This was an excellent episode. We must be mindful of how the people in our lives are wired when it comes to giving and receiving love, attention, and affection. It's vital to consider that just because certain things are not of priority or importance to us doesn't mean it's that way for others. Also communicating clearly what you can give, receive, prioritize, and have the capacity for is vital for friendships to thrive. I think our generation treats friendships too casually as if they don't require intentionality, work, effort, adjustments, and impact, especially through changes, realities, transitions, and phases of life. This episode was a great reminder and encouragement of how much I have grown to be the friend that I desire, letting go and being let go by others and the continual healing from failure, coveting, idolization, jealousy, insecurity, inadequacy, abandonment, neglect, rejection, etc. that I have experienced in friendships in God through therapy while surrounding myself with friendships that align with where I am going, not who I have been.

I used to feel like if I held men's flaws against them in terms of agreeing to date, it meant I was stuck up. I think maybe it stemmed from feeling there was something wrong with me, and wishing people will overlook it. Turns out that's childhood trauma. I also got stalked.

In addition, I didn't really believe in love... Like, not happy peaceful mutual love. So I figured, anything better than what I've got is probably propaganda to get people to buy romance novels and movie tickets, so I may as well take what I can get. Now I think I maybe do believe, at least hypothetically.

This story was like reliving my own experience. I too, once gave “the nice guy” a chance because he was incredibly smart. Turned out his intelligence couldn’t save him from revealing a slew of misogynist tendencies and massive insecurities. He harassed me for weeks after I broke up with him and eventually, even followed me to a new city. I learned from that relationship that you can’t be with someone who doesn’t have a strong sense of self or self worth. If you’re not in alignment, you’re only setting yourself up for failure. Coincidentally, as soon as I stopped telling myself the man I’d actually always secretly wanted was out of my league, I found my soulmate. We get married next June 🤍

First and foremost, Congratulations on finding your soulmate and your upcoming wedding!!! 🎉 So happy for you! Secondly, I completely understand! We all have been put in positions with people that are wolves and sheeps clothing! Sounds like you were stalked by him too! I know firsthand how horrible that can be! Glad you made it out safe!

And to your point, I don't have a lot of long term and HEALTHY marriages that have been modeled in my life. But then I think to myself, am I trying to find a perfect couple to model? Do they exist? Good afternoon from the UK. 😍 I discovered your channel a few days ago & I am completely hooked. You are so lovely to watch & have a lovely presence. I cannot cannot cannot belive the comments people say about the colour of your skin! It's outrageous. You are absolutely stunning, smart & such a caring person. I loved your video about the build-up to winning Miss USA , the heartache of losing your mum, but the strength to keep going, to the donation of money for the mum to buy her daughter a dress for the pagent. ❤ I suffer with self hate......a lot, I'm almost 47yrs old & it seems to get worse. I feel completely incapable sometimes of doing anything great with my life. I feel good things only happen to other people. 🤷‍♂️crazy I know. But you will be pleased to know I have a 8yr old son who i adore & tell a hundred times a day how beautiful, smart, handsome, & funny he is. You did say its important as your mother done the same with you. My mum is 80 years old & she is fabulous but she never told me any of things. She says it is a generational thing & they never spoke like that. Anyways I'm working on it 😃 I'm going to work my through all of your chats as you are so inspirational and very intelligent Much love Maria ❤
