You´re not actually executing the technique properly. You say shift weight to the kick ski - that´s correct, but you aren´t doing so in the demonstration. A good que is a knee extension (straightening your leg), before you push of the weighted ski.

If you only need to wear a tee-shirt then it is not really nordic skiing. You lost the nordic part.

Interesting perspective! Other than as a drill to keep progressing on having your center of mass above the middle of your ski I would not see the benefits of landing on the outside edge of your ski. I find skiing on an icy condition to be a golden opportunity to practice landing your center of mass in the middle of the ski because if you land on a flat ski and your center of mass is not in the centre of your ski it will not track on a straight line. I am sure that I likely did not understand what you are talking about. Thank you for sharing!

I used this video to help tune up my technique for the Birkie. I only was able to get out and ski 3 times this winter due to schedule and I needed all the help I could get. I had a tendency to step up the hill and use way to much force on my poles which over 50k will wear me down. I worked mainly on keeping my body straight facing uphill and be lighter on my ski pole but increase turnover and was able to get through the race without feeling broken at the end. I'm hoping with a full year of training, I can finally get my wave 1 bib. Thanks for posting

Two choices on glazed tracks - double poling or pushing straight down for grip. This where "hairy" xc skis come into their own. Also a slight bounce up and down during weight transition if slipping on fish scales. But double poling can be very simple on glazed tracks without tummy bending even using some knee flexing at "weight transfer"
@brucewharrie6198 Жыл бұрын
Yep, it helps keeping light on skis, improves weight transfer and extend glide. An alternative to "slipper slipper, slipper" is possibly "landing on the ball of your feet". I will test the comparison soon, ie. the Konig Ludwig ski marathon race. There are more steps further such as the double bounce glide as per the Scandanavian style (many seen at last week's Marcialonga), and the Marilyn Munroe hip follow around "hip swing". And always looking to where you want to be rather than down at the ski.

I never tried cross country skiing on wet grass and somehow I think I like better roller skiing! Mind you the sceneries where you are skiing on grass look much nicer to where I roller ski so maybe! I do not see it as a real advantage on ski bounding on a nice little trail with trees around. That is my comment. Great video!
