  Actually the Union didn't even fight to free slaves til 1863... And they weren't anti slave they this is highlighted in the emancipation proclamation which sites SPECIFICALLY that the slaves in the SOUTH were all free not the slaves in the Union border states who still owned slaves. The union really fought to keep the Union together especially due to the Confederate attack of Fort Sumter. So therefore this is false PS: Kentucky a state loyal to the union was one of the last states to radifi the 13th amendment.
