just so happy this bike lets me be on 2 wheels again.

There's nothing about this bike that would tempt me away from my 890 Adventure R. Neither would I consider replacing it with the top heavy Africa Twin. Both may be nice bikes but neither fits the bill for a mid capacity adventure bike like the KTM.

It has not got a GPS mount because it has carplay which uses the main TFT screen as your GPS display. That is why you have the lower rudimentary display, so u can see your speed while you have the GPS displayed above.

I have a 2019 AT DCT. Bought it new and it's just brilliant. No, you can't do power wheelies in 3rd gear like on a GS1250 but there is plenty of grunt to get a wriggle on and it's more than fast enough for me. I love the sound, the look, riding position etc. Tyre choice is important to get the best out of it.

How do you find the AR just been out on 890 A didn't have the R at SMC Sheffield. Liked it , found the wind noise a bit much after 60mph. Been test riding a few recently the Tiger, the Desert X, Yamaha, has a sit on the Taureg. Angling towards the Ducati but still had bad wind noise with fixed screen. Two questions, what's the AR like for wind noise and how's the Airoh Helmet? Thanks
