I feel like Sonic Generations looks far more impressive than Lost World and Forces, which shouldn't make sense, considering they were developed for stronger (debatable for Lost World) consoles. I don't know why. It's not just the art style either, its both the art style and the pure objective level of detail- it's a 2011 game but even just playing it on a PC in 1080p+ makes it look drop dead gorgeous. I feel like towards the end of the 7th gen we saw a good amount of games like that. That's around the same time I started actually getting into consoles and the first time I saw my cousins playing this game and Portal 2 on my oldest cousin's PS3 it looked just like real life to me, who had my brother's old ass game boy color. Good memories. Looking forward to the new shadow content in the rerelease :)

I would say it is most definitely because of the art style. Forces and especially lost world opt for a very "kiddy" toy-like styles with low levels of detail and simple lighting. Sonic generations and unleashed have art styles that are just nicer to look at regardless of actual fidelity. Forces has a pretty impressive lighting system because it runs on hedgehog engine 2, but that means nothing when the actual assets and art direction are lame

Force’s lighting hard carries but it’s textures are extremely flat and solid, Lost World mostly just looks flat artistically and the environments are not nearly as detailed, both game’s backgrounds are also just empty and distant, Forces was rushed and Lost World tried to out-Mario Mario. Frontiers definitely looks at lot better but the switch held it back probably the same with Forces.

Default game movement is much slower and includes a boost mechanic. This mod just removes the hardcaps on acceleration I'm pretty sure.
