Finding Shalom

Finding Shalom

A journey to find True Peace. Join me on the journey.

Hi! I'm Christa. I am a wife, mother of three adult children, a seamstress, an entrepreneur, a former bridal boutique owner, and a follower of Jesus. I have been on a lifelong journey to find peace. I've found it! and also learned that it is a journey. A journey that I am always on. Somedays I don't make the right choices and the feeling of peace eludes me. However, I found that peace is more than a feeling.
My journey of finding a WORD OF THE YEAR brought me to the Jewish word SHALOM. This word is so much more than peace. It is tranquility, wholeness, prosperity, and so much more.
Join me as I journey along this path and discover more and more about this amazing word.
Shalom my dear friends! Thanks for hanging out with me.

Also I put the first comment before I listened to the very end. Recently I was dealing with an issue with my oldest who is 19 years old. I was so stressed out. The Lord gave me an image of a circle one day. And showed me that my place was inside the circle where His peace resides. When I step outside of that perimeter that’s where I find anxiety and stress, and all that comes with it. And it was as if the Lord said, Naomi, when you trust Me, you will experience My peace within that safety but when you choose not to trust Me your stepping out of the perimeter of My peace for you, and that’s when you deal with the stress and anxiety. Two weeks later, the same issue came up again, and I was tempted to step out and take control again. But yet again, I had to trust the Lord to remain at peace. ❤

God bless you for this post. The sun was setting yesterday. I looked out my kitchen window and imagined what those Jewish people were doing years before as they prepared for the Passover. I called my son and told him , what if we were like, hurry get ready! go touch your door frames with Sacrificial blood! So now, I told him we can walk around the house and anoint with oil or even just touch and pray our door post. What amazing gift God has given us.!

How did God hear the prayers of the patriarchs who didn't have 3 different styles of prayer journals? Please re-think the title of this video. God hears the prayers of a destitute man stranded far from modern civilization's note pads and craft stores. Does God hear my prayers, for those involved, when I see an ambulance, while driving the grocery store?

Hello 👋 I’m praying you find God’s peace and His loving arms today. Did you watch the video all the way through? I start off with a lot of amazing scripture on prayer and how Jesus teaches up to pray. And showing how to pour your heart out to God. I show how real you can be with God and how raw. Although I use journaling to express my prayers to God, it’s not the primary subject of this video. By your tone, I’m gathering that you are struggling deeply and needing God to hear you and answer you. I know that feeling well. May I suggest sermons by Charles Stanley? They are here on KZread. You can search things like “prayer Charles Stanley “. You should find many. I pray you feel God’s presence in a powerful way today. A way you never experienced. May you realize He is with you always, no matter what storms you face. Shalom to you my friend!! -Christa

@@findingshalom Thank you for your kind words. I didn't watch the video. Respectfully disagree with your premise, as STATED in the title of your video. And, your *assumption*, about me, is far from being accurate. I don't need multiple journals, note pads and such to thank God, every morning, for another day. After more than 3 quarters of a century of life, I also thank Him every evening for living another day. Through out the day I acknowledge His blessings and ask for guidance. My concern, for others, is that title implies that journaling is needed, when I bow my head to pray. My father could not read or write his name. I have no doubt that God heard his prayers. Faith comes from hearing. "Footprints in the Sand" expresses my viewpoint far better than I can, when I lost my better half. The worst storm that I've faced in this life. Thank you for your prayer.

@@oldtimerlee8820 thank you for your response. That is one of the hardest things to walk through. Losing a spouse. I’m so sorry. And thank you for your constructive criticism on the title. You are correct, you definitely don’t need to journal to have God hear you. Each of us were gifted with a different personality, different way we express ourselves. This one happens to be mine. I definitely don’t want to imply that you have to journal to have God hear you. He hears his children when we call out to him no matter how we call to him. Continued prayers for you! God bless and Shalom! May his peace fill you today. -Christa

Great Video! Please can you share how you finish off the seam for using the stretch tulle/ilusion effect. Is it correct that you can leave it raw? Also would you trim down the long seam you did down the sleeve you did in this video? I have noticed on some dresses that the seam looks very thin and wondered how they achieved this. Thanks again for a very informative video!

Hello! Thank you so much! Tulle can be left raw. However, most of the ones I do, including this one, have two pieces sewn together. One piece acts as the lining. The other piece the outside (with appliqués sewn on). It creates a nice finish on the end of the sleeve. I plan on making another sleeve video on my sewing channel “Christa’s Dress Shoppe”. I hope to do it soon. Thanks so so much for watching and commenting!! 💙💙 -Christa

I love using a walking foot. I do a lot of ready-to-wear hemming jeans and the fabrics are now made of so much elastin stretch. I was having a horrible time preventing the waving when hemming. Most of the time if there is not a lot of stretch in the fabric it will steam out. I had a jean fabric the other day which was 96% elastic and cotton and I knew my industrial would never do a good job. I did have a walking foot for my Singer home machine so I decided to use it and it did a beautiful job. In fact, my finished hem looked better than the original. I wish I had a walking foot industrial but unfortunately, I do not as this would alleviate this problem with sewing knits. I did some research online and found that you can use some of the home sewing walking foot on your industrial machines. There are several videos on KZread explaining this option. My problem is I have an older Industrial and I am not certain a Brother will fit my machine so I am going to take a chance and order one for a high shank and hope it will fit. I am also concerned even with the purchase doing jeans that it may not work well on my industrial machine because of the thicker hem and the flat felled seams. It might just be too much for the gadget. It to me is worth a try and if not I can send it back. I did work in a furniture factory and we had walking feet for doing welting and they were wonderful when it came to matching the stripes. So far I have made do. Also, I noticed you do not have a cover stitch machine for knits. I have been getting so many knits to do in my business that I do not know what I would do without it. I am wondering if you are going to invest in one? Doing wedding you probably do not encounter many knits but in prom dresses, you might get some. I do not know what I would have done without my Janome 1000 although it has its faults I would consider the Janome 3000 as it has apparently fixed the problem with skipped stitches which happens mainly on thicker seams but a button placed behind the presser foot seems to solve the problem for the most part for me. I do not do bridal but will do prom and bridesmaid dresses. I have another associate who handles all the bridal gowns. Love watching your channel and was thrilled when I discovered how to do a bagged dress. I get maybe one per season and could not remember how my bridal specialist told me to do them. I had been sending them all to her and now I should be able to do them. I think she was making it harder than what you were showing but she had been doing them her way for years and she was very good at knowing the steps needed to get it done. There are always different ways to do something. I am working on getting through your videos. Thank You.

Thank you so much Linda! I love all the knowledge you blessed us with in your comment! I used to do ready to wear when I started my alterations business, but somehow kept being drawn to bridal and formals. Then when I opened my bridal shop it started me on a path of bridal only. I do have a handful of clients that have been with me since the beginning. I still alter their ready to wear clothing. Lol But they are the only ones. In bridal I don’t have a lot of need for a cover stitch machine. They are doing many of the online bridesmaids dresses in knit these days but I don’t do enough of those to justify the cost of the machine. That’s the one machine I have never used. I did have a seamstress who worked for me at the bridal shop who owned one. Every once in a while she took something home to use her machine. Very interesting! And I love that they used a walking foot in an upholstery shop. That’s great! Thanks for watching my videos!! I see you have been on both channels now. 😃 I appreciate you so much! God Bless! And Shalom! -Christa

I use to just read my Bible and that was it but now I take notes and write down a lot of things so I can remember better. Maybe I will add a few pictures to go along with what I am studying.

Thank you so much Teri! I will be excited to have you along. 💙 I used to do the same, just read. Now that I write notes or journal or sketch, it just comes alive. I hope you enjoy adding a few pics with your study. Shalom! -Christa

💖Oh wow my pastor's message relates. ✝️ God is our Shephard, and when we dont see or feel him, he's still there leading us from behind as El shadai-your God almighty and protector. And other times he's leading us from in front as Yahweh. 🥰 Yahweh means faithful to his promises. it conveys the thought that God is ever present with his people to save, help, deliver, redeem, bless, and keep covenant. 🙌 💯What a great reminder that God as our shepherd is with us no matter how we feel, 😢unanswered prayers, or difficulties in our lives. 💓 🫂 hugs my friend!

Here is that wonderful article that Sandra from the Facebook page posted in the comments of yesterday’s video. It’s amazing and eye opening to get another detail that God orchestrated in the Old Testament to point to Jesus. www.spiritualmanna.info/mostholytomb/?fbclid=IwAR2NAr-XqGt4JazU9D8KJCmCuFgmisJp6N4nOSda-Nr9jepR2jCzE3CKpJM_aem_AVOiZX8V7rhZWYcnl4HRluq6Zx6B1H4qZvNBDr2uJ0v4AlBvD-jNBBXHEfPQXOGI8Bw

😊God can turn bad things into good even when we dont see it or feel it. 🙏 He made eternal life spring from the death of Jesus. He makes good come up from bad situations. 🙏 ❤Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Me too Sandra!!! LOL ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ The snow has been deep this year. I still can’t quite drive my car out of my own neighborhood. But the 10 day forecast is all in the 40’s. Yay! But yeah, I’m trying not to wish my life away. I did enjoy getting lots of exercise while shoveling. 💙💙💙💙
