Hello and Welcome!
My name is Julie and I have three fun kids, a super cool husband and run a family business which equals a whirlwind of a life. When I built my home over 15 year ago, I fell in love with interior design. I have been studying design and changing my home for years.
In 2020 when life slowed way down, I was able to dream past the daily grind and I started a KZread channel in hopes to connect with people and share the knowledge I have learned and have fun along the way.
Being a mom and a business owner, I hate wasting time and money. My intention is to open up my home so you can avoid all my mistakes and hopefully learn tips that will save you time and money. I find freedom in not presenting a perfect home. I want to make home design easy and accessible to everyone and most importantly take away that feeling of being overwhelmed when creating a beautiful home for your family.
I love connecting with people so feel free to reach out.

where did you get your stool from?
How about some vibrant colors? Not everyone likes boring neutrals.
Awesome video!! Thanks Julie! I like the idea about the rug pad and also about how to take the rug to the store to style.. smart!!
I too love her design ❤ AMB
Thank you so much! Your funny analogies are priceless! They're going to be a HUGE help!
Great tips! I bought a rug fr Amazon. It arrived folded and it is has been a bit difficult to get the creases/wrinkles out. Lots of patience is needed❤😊
This was so much of good and practical information.. Thank you!!!
TY. Great picks!
Thanks for making this video. You just saved me from making a mistake👍!

Build the colour pallet from, not off of.
Hi. I need help 😢. I need to buy stools for my kitchen.
This is the best video about rugs I've ever seen in my life! Thank you! 😀

Hello Julie, I take so much inspiration from watching your videos, I recently bought a chandelier to go over my eat in kitchen area but I don’t know to to pick island pendants…please point me in the right direction. The Cascada chandelier I bought is from Zgallerie…there are no island pendants that are relatable to the chandelier that I can find please help me!!!!
I know this is one of your older video's but I hope you get this message. I have dark hardwood floors and a denim blue sofa and love seat and I'm bringing in another piece of furniture that includes a fireplace. It's a Marina Cay console from Badcock & More, it's rustic brown with like an ivory popping through the block type pattern on the front. I'm uncertain on the color of rug that will pair well. Hope you can help? Thanks in advance..
Awesome info
The paint tip you said about Mollie was something I realose on my own, I got every single paint chip that came under valspars "green" and after having them fof ages, putting them against white, it was only the most mutes ones I like and painted with and its so worth it - I see people going for these ridoculously saturated colours and I just cringe.
Julie - That was terrific! I'm re-ding my bedroom and this video helped me overcome my choice paralysis; love the tip about rug map via HD! I'll be folowing you closely for more warm & wonderful DYI - with thanks - Kirsten Justice
How long does it take for the creases to level out when you buy these Loloi rugs in a box?
I struggle with interior design but i love it. I need paint by colors! 😂
It’s pronounced lilly
Unfortunately our kitchen flooring was breaking (old house) so we had to put ugly plywood over the floor. To cover the ugly floor I needed a huge rug. I purchased a massive patterned blue rug from Rugs USA and I was very lucky because they were having a huge sale so I got a big rug for a great price. I took screenshots of each rug I liked and looked at them for a few days, asked my husband’s opinion, etc. We still have plywood showing in a long narrow area. Basically I need a long runner rug. My big rug is beautiful but I’m finding it hard to find another rug that complements it. The kitchen is going to be re-painted to be dark green and my theme is Lord of the Rings. It seems like so many rugs are red or brown. I’m desperately trying to find a nice green or blue rug. Moroccan rugs are nice but they usually have pink mixed in or something a bit too bright for what I’m going for.
Currently Unavailable for all these Amazon searches. Nice try.
What do you expect when the video was posted a year ago😂
Thank u so so much for this, new subbie! Happy fall 🍂
Jules, This video is from wonderful! I love the story of you and Damien! The ideas you put forth are encouraging and entertaining! I wish I had your talent!! And the ending is awesome!❤️
I just received my 8x10 shag area rug. It literally is in a 15x18 vacuum packed package. I'm reluctant to even open it. How can an 8x10 rug be of good quality in such a small package. I think I'm going to send it back without even opening it.
Thanks for the video.. you just helped me decide I want a thicker rug! I actually designed my new living room with the help of screenshots and Canva! I snipped my flooring color as a base, then snipped the rug I loved and pasted it onto of the vinyl pattern to make sure it looked good together. I then was able to snip and remove the background on my couch, multiple coffee tables and accent chairs, to find the perfect combination! All from my computer :) If anyone else tries this it may also help to have a page where you paste some of the pictures from reviews so you can see how your pieces look in natural/different lighting!
What a great idea! That is incredible. Thank you for sharing this tip. I am going to try this in my next project. Thank you.
A Nike shoe rug pad! How did I not know about this?? Thank you!!! ❤
I am so glad you found the video helpful. Thank you for watching.

Good info. Think i found one. Thank you
Hi Julia! Thank you for this video! I am starting to redecorate my living room & have been looking at various rugs. We rent our house which has wall to wall carpets throughout the house. I love these rugs especially the Layla. How do you think they will work laying them over the existing carpet?
Hello. Good luck on redecorating. These rugs are thin so they layer well. Just make sure you do not have a plush rug under it because they will push down into a plush rug and may create a tripping hazard. You might want to get a sample and then step on it to see if it will work. Thank you so much for watching.
Julie - as always I love this advice! You are so clever the direction you take us and the counsel you provide. I have fallen for each of these “traps” and have lived to regret some of my selections! Once again, you are saving me from doing it again! See you on your next video!
I don’t answer you to decorate my home!!!
I was trying to say I want you to decorate my home!
Great advice!!! Thanks, Julie!
Thanks Jane you are always so supportive of me.💋
Another terrific video! I loved hearing about your parent’s journey in a home they must truly love and literally make their “forever home”! And you portrayed them so lovingly! I too have learned a lot about ME after being in the same home 37 years! Life is an adventure - even if you’re not on the move!😅
I am so excited to see you post a new video!! And I can’t wait to see the “Reveal”. I too am second-guessing the paint color in our new, still-under-construction home and I’m driving myself crazy and I haven’t even moved in yet! Your mistakes may save me! Thanks for sharing Julie!
Hey Doll, Everyone second guesses themselves even designers. I watch so many design videos I see even the pros second guess themselves and lose sleep over their choices. You are always so sweet and supportive. Kids have been keeping me super busy but heading into summer I hope to post more and have my three projects….bathroom, home office and work office to share coming up.
I can’t believe this video doesn’t have more “Likes”. It’s so helpful! Thank you ❤
Thank you so much. Your comment means a lot to me. Glad you found it helpful.
Good tips! 😊
Very interesting, thank you.
The problem is the Nike pad is more expensive than the carpet
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I should have said that in the video. If you are seeking comfort then it would be worth the investment. You might want to switch out rugs to change up your look but the rug pad will be the same if you are keeping the same size rug. I have three kids and I was on the floor a lot with my kids playing so it was worth the money. If I did not have kids then I might have just gotten a regular one. Make the choice based on your lifestyle and what works for you. I am sorry I did not state that and thank you for bringing it up.
Is the rug woven? It seems like it’s printed and fake
These rugs are affordable options so no not woven. Search Lindasbarn on Instagram for handwoven vintage rugs if you are looking for the real thing. Hope this is helpful.
What do you do with all the samples when you're done? Do you find places to use them or do they just get donated or hide in a closet? 😊
I mostly return them that is why I love ordering them from Amazon. One I kept and I use it in front of one of my doors or if my blue stone step going into my house gets too hot I put the sample down for the kids to step on so they don’t burn their feet. I kept that one because I bought the rug and I wanted to match pillows and other things to it. Recently my friend bought a pottery barn rug and we used that sample to shop and it made a huge difference. I also hear people using rug samples under their pets food bowls because I guess their messy when they eat but I don’t have a dog. I would love one but my son is allergic.
None of these rugs are available.
I am so sorry they were when I made the video. Let me see if it is just my links that are off. Thank you for letting me know.
great info! I need 3 area rugs (9x12!) for my new home and I am just gotta pick 3 from your top 5s, because I trust you now lol.
3 new rugs is so exciting! Good luck on your project and you might want to try to putting the three rugs in the Pinterest search and see all the pictures that feature these rugs for ideas on how to decorate with them. They are so popular they will show up in lots of photos! Good luck and I am sure it is going to be beautiful!
Excellent! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much and I am glad you found it helpful!

Thank you sweetie! You are always so kind and lovely. 💋
Awesome ideas ! Thanks for sharing. Im actually looking for the right stool. Do you think it's necessary to match the stool with your counter if it does have a marble finished?
Thank you for the kind words. No I would not match my stool to the counter. I like a difference in tones and color. I would warm up my marble finish with wood. The reason why you want to create definition between them is because stools around an island are inviting to someone to sit down and relax and you therefore you need the eye to go to them when you are in the space.
Great tips. And when a contractor or sub comes to look at your job and says, “Your project sounds interesting,” it really translates to “I need the money” LOL.
Your comment made me laugh. I always thought "interesting" meant I am pushing them out of their comfort zone but you are right they probably are going to bill me more....lol
