This sooo helpful and to the point thanks!!! :)
What material did you use for the grill frame?
The grill was just the basic black grill cloth option on a guitar amp parts website. If you search for guitar amp grill cloth, you should be able to find a few sites that sell them.
@@AaronMatthies thanks, I was meaning the frame material. Is that square dowel?
Ah, my mistake. Yes it was basically just square timber I found approx 1inch/25mm wide. You can pretty much use anything, just make sure you plan out the depth of the grill when making the amp so it won't stick out of the front.
I'm gonna buy a creamback speaker and run it through an origin 50 with the most annoying hi gain distortion pedal. My git fiddle's gonna be a custom gibson V knock off with a single P90. Thanks for the ideas man. looks like a great project.
thank you so much <3
Thank you Aaron for doing all this work. its a great kit, and if i had followed your instructions better i would have built it and it would have worked first time (I got the IC's in the wrong places, and it took me 2.5 hours to troubleshoot). the Wish kit is very comprehensive, down to the pre-cut and tinned wires, and the fully marked resistors and other components.
Well explained!
As with others, lot of the issues are with focus rite. This video cleared things up enough for me to plug into it again. 6 months after i got it for Christmas 😢 and couldn't handle it.
how to monitor my record? i can't hear my guitar
Which quality is better? Record amp with mic, or audio interface through laptop?
Once you learn how to use them, great quality is possible with either option. I'd suggest thinking about other aspects such as the flexibility of changing amp settings after recording (audio interface), if you're able to record your amp at full volume without neighbors complaining (mic), or if you want to use different amp tones compared to what physical amps you own.
This was an excellent video for a noob like me! Clear instructions that don't assume I know anything.
Thank you
Damn can't enable inputs or outputs. UA just shows me sample rates.
You need a guitar or input interface so your computer can recognize it and also you will have low latency and better sound
Will these methods allow me to listen to KZread videos on my pc with my headphones and play my guitar and have it come through my headphones as well? I don’t need to record, I just want play back to jam with my music without losing volume
That can be done, but it might take a bit of messing around to find the drivers that work for your system. Search for "DAW and KZread same time" and at least one of those videos should work for you.
can you tell me what's the wattage of your solder pen plz ? thanks
It's not labelled but I think it was around 60W. For soldering guitar pedals, I feel buying an adjustable soldering iron is worth it. You can dial in the temperature to suit what you're working on.
Great video! How should I connect a iRig HD X to a PC? Do I need the PC to have a USB C input? Or should I get another cable that is USB C to USB to connect it to the PC? Thank you
Plugging into any USB port should be fine - it doesn't have to be a USB C on your PC end.
@@AaronMatthies thank you for the response. I will try
Very cool video, appreciate the effort that went into the cabinet and indeed the video 👍🏻🎸🤘
I would have thought MDF would be a better choice than plywood.
MDF is cheap and easy to work with, but the main downsides is that it'll make the cab far heavier and weaker than one with plywood. If you want a cab for gigging, I wouldn't recommend MDF as it won't hold up to getting knocked around.
Can I use smartphone in place of computer
Yes, there are audio interfaces you can buy that are compatible with smartphones. Check out the iRig range by IK Multimedia and the RIFF by Positive Grid as a couple of starting points.
In am recoding before adding amplitude 4 but i get latency any solution for fx with record ????
Thank you for the video Sir, when I choose ASIO input and focusrite usb output, there is no output audio. Then how can I hear the output sound from my PC?
If you choose Focusrite USB output as your output, you will only hear an output when you plug speakers into the Focusrite's output jacks. To hear the output on your PC, you need to use a driver such as ASIO4ALL and select your PC's output instead.
5:20 i can’t hear my guitar through the speakers, i’ve messed around a bunch in computer settings but can’t figure it out. any advice?
I tried to recreate this on Chrome Music Lab's Music Maker and it doesn't sound quite like this, even in the correct key. It's frustrating.
duuuuude thank you so much , legend
Fantastic guide, I can’t wait to get started.
Great tutorial....its really helps a lot.. Thanks man.. Keep upload more of this videos 🙏
Is it possible to install a 8 ohm speaker in a 16 ohm cabinet?
Fantastic
I used to be able to record direct in from my amp into my headphone/microphone jack. Is that not an option anymore??
Thank you Aaron Matthias. Very well explained..The best video i have seen !
Well done great video
It would have looked better if you clearcoated it
Thank you!
Awesome video. My only question, when you install the frame that has the grill cloth, how do you get it to stay in place? Glue? I'd imagine you have more than just the piping holding it in, but i could always be wrong!
If you get your measurements right when building the frame, the piping will firmly hold it in place. As I chose not to use piping, I inserted a few small wedges to help keep it in place.
I plugged my guitar into boss gt1, and i connected gt1 to computer wth midi cable. I want to use midi guitar app in my computer but sound out put is not from midi guitar app fx. But from gt1 itself. Can anyone help?
Thanks very much for going in detail on the latency/buffer length info!! Very useful.
my audio interface can hear it but i cannot neither can fl studio... wtf
Thank you!! I don't happen to hear my guitar in the computer, even though the program is detecting the signal as the green level indicators raises when I play, how can I fix this?
Are you using an audio interface or some other way to connect your guitar? If you're using an audio interface, are you getting audio output from the interface's headphones or main output jacks?
@@AaronMatthies i'm completely new, and don't have earphones for my audio interface, nor monitors 😂 thanks for your time anyways 🫶🏼
Well if you don't have anything connected to the audio interface's output, you won't hear anything. That's how they work by default, the audio output won't go to your computer speakers. The only way to get the output to go to your computer speakers is to use a driver like ASIO4ALL. You can read how to do that in the guide on my website.
In my case, there's distortion, a bit of an ugly boost and that's it. And I waited for this junk for a month to arrive from china. Waste of my time and effort.
Very helpful explanation of choices in non technical terms, thanks
thanks a lot for the videos - it has helped me immensely along with your website. I believe there is a problem with naming of the interval as the intervals are measured from the lowest pitch to the highest so in the harmonic examples in the video and the site the intervals are being measured from highest to the lowest pitch, kindly, correct me if I am wrong. Thanks
Intervals are just the distance between two notes, so you can measure an interval going up (eg: a fifth up from A is E), or going down (eg: a fifth down from A is D). The harmonic examples in this video are labelled correctly. I think using the open A string is causing the confusion as it's the lowest pitch note, but it looks like the 'top' note if you only look at the TAB. The example at 12:30 should make more sense as the notes in the TAB are stacked in order of pitch. Hopefully that makes sense.
@@AaronMatthies thank you for the prompt reply. I think am not able to explain, but I'll try: for instance the example at 6:04 would be a Major6 instead of Minor 3rd as it would have to be measured from the lowest to the highest pitch, if we measure it the other way around it would be an inverse and then it would be Minor 3rd. I am getting this information while practicing interval recognition on an app called tenuto - i was getting the interval names wrong and then I checked music theory interval naming and that's where i got this info. I have learnt a great deal from your site, and I hope I am not sounding like I am preaching someone who know far more than myself.
@@screenchipper I understand what you're explaining. You're right in trying to measure the distance from the lowest pitch note, but you're mistaking which note is the lowest pitch. The lowest pitch note isn't the 8th fret, so if you try to measure up from C to A, you'll end up with the wrong answer (Major 6th). Play each of those two notes at 6:04 (8th fret on the E string and open string on the A string) separately on your guitar and think about which one sounds the lowest pitch. The open A note is the lowest pitch and the 8th fret on the E string (that note is C) is the highest pitch. Measuring up from A to C, is a minor third. Try looking at these two notes in a different way. Imagine instead of playing the open A string, you play the 5th fret on the low E string. Listen to how it sounds, it's the same pitch as the open A string. Now you're comparing the note on the 5th fret to the note on the 8th fret of the same string. This makes it clear that it's only 3 frets apart, so it must be a minor 3rd interval.
@@AaronMatthies Thanks a lot Aaron for taking the time out to explain. I think I kind of get it - since the 5th fret on the Lower E string is in unison with the open A string it is a lower pitch note and therefore it is a minor 3rd interval in the exmaple that we are discussing here. Thank you once again for all the indepth explanations that you put out for free for us , I hope that the subscription to your channel grows manyfold.
@@screenchipper that's right, you've got it. The more you play around with different intervals and try to figure them out on your own, the easier it gets. Having a fretboard diagram with the notes labelled also helps as you can easily count up and down a string to figure out the intervals.
Great video! Do you by any chance still have the stl for the jack plate?
I do. Send me a message at guitargearfinder.com/contact/ and I'll send it to you.
"the type of audio interface you need will depend on the instrument you want to use." Erm... A guitar...?
Electric and acoustic guitars can be recorded in different ways and different interfaces better suit different types of guitars. Also, many people play more than one type of instrument.
Great guide... 👍🏻🤘🏼
THE BEST FX LOOP EXPLANATION! I watched a bunch no one explained where the guitar and front of the amp cables go. Obvious if you already know but this guy explained it perfectly with visuals. Very good top quality video. Thanks for taking the effort to do it well.
Please help!!!! 🥲... I can't find my Irig option on my audio input/output
Will this work if your guitar is connected to a pedal?
mine doesnt show up like that, when i go to slots, i have to click "find more plugins" to see all my plugins or vsts. pls help
help it just deletes my file when i scan for it
i wish i had a list of the components
