Fishing out of a fully rebuilt Haines Seawasp CC 4m and chasing the bite all over Victoria and around Australia. Locally targeting species such as snapper, kingfish, gummy shark, whiting, squid and tuna. Once a year I head up on a liveaboard trip on the Great Barrier Reef to target species such as trevally and coral trout. And somewhere in between usually do an east coast run and chase the striped marlin.

@@Do-iz6qd josh Favero is the man to talk to! His boat. Does 42-43 knots fully trimmed out. Fuel numbers and the rest just reach out joshy he’ll happily have a chat
@@brodyconnellyfishing Thanks Brody for the heads up. Cheers
I’m no expert but looks like his green/red nav lights could be on the wrong side
@@dpdys1mate you’re actually right I’ll tell josh now 😂😂
@@dpdys1 just told josh “just had a look too, can’t believe it’s been six years and it took some guy on KZread to realise it” hahaha
Nailed the seal switch!
Did you fish the reel it in fishing comp?
Nah mate never heard of it actually! Assuming you did?
@@brodyconnellyfishing yea mates, it’s a sick comp, I could have swore I saw your boat, then I saw this vid and assumed Have you headed offshore for tuna out of western port this year?
@@Just_Nibblin nah mate not me! This vid was months ago and not in my boat. Not for barrels. Got the school fish earlier in the year though. Did a run to port mac and got 2 barrels a month ago
My Grampy and nanny live there I go there every summer great place
Certainly is mate. Whitsundays of Gippsland 😂
Great video! what lb braid and leader were you using?
Generally 30lb braid and 60-80lb leader!
Brods give me an area please, wp
Tenby point mate
@@brodyconnellyfishing cheers mate much appreciated 🙂👍🏻
Amateur Hour over here
😂
What is the lure ?
Links in the description mate :)
Great video!
Awesome video! Can’t believe the oil slick conditions
can’t believe you are 0-1
Great work mate keep them up
Cheers Ed! Hanging for the bigger models
Nice work boys! Perfect offshore conditions. Even more perfect day on the SBT's!
Cheers Brad. Time for a barrel 👌
@brodyconnellyfishing have to be a perfect day to take my boat out.
@@bradlewis8843 it happens. Was a perfect day when I got mine. But honestly friends with big boats is the go 😂
Looks like you’ll never forget that day any time soon! What rods were you boys running?
One of the better ones! I was running a pe 2-4 gomoku. Good budget stick but was hard yakka when they got vertical. Jayden’s pe3/5 murasame was probably ideal
hey just a question what lure was u guy using and what was the depth?
On that day they are 6-7 lures mate. X rap long casts, west coast 90s, MAS deathwobble, queen pops. Roughly 70-90mm stick baits and poppers. They were popping up between 60-80m but we chased them around all day.
Fire up!!!
Yeah boy. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You two sound like you ran a marathon 😅 nice work fellas, conditions looked primo. What was the biggest?
Jayden must have 1 lung or something 😂 think it was like 21 gutted so guesstimate 25
@@brodyconnellyfishing nice one! next time on some ultra light gear would be sick!
Ft. Worlds heaviest breathing man
Hahaha need to get you a plug in breathing apparatus
With footage like that I wouldn't worry about loosing a lure. Well done boys.
Haha thanks mate! Appreciate it. Always hurts though 😂
What a sesh man thats off its head, and congrats on the 1k! Heading out on Wednesday if i can just get one ill be over the moon
Yell out before you go bruz I’ll tell you what i know. Appreciate it!
Looks sick, glassy conditions too. Can’t believe the other bloke struggled to lift the schoolie over the gunnel 😅
Short arms, short man
Slayed the area dude!
Hectic footage can’t wait to get out there this weekend how deep where they?
15-80 haha all over the joint!
Outstanding
Appreciate it!
Awesome video bro! 👌 Do you remember what the wind and swell height readings were for this particular day and what date you went out? I've got a 5hr trip from where I live so wanting to gather as much information regarding weather and swell heights etc before making a trip down that way. Cheers 🤙 🍻
It was Friday just gone. It was 1m and literally forecast 1 knot S turning 1 knot north for a 6 hour period haha. Can’t get any better. Anything under 1.5m and 10 knots from the north, plus over 10 seconds between swell is going to be very comfortable. Any more than that just depends on your boat and your confidence
@@brodyconnellyfishing yeah that's super rare considering the conditions I've been seeing atm haha
Sick footage, is this Lake Purrumbete?
Bullen merri 😂
Froff whenever you upload a video 😍
Thanks mate!
Tasty lookin feed bro!
Certainly was! Have had it like 3 times in 2 weeks 😂
Kickass again mate
Legend. Thanks mate
Sick video! Do you anchor or drift for the gummies?
I prefer to anchor - being on the reef if you drift you’ll just snag rigs flat out. Out on places like flinders and cody bank there’s no issue drifting but you’ll get more by catch generally
Good going man. Got a bit hectic there!
Certainly did! Cheers bruz
Do you find you can drive faster with the fresh haircut?
At least a few knots
Good stuff man. Love to do some offshore gummy fishin
Thanks man. Yell out if you ever want me to show you the ropes out there
@@brodyconnellyfishing oh I will for sure man thanks. Only thing I’ve caught offshore was years ago wrase and a 8kg snapper going back some years now before I had a boat and the old man was still living here not Tassie where the steroid tings live 🤣

Best place to contact me is on my Instagram mate!
@brodyconnellyfishing cheers mate will do
Great stuff man thanks for sharing the path over the middle bank I think its the same one we crossed that night we went there. To bad you didn't get on the gummys as well hopefully you will next time
Think a fair few people have come unstuck across there over the years!
@@brodyconnellyfishing yeah I have heard that over years from a few people. Definitely not a spot to mess around. As you said the swell there is tricky especially in the dark
Awesome video! Great to see the bloke with a broken leg out of retirement
He was a good decky 😂
Representing Auschem!
Need a sponsorship from them 😂
Nice weather to fish in and a soothing whiting sesh 👌🏼
In New Zealand, those are the size we use for bait to catch really big Kingfish 20 to 35kg
You’re blessed over there! We need to look at our stock and how it’s handled. Hopefully in the future we can have a similar fishery.
Great setup! What rods, reels and line were you using? What size (kg) tuna were you trolling for? I notice these rod lengths are fairly tall, compared to many other trolling rods I see. What advantages do you see in using longer rods for trolling in this application? Cameron
For small tuna we just use snapper/gummy combos mate.
@@brodyconnellyfishing great fun! Thanks
Why u letting them just sit there u got four big fish
Sorry mate? This video has no fish in it 😂
What rods are they mate
Shimano pelagic nano series however they don’t make them anymore. The replacement seems to be the shimano sentrie stealth
Nice Catch, Big Marlin!
Cheers!
Great work. Very nice video. Can I ask what make model of rod/reel/line/ harness setup you used to catch that barrel? Thanks Cameron
That was a tiagra 50w, on a 37kg rod (unsure what type - Jaydens rod and reel) spooled with 37kg mono. Harness is a black magic harness
@@brodyconnellyfishing great . Well done!
@@brodyconnellyfishing for tuna fishing(trolling), on your view is it best to spool entire spool with mono or braid and mono top shot?
@@Camh1968 personal preference mate. Cheaper to do mono. But braid is necessary if you want to use your combo for sword fishing or deep dropping like many people do
@@brodyconnellyfishing interesting thanks.
Well done for making this video. Can I ask name of the electric reel (as used for downrigger) as shown from 8.10 to 8.47? Why have you chosen an electric reel in lieu of a downrigger for this application? What rod holder/rod is this electric reel connected to? Cameron
It’s a Daiwa tanacom on a Daiwa beef stick 56HT. The advantage of this is that you can use this combo to fish deep with (3-500m offshore for bottom species) but you can also set it up as a downrigger, that when you press the ‘retrieve’ lever it will automatically pull the line it. This is advantageous as it means you can press the lever and then quickly move to retrieve another rod after a hook up. Helps clear the rods quickly and avoid any possible tangles
@@brodyconnellyfishing thanks mate. I love this idea. Would a dedicated downrigger (eg Scotty) unit have any advantage over this electric reel for down rigging functions?
Are you going to give them a crack in the port? Heard they've started moving in
Literally just got off the water after chasing them. They went good yesterday but nada today
Great video! Would be keen to see how you set up for gummies
Get yourself some dacron heaps cheaper then braid spool
Good tutorial nonetheless brother
Oh for sure mate if I was buying I would, but those spools with 50m left are useless for anything else so I use them for these! Rather than just ending up in the bin
Long way to go for a couple of rats
More kingfish content pls
Yes sir 🫡
