    Don't cheap out on your eyes. I went with the Panoptix because I spent years looking for my readers and cleaning dirty glasses. Why, if you don't have to. Save up and have it done. I figured I will be using them for hopefully another 20 years. Divide 20 years, 365 days into that extra cost and see what that is per day for ideal vision and no hunting around for glasses any longer.

    The CREST Study Many eye supplements don’t have Meso-Zeaxanthin as an ingredient, using the rationale that the body creates this carotenoid by converting it from Lutein. Others say there aren’t enough scientific studies on Meso-Zeaxanthin to draw a firm conclusion about its significance. However, over 25 placebo-controlled trials involving supplements with Meso-Zeaxanthin prove its effectiveness. But what about patients who cannot convert Lutein into Meso-Zeaxanthin? Without a supplement that contains Meso-Zeaxanthin, improvement of visual performance and reduction of risk for developing age-related macular degeneration may be severely compromised. Therefore, to realize the benefits of using all three carotenoids, the inclusion of Meso-Zeaxanthin is essential. For that reason, two clinical trials published in 2016 and 2017 show the significant benefits of supplementing with all three macular carotenoids - Meso-Zeaxanthin, Lutein and Zeaxanthin. In the first trial, known as CREST3 (Central Retinal Enrichment Supplementation Trials), the evidence showed that those taking supplements with all three carotenoids improved their visual function - including contrast sensitivity, vision in glare, and reading speed. Then in the second major two-year clinical trial with those diagnosed with the early stages of AMD, CREST AMD4, the results showed that those taking supplements with all three carotenoids improved their visual function - including contrast sensitivity, vision in glare, and reading speed.

    Of the three macular carotenoids in the eye, Meso-Zeaxanthin is the most powerful. It exists at the center of the macula, and studies show that when Meso-Zeaxanthin combines with Lutein and Zeaxanthin, they become even more effective than they are on their own. When they work together, these critical ingredients are useful in rebuilding the macular pigment, screening out harmful blue light, fighting inflammation and reducing oxidative stress in the eyes and brain.

    Numerous studies have investigated the role of dietary nutrients in the development of cataracts or need for cataract surgery [125-130]. Specifically, antioxidants are of interest for their potential role in reducing oxidative damage leading to cataract formation. L and Z are the only carotenoids found within the human lens, although in significantly lower concentrations compared to the retina [131]. Approximately 74% of L and Z are located in the epithelium and cortex, where the lens is exposed to oxygen in the surrounding aqueous humor [132]. Proposed functions include preventing oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in the epithelial cells.

    more recently MZ has been detected in the serum, and supplementation trials have demonstrated a significant increase in macular pigments levels after oral supplement with MZ, suggesting that MZ can be absorbed after oral administration and transported to the macula. Supplementation trials involving L, MZ, and Z suggest that MZ may be absorbed and converted in the retina, as supplementation with high dosages of MZ (10 mg MZ, 10 mg L, and 2 mg Z or 17 mg MZ, 3 mg L, and 2 mg Z) resulted in higher macular pigment levels and higher MZ serum levels than supplementing without MZ (20 mg L and 0.86 mg Z).

    Lutemax 2020 has approximately 13% of zeaxanthin (a mix of (3R, 3′R)-zeaxanthin and (3R, 3′S)-zeaxanthin) while FloraGlo has 2- 9% of zeaxanthin with minimal meso-zeaxanthin.

    higher intake of lutein or zeaxanthin and resulting higher serum or plasma and tissue con-centrations may interfere with beneficial signaling mediated by other carotenoids, as indicated by endogenously relevant b-carotene-mediated retinoid signaling. Proposing recommendations based on single carotenoids without evaluating the entire picture of carotenoid-mediated signaling within the whole organism is preliminary and risky.

    mechanisms controlling the deposition and stabilization of MP are not fully understood. An atypical spatial profile of MP exists in the fovea of some people. This central dip in MP has been proposed to be due to a lack of MZ in these individuals, potentially due to an inability to convert lutein to MZ.

  • @camarosspr
    @camarosspr2 күн бұрын

    Supplementing w Meso-Zeaxantin is required in addition to Lutein and zeaxanthin. AREDS2 doesn't include MZ. Recent work highlighted that enrichment of macular pigment (MP) in patients with early AMD enhances visual function by improving contrast sensitivity, consistent with findings that supplementing with lutein, zeaxanthin, and MZ enhances visual performance in persons with and without retinal disease. increase in MPOD was significantly greater when MZ was included in the supplement. Thus, supplementing with all 3 carotenoids for 12 months, at 20 mg/day total, resulted in the best outcomes in terms of MPOD and visual function. In formulations lacking MZ, up to 25% of study participants exhibited a non response regarding MP levels.

    They should come plastic, petro free. Glass bottle, gravity glass dropper. Plastic water bottles deliver 100,000 plastic toxic petro leaching nano particles. These plastic drops easily 10,000 per bottle. These particles will get everywhere in the eye, retina, cornea, all. Of course no petro ingredients. Deliver thousands leaches quemicals from the plastic bottle.

    Dr. Lee, I had Laser cataract surgery on both eyes. Left eye in December of 2023 and Right eye March of 2024. My right eye is fine but in my left eye all objects are smaller and seem farther away. In addition my left eye is getting blurry and my vision seem to be worsening. I have asked my eye doctor about the small object issue and he says there isn't much he can do about it. I really don't believe I am being told the truth. Please advise

    Dear Dr. Lee, thank you for claryfying the advantages of FLACS in a very logical way. Infact, I was very much interested to get my cataract surgery done with FLACS. But after listening from you I have decided to get my cataract surgery done by Phacoemulsification without FLACS as I am going for Alcon Clareon Vivity IOL (which is not multifocal/trifocal where precise centering is very important according to you) and I don't have astigmatism. Please correct me if my uderstanding/decision is wrong for not opting FLACS. Furthermore, it would be better if you make a video to understand how effectively the power of IOLs are set (except LAL or LAL+) for individuals prior to implanting IOL.

    I had cataract surgery about 8 years ago. And asked for the single lens IOL for distances only, since I only wore glasses for reading. And not to have mono vision lens......but think the doctor did this and I have double vision now. Wish I would have never had cataract surgery. I keep asking the new doctor if this can be fixed with a different lens and he says no. And just keeps putting prism in my glasses, which helps some. Driving is so stressful.

I pray that these post operatives shadows and arcs will go away with time. Following up with the doctor as scheduled, so far no infections and or inflammation. Praying for full recovery as well as my vision( 20/20) using over the counter reading glasses only. No more bifocals.
