Varys’s castration is an important part of his character because he, as a eunuch, cannot be serving his own desires. He cannot have a legacy or bloodline. A man may vie for the throne in the hopes of starting a dynasty, but a eunuch serves someone else’s dynasty. In this case, Faegon, who may very well be his nephew

3:37 it's quite common for lords and noblemen to not now how to read, I can't remember who says it, but one character says something like most lords don't even read their letters, they let the maesters read the letters to them instead.

The majority of modern-day Spain was inhabited by Celts prior to Roman occupation. Also, bullfighting was deeply rooted in Greco-Roman culture, and was prolific all around the Mediterranean at one point in time--Spain just held onto the tradition a good while longer than everybody else. I'm not trying to nit-pick, I'm just saying the idea of bullfighting Celts isn't really that big of a stretch.

Hiding people in the crypt full of dead corpses that could easily be re-animated by the enemy was the most bone headed decision in the finale.

The boltons are the ecample of why the southerners sees the northerners as savages, heathen and untrustworthy martial people, ned was the exception of the exception since even the old starks was prolly like the Bolton's in their cruelty and display of violence. And the boltons are extremely loyal, guys was vassals of the starks for thousand of years with just three major rebellion in the count, by the time of ned they are example vassals

Facing an opponent that is capable and willing to do absolutely anything and everything, with no regards towards human lives won't only have a huge advantage but also most definetely always win. The north refused to "sink down to their level" while tywin had a "the end justify the means" mentallity. Would you rather risk loosing and forfeit your life and those of your comrades but knowing that whatever you did was at least honorable or do whatever to win and increase your chances considerably, if you're losing the end result for you will be the same either way. Taking the high road isn't always the best option, going with a logical and pragmatic approach it definetely isn't. You have nothing to win, only lose. Might as well try to win with whatever you have at your disposal.

I love the book version more, because the show Varys promote the message that the person who cut's off the children tongs is actually a pretty good man who simply had to do what he do. While the book Varys make as much damage as Litlfinger and potentially could have done more and still can. After all, Dotraki invasion, potential second Dance of the dragons and multiple assassination attempts on Dany(only one of which was fake just to provoke Dotraki) all of this was he's ideas.
