I was in China for 3 weeks back in 2019, and I didn't mind being stared at too much, but one day I had too much of it and it was making me kind of angry, it was weird. I got over it pretty quickly, and everyone was generally super nice except one waitress, but it will get old if you're there long enough.

You know it's legit when all the locals are waiting around on their bikes for street vendor food! Literally the best meals I've had was just from walking around and finding random popular with local places.
