In Japan it is labor slavery. In a normal country you change it as many times as you want. If someone doesn't like it. This is called mental freedom, which 2 billion people across Asia do not have.

It goes the other way too, I thought I could "ganbatteru" myself into speaking Japanese in 6 months. No chance and I hate all these videos that promote these ideas. It took three years and 今でも何か不自然な表現いっぱい出ちゃう. But at least I can speak it fluently and people understand what I say, even if I use unnatural expressions at times. Your English sounds perfect btw! It takes time to learn languages.

Definetly, living in a speaking country of the language you're learning is a whole new ballgame. You'll have to interact with a lot of different people with different backgrounds. And you cannot control most of the things that happen around you. And people will ask you for clarification and you'll be in a lot of uncomfortable situations. On the other hand, when you're at home you simply listen to what you want. Talking isn't something you need to do. But still we could recreate an abroad enviroment ourselves with a lot of work.

Thank you for your videos. I think that watching videos of two persons talking to each other is very useful for leaning fast. I learned a lot from Friends, Seinfeld, and Impractical jokers. That was my learning with fun.

I agree that you need to listen to someone that is accessible but provides a challenge. Lots of learners say they can understand their teacher but struggle with other native speakers, this is why KZread is ideal, because of the variety on offer, you can find somebody that you vibe with, that you can understand but that also challenges you. (Congrats on the amazing channel growth btw🙂)
Movies and Music definitely help But KZread and Podcasts are by far the best tools to learn any language I learned English by just watching videos about videogames or other stuff that I have interest

Personally, I love using subtitles to better my foreign language study especially for both video and movies. Luckily, I found out Abt Immersive translate and it has been a life saver since it generates subtitles for both videos and movies in any foreign language.

While your explanation makes sense, what’s worked for me in the long run is actually shows and movies. I use Immersive Translate to help supplement my language learning process, and it has worked out great so far. I use it to watch Netflix every day, and have already learned a lot, which is really great.

I don't see a lot of people talking about KZread as an effective learning method. (maybe because many KZreadrs only talk about products from companies that sponsor the video haha) Usually people talk about KZread like, "if you don't have money for XYZ then KZread is a free alternative..." I spent money on all kinds of language stuff before but actually KZread is the thing that works best for me. I think watching non native English speakers that speak at a high level (like you!) is the best way to practice listening (and also shadowing). Some people think they have to only watch native speakers but I disagree - I watch both. When I watch native speakers I have try harder to understand but when I watch non native speakers I can pay attention to the details. It's like what you said about just finding what you like to listen to. The most important thing is spending a lot of time with the language so whatever you will spend a lot of time watching is great. For me that's KZread and not movies and shows. I like watching real people talking about real life in a natural way. I make playlists on KZread and listen all the time. Sometimes I sit at a desk and watch and listen very closely and try to learn new things but usually I just listen to my playlists when I'm doing other things.

I believe that's the best way to improve your pronounciation, but if you want to improve your listening, then in that case it would be better to listen to challenging audios. Movies and everything you don't understand at all.

I think it's good to learn 'connected speech' from the point of view of being able to understand native speakers but I'm not so convinced you should be encouraging learners to use it themselves when they speak. After all, it's a form of slang and not always appropriate. But it's good to cover that area of speaking.

You are not right, girl mentioning the psychological asdpect of lack of confidence. Don't you know that if you talk to a non native speakers you consume all grammar mistakes they make, and believe me, there are a lot of grammar mistakes as well as pronunciation errors non native-speakers commit all the time.

Why is she not right? Don't you see she speaks English well after what she did? You are saying "Don't you know blah blah blah," but she talked about that in the video. lol She clearly knows that! And if what you say is true, then we should never make friends who make mistakes! We should never take a language class because other students make mistakes and you will copy their language instead of the teacher's correct language...
