I remember the styrofoam straw hat and arm band Mom wore as a Tallstacks volunteer. :) Sheil E Martin with Kilgore, chapter 3 I think.

I was Als Spotlight Report one Sunday night in the 70s! I drove my car through the St. Bernard tunnel under the railroad tracks by Proctor & Gamble! Ofcourse my car got stuck. I was only trying to take a shortcut! But it was a walking tunnel, not for trafic. I never lived it down. People, for years later would say, Your the lady who drove through the tunnel! I was famous for awhile! I wasnt very proud.

Loved picture of the famous (Market Square) fountain with (river?) water coming out of the palms. My mother discovered the overgrown grave of General Finney when we were out walking (Finneytown) about 1947 and it got cleaned up and maintained. 😊 We lived in Parkview Heights. Rod Sterling lived in Finneytown too and said it was magical.

I met Al once at the McDonalds in Harrison Ohio. The first impression was what a sharp dresser he was. The suit was one of the nicest I've seen in a long time. Also, if I remember correctly, he was incredibly short. We exchanged nods and smiles. He seemed like a decent sort of fellow. Now, Uncle Al (different Al) used to party on my parent's house boat on the Ohio River when I was a kid. I believe I was on his show once. It was not a pleasant experience. Him and Wendy ended up retiring near a town where we had bought a farm. I saw him quite regularly in the local Chinese restaurant owned by a mutual friend. Running into Wendy was always a joy but Uncle Al, not so much. May he rest in peace.

And the fact that they closed over an unpaid water bill...I go there today to Greater Cincinnati Water Works who has its own interesting history itself to pay my water bill.....love finding out tidbits of info like this!

I still have my VHS (someplace) of this in my old VHS collection. Do you have any archives for Mid-City development or the Reading Road Corridor from downtown to Galbraith Rd, and films or aerial photos of Cincinnati neighborhoods BEFORE residential subdivisions were built? Any reports on the grand opening of SWIFTON SHOPPING CENTER, construction of SWIFTON VILLAGE and the first Woodward high school building on Reading Road and what was there before Woodward was built?
