OWANAPAEDIA: The Treasury of Uganda’s History
What is this new information powerhouse you know as OwanaPaedia and to which you are now glued?
It is the brainchild of Mzee Tony Geoffrey Owana, who swears to keep the history of Uganda before you to enable you make informed choices and decisions. Owana is a keen student of Uganda’s modern history and this being 2020, he has clocked only 35 years in journalism.
Powered by Owanatone Ltd of the scissors trademark, OwanaPaedia’s mission is to Inform, Educate and Entertain, but only with facts and expert opinion. We do this through vintage film, tape and photographs we have saved from ruin over the years and which we gladly share with the rest of the world. OwanaPaedia is convinced that without History as your guide, you have a really great future….BEHIND YOU!! We shall take you back to pre-independence times and return you to the last decade, thereby curing any deadly amnesia that might have crept into you.

Yoweri Museveni you were killing Ugandans who were in your NRA and did not support the way you were executing the war. Instead you lie to Ugandans that they did this and that, how did you find that, in a Cangaroo court of the NRA?

Already am hearing half truths and I have barely started listening to this mzee. TZ was not against Amin because he was not a good person. Nyerere was against him coz he was a threat to their country. He even occupied the Kagera region in TZ hence the hatred against him. Trying to paint him.otherwise has other motives and chief of them Is to explain the Congo invasion. NRA was the main culprits in killings against Ugandans and mostly, just like their Rwandan cousins, they killed and pinned it on Amin soldiers.

Your good leader your excellence, but Ugandans can't realize now but they will appreciate later, your leadership has made Uganda a power house rather than failed state, but my advice make a good succession plan in your absence for over lasting peace in Uganda like mwl Nyerere

@@blawrencesuper9944 can you indicate what was the economy of Uganda from 1980 to 1986. Stop making the lies of NRA/M when there is no record that shows that the economy of Uganda had collapsed. The economy of the country from 1981 to 1986 was being destroyed by Museveni and his NRA/M. They were lucky that the Baganda supported them untill they came and took power when they were actually committing criminal offence. Let me tell you that I read a report where the economy of Uganda was reported to be increasing by 5.5% every year despite the NRA war. Yes if the war was not there, today Uganda would be in a different level. At that time we had public transport like Public buses, Uganda railway that was traveling from Kasese to Packwach. We had Uganda Air line own by the citizens of Uganda. Jinja industries were all working producing goods for the citizens of Uganda. We had Banks own by Ugandans not from any other countries like Kenya and South Africa or US and Europe. Those banks were Cooperative Bank, Uganda commercial bank and Post office bank. Where are all this today? We had all hospitals having medicine, doctors, nurses etc. If today Uganda is better why are leaders both political and cultural leaders in Uganda go to get treatment out side the country? Why should the daughter of the president go and give birth in Germany? All these nonsense did not happen under Obote I & II including under Idi Amin. Obote was treated in Mulago hosiptal after assassination attempt on his life. The wife of Idi Amin was treated in Mulago hospital. So what good is Uganda today. Now read this report about Uganda economy between 1981 to 1986. Do not forget that it was Museveni and his NRA/M destroying the economy of Uganda in the bushes of Luwero. Read this report, ".....The government attempted to regulate the foreign exchange marketthrough a two-tier pricing system. Essential goods and services were to bepurchased at an official rate, while non-essential goods and services at amarket rate. The system soon broke down because strategically positionedpublic officials could buy on the official rate and sell through the ‘kibanda’or black market. Despite the war, during this four-year period (1981-85)there were some gains. GDP grew by 5.5 per cent and inflation fell to about20 per cent, while the current account was in surplus (Edmonds, 1998). Percapita incomes recovered from a low of US$136 per annum to US$187 perannum and the share of agriculture in GDP fell from 70.5 per cent in 1980 to50.5 per cent in 1985. Yet this first attempt to stabilize and improve economicperformance is largely remembered as a failure because of the continuinginstability. Exports fell from US$415 million in 1980 to US$368 million in1984 while the external debt rose from US$568 million to over US$1 billionin 1985. Inflation had initially been tamed by external aid and reliefassistance, but shot from 47.4 to 156 per cent, between 1983 and 1985."
