    ✈ JetBlue Mint rules! We did the JFK-LGW route, and am surprised at how different the setup looks like. We had the full solo suite with privacy door, and four of us traveling together so we had 2 rows filled. We didn't have that snack bar (as far as I know) but they did constantly check to see if we wanted anything. We ended up paying cash for it, since it felt like a really good deal. But when you kept saying "terminal 1", my brain went "oh no" and then you confirmed it. Bummer that you got lost in that gigantic compound of an airport, but glad you still made it!

    You'd be surprised how good proper italian food is on these resorts. Wife and I hit Seychelles (3 main islands, but I'll speak of La Digue, which is by far our favorite), in 2021 and we stayed at a resort for 3 days on La Digue. It was about $20 to $40 per person, but totally worth it. Can't remember how much breakfast was, but it definitely didn't break the bank and the quality of food was excellent. I don't know how these Italian restaurants do homemade lasagne with meat sauce/proper ragouts given the geography, but it definitely changed my expectations of that type of food on resort islands.

    That bidet: what's the flow like? In Lisbon it wasn't brilliant, and I hated that. In Chiang-Mai/BKK, it was like using a garden hose on the "Jet" setting with no way to adjust. I guess the benefit of that pressure is any overspray could simply be cleaned with more, direct, spray.

    @@SebbyFung I lived in TP for a year with my wife who's from Taiwan, there are quite a few great chirashi places, pricier omakase (chefs from japan) if you're into that, and taiwan actually also has an abundance of different styles of japanese ramen in terms of quality and variety. 上引 is definitely well known and won't disappoint you. Hey, question about rhe ferry across to the thalasso. Do you know what the cost is to take it over? We are wanting to do 3 nights at le moana and then 5 at the thalasso. Dont want to pay the exorbitant cost from the airport to resort provided by IHG

  • @SebbyFung
    @SebbyFung20 күн бұрын

    It should be 3390 XPF (~$30 USD) one-way from Le Moana to Thalasso. IIRC, it was free before 2pm but not sure if that's changed. I think you're strategy makes sense. I feel 5 nights at Thalasso might be a tad too long, but depends on you and your Player 2 :) For 8 nights, I'd probably do 2 at Le Moana + 3 at Thalasso + 3 at Conrad. YMMV.

    @SebbyFung thank you for the reply! We are travelling with our kids (4 + 6) so limited bouncing around is better for all involved 🤣 we are coming from new zealand and usually do fiji and the cook islands. 10 year anniversary we thought let's splurge. The other thing we could do is conrad instead of le moana but I'm assuming the transfer between the two resorts will be a crazy price once again.

  • @SebbyFung
    @SebbyFung20 күн бұрын

    Conrad has a bit more optionality for activities: mini golf, tennis, and they have a kids club (if you need time off!) On day of arrival/departure it's 7500 XPF per person (~$68 USD) so that might make it a skip. Worth considering though (Conrad video was uploaded on Sunday; less of a focus on kids stuff but hopefully helps for everything else).

    Summer (Jun/Jul/Aug) tend to be high season. Shoulder season is Apr/May/Sep/Oct. Main reason is it's dry season (less rain, more sun) and calmer water (better for snorkeling, scuba diving, etc.) Temp wise it's the same, but wet season is more humid, so feels more gross. (YMMV of course, especially if you're in NYC/Boston and trying to escape the winter!)
