    In my humble opinion, I think you should consider reordering this playlist. I listen to things while I do other stuff, so allowing them to just play one after the other instead of having to basically go backwards when one video ends is a lot more useful. And I don't think I am alone in this. In any case, excellent stuff.

    Oh, I’ve been told this many times. I am just very bad at sitting down and doing that kind of thing when I have other things in my life going on. It is definitely on my list of things to get done though.

    Just found your channel and am loving this series! You might want to reverse the order of videos in the playlist so people can just let it play on. Right now, episode 1 is playing after 2 and so on.

    I realized when I started that playlist, I had not taken into account adding multiple campaigns and calling them episode one, etc. I’ll have to get around to fixing that soon.

    When I got started, I had the thought of everything is playing. It really takes the pressure off. Sometimes I look of the mythology of a creature, or draw a picture, or read up on the weather in Alaska and how to build an igloo. I find solo RPGs give a lot of freedom in that way.

    I found a great set of rules ( I think from the author of Scarlet Heroes , but a youtuber displayed them in practice) that you could use for solo. I am using them and it's going great. 1) You divide incoming damage by 5. if you get a decimal point, you add 1 to the damage. So 1-5=1, 6-10 = 2, etc. 2) You can attack twice per turn 3) Your first HP roll is maxed out. So if you are 1d6, your health starts at 6+CON. I dont know if you are supposed to do this on all HP increments, but I don't. Just at level 1. Supposedly you can also increase your damage, but I haven't done this yet. Only those 3 rules have allowed me to play a solo elf ranger just fine. Also I kind of removed the wandering monster roll unless I make loud noises, and other homebrew stuff. Just thought I would let you know about this stuff maybe you haven't considered. Perhaps you are ok with dying so much but in all fairness the game is designed for a party of 4, and we are playing 1-2 characters.

    Sounds awesome. I am only passively aware of Scarlet Heroes. I had already found a solo system that works for me before discovering it. So no need to add to another solo engine. For my games that is.

    Here I thought it was just me. The multiple quandaries that you shared resonate for myself. I have a plethora of games, some started, most unfinished. Tons of resources. Great intentions, thoughts and ideas but paralysis eventually sets in. I like a lot of things about a lot of systems but can’t seem to find that sweet spot of ultimate satisfaction. I personally find that I lose engagement with a solo game when my creativity gets stuck, or I finish a massive quest trip and I have no obvious hook to the next scene. I guess if you look at it as a challenge you could process it with a better outlook. specially since you are trying to create content. those moments of struggle tough me a lot about getting inspired by watching creators like you playing solo rpgs.

  • @AmazingAaxor
    @AmazingAaxorАй бұрын

    I think that’s the crooks of all gaming to be honest. When you lose interest, creativity, or like you said, finish a major quest line, it can feel empty afterward. While I’m not currently struggling with my starforged campaign, I struggle like that in most of my video games. Lol.

    My two cents is that I also feel this "what am I doing/ why am I playing this" feeling, and it is always whenever I'm tired. I like your narrative, it is true that your style is not for everyone (and that is ok), I tend to digress a lot as well (especially whenever im excited with something) so I kind of enjoy this because it suits my character. Having said that, Im lagging behind on your starforged/ vaults of vaarn campaign. You're too productive, i can't catch up😝

  • @AmazingAaxor

    Thanks for leaving your thoughts here! Digression is ok as long as we can get back on track before we lose our place. lol. The star forged campaign is basically my bread and butter. It’s the thing that occupies most of my downtime - Hobby space. so therefore, I tend to want to play it more often than other things. Don’t worry about catching up. I rather like the rambing. I find them more inspiring than the actual play's. There's more ideas and insights into the hobby. Watching and listening to you rambling made me trying to do away with the laptop.. I missed typing out the interactions at first but it sped up play big time. My journaling has become more something of a bullet point, small drawings and timelines. And I like it a lot like this now. But I take up A LOT more space then you do.. It's all over the table😅 As for choosing the game to play? I restrain myself from buying.. There's so many out there it gives choice paralysis. I currently switch from Starforge to Sundered Isles, Fate/Mytic campaign, Ker Nethalas and back. Whatever feels like playing.

    I have a lot of things pulling my attention in different directions and my free time is limited. I keep in mind that "everything is playing" and just enjoy those moments and try not to get too caught up in turning everything into a video. It is hard to grow a KZread channel and not have verity to offer. It really depends on what you are looking for with the channel and what brings you joy. If you are trying to grow a channel and make an income from it you will be chasing the dragons tail and some people like that, I don't. I play solo and have no one to play games with some my KZread channel is my connection to other games that have the same interest. Yes, I do a lot of product reviews and will continue to do so in the future because they are products I like and use. I don't like recording my game sessions because that is my fun time and would much rather do a game recap and talk about how the game went. I keep experimenting with different ways to present material that works for my channel and that I enjoy making. Some work but most don't and I keep trying. The biggest change I made was I stopped chasing the latest and greatest games or subjects and just make videos that I enjoy watching. If I don't enjoy what I make than what is the point of making videos. Making the videos for me is now part of my hobby and I want to enjoy the process.

    Choosing games: I think it comes down to portability and if I feel the book is "too pretty" or not. Usually I pick a small book(White Box Fantastic Medieval Game) that I can put in my backpack and take with me. Wish I had a printer so I could bring other things with me.

Despite really getting into the flow once I’m playing a solo games like Ker Nethalas or Ironsworn, or Starforged, (Or now Sundered Isles); there is a huge amount of decision paralysis before I actually decide to actually choose what to play, and my TTRPG pdf list is starting to look a lot like my Steam Library of unplayed games.

    If you love this tone, you'll go crazy on MÖRK BORG. So many grim, dark supplements for it also that makes it deep enough to bury you alive. Actually, just last year I ran a MB adventure where they woke up in the bone pit, deep in ancient temple for an ancient god of death. It was a processing center to separate the components of the dead for future elixirs and other merchandise for the obscenely wealthy. They have to adventure to win their skin, muscles, and fat and rebuild themselves into the semblance of a living being. That was just the beginning. To truly be sentient, they had to claim a soul and in doing so, claim someone else's past and class level.
