excellent video. Made it very clear why i would only be happy with a standard non-premium lens.

I'm a Panoptix user in both eyes, one surgery done in April, the other in August. There is a definite learning and adjusting curve involved, and the most noticeable time is night driving. I've tried to explain my "view" to my wife as this: Bright lights look like the Mercedes emblem on a car with the rings of Saturn in dotted lines around that. I certainly don't mind it, and I find that if a car is coming with bright lights, I can look down to the road off the hood of my car to avoid the worst of the lights. I'm fine with my Mercedes view and the new lack of need for glasses of any kind. Thanks for your video, it will help anybody with questions about lenses.

This is an amazing channel. I love your honesty and being upfront about the risks of cataract surgery. I had severe retinal tearing in my left eye (three tears) in September 2022 and had emergency surgery. I was told, prior to surgery, during the initial consultation appointment and eye tests I had the beginnings of a cataract and having this retinal detachment surgery would speed up the deterioration. I can now hardly see out of my left eye and am awaiting cataract surgery. I wear glasses (varifocals) all the time and very short sighted. It was very interesting to hear and know about the different types of lenses available and which could possibly help. Thank you!

I have the Clareon version of the Vivity EDOF lens in both eyes for about a month and the technology is amazing. My doctor did a "mini-mini-mono" for slightly greater depth of field. Neuro adaptation was instant for me. No glasses required for reading or anything else. No low contrast or glare/halo problems at night. I could see this technology replacing LASIK and PRK surgery since the patient will never have to deal with cataracts in the future.

@@user-pu6sg7ih8r It's been about 4 1/2 months and no contrast or other issues. I don't wear glasses for anything other than eye protection and sunglasses on sunny days. It was an easy choice for me because my eye doctor only uses the Clareon Vivity and not the PanOptix.

@@evelynreid5215 I should have mentioned my doctor was kind of joking when he said it. It's just a very slight amount of monovision. My left eye nearest focus distance is about 12 inches and my right eye closest focus is about 16 inches (I think 16 inches is normal for the EDOF Vivity). So for normal reading, phone, computer, driving, you will not need glasses. If you do to do anything that you need to see very close (sewing or ?) then you will probably still need magnifier type reading glasses. Easy to test your monovision by closing one eye at a time and see how the focus changes.

Looking forward to seeing a future video where you discuss the new symphony lens as well as the other new lenses listed by another commenter. Thanks for the information.

Hi Michele, I chose a fixed lens. Vision: 20/20. Snellen. Reading cell at 20 inches. No problem. I use a plus as back up. Refraction. +0.25 Diopters.

I'm about to schedule IOL and this has been fantastic information so i know what to ask the surgeon. Thank you for the informative videos!

I am about to have a procedure (surgery) of my eyes with great concern on my eyes since I had a lot of problems (Lasik, irregular cornea shape, and astigmatism). I have the Panoptix and you are spot on with your information. I love my IOL but I am retired and do not drive a lot or night or fly planes anymore, if I did these are the wrong IOL's to have. Driving in the daytime and a little at night, sleeping in First class while flying and being retired so I am not stuck staring at computer screens or reading all day long these IOL's are great.

Dr. Lee, Thank you for your wonderful presentations to help me prepare for my cataract surgery! After reviewing your videos, I requested a combination of vivity and panoptix but my surgeon did not think the panoptix would be a good choice for me. I have always used my dominant eye for near vision. Earlier this week, he put a vivity EDOF in my non dominant eye (amblyopia) to try it out and I like it so far. Surgery for my dominant eye is planned for Monday. He suggested the vivity with the mini monovision for my dominant eye and I would like your opinion if that combination would be similar to having a combination of panoptix and vivity so that I could have far and near vision with less dependence on glasses. Thank you! I have irregular cornea due to RK and also PVD in right eye from a trauma injury, that required viterectomy. So my eye surgeon went with a monofocal lens for the right eye. That cataract developed quickly due to viterectomy. Sadly I did not know about the EDOF option, this was in Nov 2022. I'll ask for the EDOF for my left eye when it is time. Very useful video.

A lot to absorb. I will have to have a 3 coffee watch. Between your vids and medicare explanations, i'm feeling old, hahaha What's next, how to wear your depends correctly? Great topic Dr. Lee. Seeing how we are now friends, can i call you Michele? hahaha

One suggestion I'd make is to list the boards or pop-ups you use for ready reference: At about 3:10, I was puzzled by your list of bad candidates for "presbyopia-correcting lenses. Until your later explanation of which IOLs work better for the various "bad..." conditions listed above!

@@MicheleLeeMD Doctor.at 6,43 you say you'll advise Extended focus IOL but in the banner it reads that and monofocal lenses can you clarify? I 've just had a EDF iol implanted and I'm dissappointed for the insuficient near vision So I 'm wondering whether to choose edfiol or monolenses for near vision or even trifocal for my other eye I explained abondantly to my doctor that being a myopic and needing glasses to drive but not for reading,this is the way I wanted to remain. If I close my non operated left eye letters are blurry....I can't believe he still recomended the EDF. .Post surgery I've read about this lens and it seems one would need glasses.

Thank you for your excellent explanation that multi focal and EDOF lenses have compromises vs mono focal lenses.

I've watched many of your videos. They'e been very helpful. Thanks. The lenses I was born with are terrible. I'd be thrilled to have either near or far vision without glasses, and minimal prescription for the other end of the range. Astigmatism correction will be the limiting factor.

Thanks for the video. I hope you are still answering questions. Trying to decide between vivity and panotopox. I’m 40 and have a cataract in only one eye. My other eye is 20/15, can still see very well upclose, never needed glasses. Eye health and overall health is great otherwise. I would really likely avoid worse night driving issues, I drive a lot at nighttime and would love crisp vision but not need readers for cellphone or computer. What would you suggest?

Great video! Very informative and just subscribed. I'm at the consulting stage and waiting to speak with a surgeon. I need both eyes done and hoping to go with multifocal lenses.

@@jpjoey2 Thank you for the comment! My surgery went well, thank heavens. For me, before surgery, my eyes have had very, very debilitating halos and glare due to an ICL lens surgery I had prior. When I got that ICL lens removed, and got an EDOF multifocal lens (Miniwell Ready brand) during my cataract surgery (in my right eye only this time), halos and glare have been diminished significantly, about by 75%. They are still a little annoying, but I'm so happy I can walk down a street at night while being able to see in front of me without halos ruining my field if vision. For me, the surgery was an upgrade, but I've been used to halos for 7 years. For someone who has never had halos, though, I can see them being bothered by the minimal halos. However, my eyes are oddly shaped and I seem to just have more severe outcomes than a normal person when it comes to halos and glare. I do need reading glasses for my right eye because my particular EDOF lens only helped me see crisp far vision, and really good intermediate vision. However, for close vision I will definitely need to get reading glasses once I get cataract surgery next year. For now, my left eye will do the reading up close. I hope that helps! Thank you for all this information! I do have a question though. I've had a macular hole repair-vitrectomy- now I have a cataract in that eye. One doctor said not to use vivity lens, the other said yes I can use a vivity lens. The one that said "no" to that lens said its because my vision is compromised because of the macular hole. And my other eye may need, maybe not, the same vitrectomy. Which doctor is correct about the use of vivity in both of my eyes? Thanks for your opinion.

I am 79 and have psudo exfoliation which at this time is not an issue as my pressures are at 14 .I have just started to have trouble with night time glare and double vision only at night. I am retired so don't drive at night much. My eye Dr said it is due to my cataracts. And I have and appointment in July for a consultation. Also I have worn glasses for years and don't really mind them much they are progressive lenses. I have been watching you on KZread and trying to figure out what would be best for me. My hubby had cataract surgery years ago and got infected so he has very bad vision in one eye. Also I have several friends that had not to good outcomes so I am fearful and want to the right thing. Dr. Lee, thx for the info. I’m currently trying a monofocal contact in my right eye. I have 20/15 distance vision, but need correction for intermediate and near. So far, I like what it offers, but am also very interested in multifocal for both eyes. With perfect distance vision, is it a good idea to have surgery to correct for near and intermediate? I hate wearing glasses, and even putting contacts in, so I’d like to have corrective surgery if it makes sense. I’m being steered toward lasik in one eye. Why wouldn’t a multifocal be the best option for me?

Learnt loads from this video I drive for a living and use my phone a lot.. the edof appeals as I don't mind glasses for small print etc

Yes, lenses have prescriptions in them and come in half diopter powers. Your surgeon will get measurements so that they know what power of lens to put in your eye.

Very good and informative video Doctor gave me choice between Tecnis 1, or Tecnis Eyhance, acrysof single piece or multiple piece or Bosh Lomb monofocal lens. Please let me know are all lens have bluish tint after surgery or any one give normal white tint? Which lens give less tint between above? Why blue tint after catract operation? Any monofocal lens have normal white tint ? Please answer. I have emergency surgery.

Thank you Dr. Lee for another outstanding video. I had Vivity in my dominant eye and Panoptix in the non-dominant, and so far am extremely pleased with the results. No need for glasses except for very small print, for which I use 1.25 drugstore reading glasses. Don’t really see much glare or halos when driving at night. So very pleased with the outcome! Just don’t really understand why most people seem to go for the same lens in both eyes instead of a combination like this.

I don’t think many doctors mention this option at your consultation. I know mine didn’t. I didn’t even know it was a useful choice until I started doing some investigating. That’s probably the reason it’s not used a lot.

What was your vision before surgery? Did you choose to have surgery due to get rid of glasses or did you actually have cataracts?

@MicheleLeeMD Hello Dr. Lee ! Is the lens Alcon AcrySof IQ model SN60WF a bad choice ? It seems to be monofocal and technologically very old... Thank you so much.

It seems to me that there should be a way to create temporary glasses that simulate/approximate the effects of monovision implants, multifocal and EDOF implants, both with respect to artifacts like halos/blooming and also trying to adapt to different vision in each eye. Would only work in those who still have some degree of functional vision despite the cataracts, and would have to be tailored to the individual, thus adding time and cost, but given the importance of the decision, maybe it's worth a shot? I'm a high myope who's worn glasses since 4th grade and has had varifocal lenses for about 10 years. Even so, for reading and other very near vision I take my glasses off. Never wore contacts. Kinda apprehensive about artifacts and having different focal lengths in each eye and how well my brain would adapt. A test drive of Ophthalmologist recommended IOL choice with glasses would be helpful. Also am a sometime photographer and target shooter - which would be best option to ensure optimal camera focus and target visualuzation? Do the various options work equally well with variable diopter ocular viewfinders and rifle optics? Thanks for your thoughts! Subscribed.

5 years ago I had a plano/distance monofocal lens implanted in my left eye. I now have a cataract in the right eye. I was all set to do a near monofocal (-1.5 diopter) in the right eye but backed out at the last minute. I had a question no one could answer: I have great distance vision when outdoors, and I can see close (phone, GPS, watch) as well. However, when indoors, things at a distance are kind of 'filmy'. I thought this was because of the cataract, but then I realized when looking at things up close with the right eye it sees clearly. The cataract isn't causing any degradation of near. This led me to conclude that the vision experience I am having at distance indoors is the result of the right eye not seeing far, so the binocular vision is sub-optimal. Therefore if I set the right to near...I would lock this experience in? My doctor said, yes. But you will be able to see near with the right eye. A second doctor said, no. When you get the -1.5 in the right eye, you should probably see about as well as you did 5 years ago when you got the other eye done. A third doctor said, you should look into EDOF's. So here I am, 'using the Google'. It seems to me (from all the reading I now have done) that even with these EDOF's, here is only so much light, and these lenses take some from distance and redistribute it to near. So, you can have functionality at either end, but it will be suboptimal. I had a re-consultation with my original surgeon and he suggested the EyeHance. As he explained it (and as reading online seems to confirm) it exchanges just a little distance for some intermediate vision improvement. So, seeing the dashboard in the car for example while still having good distance vision. I have looked at the Vivity, it seems to give good performance across the spectrum (near, intermediate, far) but in exchange sacrifices a lot of distance. Would that be ok since my dominant left eye already has a monofocal with great distance? After the fact is a heck of a time to make that determination. I now have an appointment with a doctor that does LAL. That has the advantage of being tunable. but the same principle applies, no? To get better intermediate and near you borrow from distance. It seems the tunable aspect makes it like virtually exchanging a monofocal for a Vivity, or EyeHance . So really providing you the opportunity to test drive what these would be like without the risk involved in physically exchanging them. Sorry, pretty long. thanks for your nice presentation.

Hi mate im in a similar posttion. Have had my right dominant eye done for distance and now have 20/25. My left eye is about -8.5 and surgeon has suggested the toric vivity. Have u had yrs done yet?

I really tried to understand what you are saying as I’m a piano teacher but I failed.

I have the Tecnis Multi focal lenses and have very little issue with night time driving or halo issues. Ive had them 5 years and they were life changing after me Cataract surgery.

What lens would you recommend for a person in their late 50s - early 60s, who regularly target shoots handguns at distances between 7 and 25 yards? Please keep in mind that after target acquisition is obtained, the most important focal point becomes the front sight of the handgun (2-3 feet from your eyes). Thank you for your time and trouble.

Good video but there are a number of very exciting lens in the pipeline such as LensGen, Fluid Vision and Jellisee. These will provide near intermediate and distance vision without the halos of the ring based multi focal lenses. An artificial lens that bends and contracts just like the natural eye lens is the logical way forward. On another subject last year they were able to bio print a cornea. They also bioprinted a human ear. So bio printing a human lens should not be radically more complicated than bio printing a human ear which is already here.

I have a question, i choose vivity by alcon, but i had a capsule rupture and place a monofocal lens by alcon. is there any way that i can place a trifocal lens?

Dr lee. My understanding is that people lose visual contrast as they age regardless of Cataracts. Does Cataract Surgery with new lenses restore Visual Contrast that is diminished with age?

I have been looking into EDOF lenses and think the Vivity might be a good fit for its intermediate coverage without compromising distance and night visions (too much). I have no issues with reading glasses. Then I came across the Eyhance lens with even less distance/night vision degradation while offering a comparable intermediate range, but it’s somehow considered monofocal. Can I get your opinion on it? I’m wondering what has been your experience with the Eyhance. Keep up the good work, - Yong

The Eyehance is technically a monofocal but does have a little bit of defocus. The Vivity will likely get you more range than the Eyehance. That being said, I have a few patients who got great range with the Eyehance lens. I know it is confusing but I hope that answers your question a bit!

I've also been wondering how the eye is able to focus with these premium lenses. With the multifocal eye glasses, you would just position a different portion of the glass into view to get the right power for the distance. How does one do that with the IOL's? I understand that they cannot be flexed like the natural lens. I'm trying to anticipate the adjustment I may have to make. What if you have to have prisms in your glasses. How does that work for Cataract Surgery. I need to have the surgery but I do have prisms in my glasses and have to be adjust each year.

I’m 58 and have some scarring on my right cornea which sits over my pupil. It results in limiting opticians’ ability to accurately measure my prescription in my right eye (presently measured as -4.75 in my right eye and -7.0 in my left eye). I wear varifocal lenses in my glasses and I also have mild astigmatism. I’d love to be glasses free, but not sure if it’s realistic for me.

I have a slight contrast issues and see starburst on lights at night at a distance i went in to see a sugron i asked for the best trifocal they had she told me there is no way she would do that surgery no matter what i paid and told me find another doctor. i asked why she said i would not like it as if shed know what i would and not like after 10 minutes of meeting me, I have no other issues but do you think she was right to take a monofocal with her given no explinaiton other than how she thinks i might feel. I do computer work and like to drive sometimes which i still do but not at night anymore.

Thanks for sharing. It sounds like you would be at risk for a retinal detachment, but if you don't have cataract surgery you will not be able to see at some point. It is all about weighing risks and benefits. Definitely discuss with your eye doctors what the best course of action is, and best of luck!

Hi Helen, for my monocular (meaning you have one eye that works) patients, my advice is to optimize for quality of vision and not get a multifocal lens. I usually recommend getting a monofocal (standard) lens in these cases. This is my opinion though and without seeing your eyes it is hard for me to advise you. Definitely discuss this with your eye surgeon. Best of luck!

Hello Doctor, I implanted a standard Swiss edof lens with extended focal lengths -1 astigmatism remained after the operation. All distances are clear only in the near distance. I see the letters have a shadow. Is this the reason for the residual astigmatism?

im 40 yrs old male already had Lasik to my eyes 16 years back in 2006, now i have matured cataract in only one eye the other one is perfectly fine..plz help me choose which ioL to go with Panoptix or Edof vivity im lot confused..reply soon

Im 77 and had laser surgery with a lens about 5 years ago. They did not say there were any different lenses. I wanted to be able to see distance clearly as I do a lot of photography. BUT, now each eye sees two images. Like looking at the moon and seeing an additional fingernail addition. It is like two moons offset and overlapping each other. The Dr said I had liquid under eys and did not want to decide until after it cleared, but this never happened. What can I do?

I normally do a fair amount of driving (occasionally at night) and separately I am on my computer a lot. Apart from a slight astigmatism, my eyes, to the best of my knowledge are healthy. I am currently leaning towards an EDOF lens. I am wondering though with monofocal how they would work for driving where you have to change between looking at the road and looking at the dash. Would one be able to read the instrument panel without needing glasses?

I got Synergy and symfony and and am pleased, no spectacles for anything

How is the contrast, colour and detail vision? I am an artist and am looking for the best possible quality of vision, with the longest depth of field, and I have been warned that you get reduced contrast and colour vision with multifocal lenses. I have been considering Synergy, one set for distance and one for close up.

@@kathybaker1478 I’m happy with both, but the symfony is slightly better for color and contrast. The synergy is better for reading, but only slightly so. If you don't mind readers for close work, monofocal IOLs may give best colour and contrast.

Hi, the type of cataract doesn't matter as much when it comes to the type of lens to choose. I would discuss your options with your surgeon to see what they think. Best of luck ❤

Waiting for accommodating IOL's that can focus like your original lenses.

I love your presentation. My in law is 71 year old with cataracts. Near sight 10 and 7.5. Doctors told him the premium lens stop at 7.5 and the minus 10 cannot be done. Please advise.

Hi there, it depends on the manufacturer and type of lens. Some lenses have a limited range when it comes to power, and it very possible that they don't have the power required for your in-law. There are options if motivated though - like doing premium lenses then correcting the residual refractive error with refractive surgery. Of course everything comes with risks so talk to the doctor about what makes the most sense. With your in-law so near-sighted, they will probably be happy even with a standard lens. Best of luck!

I have cataract in my right eye, but I also have astigmatism and glaucoma (under control thru eye drops). Which lens be best for me?

Hi Michele I have a question, I went for an eye assessment last year with a view to having multi focal lens. It didn`t go as i hoped as I have a slight squint in one of my eyes from a childhood accident and was told I wouldn't be suitable for multi lens, only single. They didn`t explain why and is there anything in the pipeline that would allow me to have this in the future?. Thanking you in anticipation.

Multifocal lenses work best in "perfect" eyes so I do agree with your doctor. If you wanted to have some range to your vision you could consider an EDOF lens. I would ask your surgeon about what they would recommend for you. Best of luck!

I live in Sweden. I had very strong astigmatism. I had PRK 1998, but after about 5 years I had to wear glasses again. My vision without glasses is still better than before the PRK, so I still see the PRK worth it. I also have “hypertension” since many years, this is when you have high eye pressure but do not yet have any damage to the vision field or optic nerve. I take Timosan drops every morning and do a checkup twice a year. My eye pressure is good. Now, I know that accommodation lenses are not yet ready, but the EDOF lens seems to have much of that functionality. However, when I asked a private clinic here that use EDOF, they said they could not offer that to me because of my PRK. Do you agree? I have no urgent need for cataract surgery, so I can probably still wait a number of years.

What has been your best outcomes with toric lenses? Have you used the acrySof lense very much?

Thanks for your question! If you have significant astigmatism, toric lenses work great. I used to use the Alcon AcrySof IQ IOL for my torics until recently and had great results with that lens. Hope that answers your questions!

I have Restor multifocal toric IOL in my right eye and Panoptix multifocal toric IOL in my left eye, vision accuracy of my right eye is 20/25, but the vision accuracy of my left eye is 20/50 only, plus negative dysphotopsia, I am more satisfied by the vision with Restor multifocal toric IOL

What do you know about or have heard about the new Tecnis Odyssey Multifocal IOL?

All of us get some presbyopia, true, but you dont have to be dependent on readers all the time either, diet change has greatly improved the focusing muscle

Hi Dr. Lee, thank you very much for the information. EDOF lenses were recommended for cataracts and astigmatism. But, where I am Vivity or Johnsonjonson are expensive. To what extent will the brand affect success here? For example, have you ever heard of the cheaper Swiss brand Lucidis? Will it affect success?

Thanks for the info. I've got a question. I have an EDOF lens in one eye and an contactlens in my other eye. I have problems with seeing with both eyes together. Do you think it will get better? It is 4 months ago I got this EDOF lens.

You didn't mention what kind of lens is best for astigmatism. I also have Fuchs dystrophy and cataracts

For many people of course, the choice is in your wallet. This is not a dig at Ophthalmologists, nor the manufacturers, just the reality. Particularly for those on medicare who are the group most likely to need this surgery. But thank you for all the good information.

It's true. Unfortunately insurance companies in the US will not cover any specialty lenses like toric lenses or multifocal lenses, which can make it impossible for some to afford these lenses.

cataracts don't discriminate on economic status. The group most likely to need this surgery is everyone who has enough birthdays

I don’t know if I should opt for mini-monovision when one eye distance and intermediate and other one distance and intermediate but minus 1 diopter. That’s sort of thing they offered. They also offered monovision and both the same but said that I need to think about a bit of monovision to be able to see a bit close: I’m puzzled. Don’t know what to chose. All my life right eye was a little bit weaker and I got used to it but it still could see sharp in the distance: when they put a slightly stronger lens in right eye it was going a bit overpowered. But it wasn’t a mini monovision, right? It was just right eye a bit weaker strong than left one. I don’t know what to do.

Have you installed edof and multifocal lens in a patient? If so, what are their post surgical results?

HI..Dr. Michele Lee, As it is very important for an Eye Surgeon to have these skills such as Steady Hands and Nearly Perfect Vision in BOTH Eyes AND the use of Microscopes during an eye operation (especially for a Cataract Surgery), please enlighten me on How is an Opthalmologist ABLE TO SEE CLEARLY when performing a Cataract Surgery if he/she(the Opthalmologist) is BESPECTACLED* ?? *If it's required for the eye surgeon to remove his/her glasses to look into the microscopes during the eye surgery)

We can actually use glasses at the microscope but for those that prefer not to, we can actually dial in our prescription in the oculars (our microscope is really fancy)! An ophthalmologist with poor vision on one eye would hopefully stop operating as that loss of 3D vision would make microsurgery considerably more difficult.

I wish I didn’t have astigmatism, now it makes it so hard for me which option to choose. I am wearing -7.5 and -8.5 glasses since childhood and now as I developed a cataract I would like to have at least the same vision as in my usual distance glasses or contact lenses (when my eye sight was fine). Now to see close I take off my glasses, but what can I see at 10cm and 5cm close up? What is actually close vision? I don’t really know. I can’t see anything beyond 10cm. I don’t know if toric lens is safe for me, will it improve my astigmatism? It’s -2 or less. I’m really confused with all these multifocal lenses, what’s the difference between Toric Lenses and Toric EDOF and Toric multifocal. How close would I see in Toric monofocal lens if I set it for distance? All that is bothering me and scares a lot.

My wife’s doctor offer her MEDICONTUR Liberty trifocal or Lucidis Edof lens, she still can’t decide which one to go with…

Can you still wear prescription glasses after monofocal glasses.I work at in retail and evw is difficult with readers

ReSTOR is a slightly older multifocal, and I can’t say I have much personal experience with that one. When it first came out it was considered state-of-the-art. I’m sure it is still a decent multifocal option and now with some newer lenses like Synergy and Panoptix you have more options.

Wouldn't cost of the different options be something that patients would find important? I have seen videos from several different doctors discuss the pros and cons of the different options but no one seems to provide information about the approximate cost of each option.

Just got Panoptix in both eyes. The cost was $5,200.00 for both eyes plus a deductible of $300.00 per eye.

I was never given an opportunity to choose a lens. Aftier cataract surgery I have a prescription for my left eye -40 and my right eye -75. As I said before I need to do YAG laser on my left eye to see how much of an improvement I will have for my vision. I had monofocal lens for distance. I notice I see halos if the room is dark and I look at the power blue light for the compter big round halos and certain lights I see lines of light. My night vision driving is good no halos and I see better at night as it seems my eyes are sensative to glare. Thank you for allow me to share. Take care Doctor Lee.

I underwent cataract surgery for my right eye 18 months back..(mono focal lens). My left eye is yet to done..can edof lens be used for my left eye? (Or) Is mono focal the only option... please suggest the best option with a lower price..my age is 63.. If i look at the moon with my eye which is not done cataract surgery 3 images will appear (it happens only in the case of light objects like moon , electric bulb etc).. please suggest a suitable lens.

Thank you for the information on lens choices. Would you consider giving a patient the same type of lens that he/she has on the contact - multifocal or EDOF on the dominant eye and a monofocal for reading on the less dominant eye.

Hi, I had my cataract surgery on both eyes back mid December. My surgeon and I discussed the options and I decided for a RayOne EMV miniMono system with the right eye being the dominant one. I am most pleased with the near and intermediate but apprehensive to the far vision and nighttime vision when driving still hoping my brain can suss this out. I can see far to 50-60 metres but it isn't sharp. How long would it normally take for far vision to settle down? Also at times it is like looking through lightly frosted glass. I am aware of PCO and my surgeon is monitoring it. However he says it is too early for that to develop. My questions are - 1. Would my current far vision get better together with the frosted glass vision? and 2. If I require corrective glasses when can I get a pair as in sooner rather than later. i am 65 years old so recovery may be slower for me. Thanks
