Nobody was better than Ginger Baker on double bass and double toms. Bonham was master of the single set. This beat alone is a masterpiece.

LYRICS: Born under a bad sign. I've been down since I began to crawl. If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all. Bad luck and trouble's my only friend. I've been down ever since I was ten. Chorus You know, wine and women is all I crave. A big bad woman's gonna carry me to my grave. Chorus First Verse Born under a bad sign. I've been down since I began to crawl. If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck. If it wasn't for real bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all. Born under a bad sign. Born under a bad sign.

No idea what makes me think of this while listening but I get images of downtown Toronto at sunset with the setting glow off of the buildings and streets. Googled some pics while it played and it sent chills through me... amazing song !!! And I'm not even Canadian, lol

Long time ago in 1996 this version didn't impressed me as much as the one from 1990'demo 20 years later. But now, as I'm growing older, I could see so many different angles, which opens an unexpected view on this masterpiece...

Blues + jazz, perfectly mixed. Ginger's sense of rhythm plus Jack's impeccable bass playing, and Clapton's delicious licks are icing on the cake. Love me some Cream 😋

Amid all the deserved praise for this rendition, no one has bothered to mention the original version by Albert King. It's not a question of preferring one over the other (both are very good), but I think the guy who wrote the song deserves some mention.

Sorry but if I listen to Blues I prefer to hear it played by the people who actually invented Blues not some imitators. It's like hearing Mexicans playing Celtic Music.

Incredible beat yes, try doing it as your next project, it may takes us years 2\catch up, so get on it it's, still Fresh Cream. Listen closely... to the snare....real double bass drums, they are separate pedals for each bass drum. One(1), two(2)&a3&4&a (1), close?

Wow. I recall 1st time hearing this. Like "white man's" intro 2 the blues. Deep, heavy, hard-hitting. Then again, thx to internet & endless opportunities to learn, I got wise, learned of A King, bought a copy of the same (BUABS) & played the shit out of it ever since! ;-) LL
