We are Lockie and Ash, two Aussies who travelled Europe in our self-converted campervan, Tommy!
We moved to Europe in August 2019, where we bought, registered and converted our van in a foreign country. We spent 3.5 years travelling and exploring different countries around Europe, experiencing new cultures and just living life to the absolute fullest!
After 3.5 years abroad, our van life adventure came to a holt after we were involved in a car crash! We moved home to Australia for 8 months in December 2022 and are now back in Europe ready for the next chapter!
We are currently building our second camper van and documenting the process!
Follow us and come along on our adventures, giving you tips and knowledge on living the van life dream, as well as being your guide to the best spots to visit.

Staying in Dubrovnik Heights, makes your stay also much cheaper. Dubrovnik Heights is 8 km away from old town Dubrovnik. The catch with Dubrovnik Heights is becouse it is in Bosnia and Hercegovina 🇧🇦
Good to know, thanks!
Well done guys. Very informative.
Thanks! We hope it helps you to install your bike rack on your camper too 😝
Enjoyed every minute of this video guys. What an amazing place.
Thank you! It is definitely a very unique experience 😊
Absolutely f😂video.
Thanks 😂
Did you mean to say snow?
No they advertise it as the worlds fastest slow train 😂
The Netherlands, check out BRIEFADDRESS, normally used for homeless persons
A beautiful part of the world!
Definitely a special area ♥️
amazinggg
Thank you!
Great information guys, thanks so much for sharing!
Glad it was helpful ☺️
Can I ask what you guys do for a living that you can so competently do this conversion? I will be doing this as well at some point.
Lockie is an electrician by trade but everything else is self taught. The best way to learn is by researching and just giving it a go! Practice makes perfect 👌 good luck ☺️
What about vehicles older than 10 or 20 years old?
I think they must be euro 6 but definitely something we would recommend you double check. We have not looked into detail at information since 2019 when we used this option
Chris Burkard is my photography hero.
He is a legend! A really friendly guy too
Provence is on my bucket list. My Russian family were exiled from Russia and are buried in Nice.
It’s a very beautiful region in France
What happened 😢?
This was our first camper. A car hit us 😢
@@LockieandAsh 😮😞
Great video
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks guys. Very succinct
Excellent summary! I'm in contact with CarTurf and very happy with what I've seen so far. I've also considered all your options, Andorra came up as an option due to your video from a few years ago. Like you, so far, CarTurf seems like the best and easiest option. We'll be meeting him mid May to buy a car.
Thank you! That’s great, I’m sure Marcus will get it all sorted for you 😊
Thanks for the information guys, very concise and helpful. I hope to do this later in the year. As a fellow Aussie, how do you remain in schengen zones for longer than the 90 days?
Glad you found it useful. Good luck with it all 😊 we have been on working holiday visas most of our time so haven’t needed to do the Schengen shuffle yet
Thank you for sharing this information. You did a huge amount of work 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Hope you have a safe trip 👍
Glad you found it helpful 😊 thank you!
Beaitiful video. Which month did you travel? From where to where?
Thank you! This was in January but it was a late start to winter that year, usually the roads are more icy/snowy. This video was northern Norway, from just past the Arctic circle to Tromsø
Do you know if it works with a motorcycle? I'm looking at getting a scooter in the Netherlands and then want to ride it down to Italy, so if I can register it in Andorra would be handy
I assume it could work but we do know the laws have changed since we did this back in 2019 so can’t be certain you would have to look into it
your everywhere.
You are both very lucky to travel to beautiful places of this world . I hope you have travelled in Australia too ! Most people who live in Australia don’t appreciate it , unfortunately . Enjoy your travels !
Yes we are ☺️ we have seen a lot of the east coast of Australia and plan to travel more one day! It’s a big country 🇦🇺
@@LockieandAsh You certainly right ! and I would love to visit Greece because the last time I only saw Athens and a village . Lol
Nice one mate. Good looking work. I did a review on sone different types of portable panels, with value for money here. May end up helping! kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5ttqKSHnZDAk6g.htmlsi=7BfOc89EMPGteKLz
Congrats on the video guys! You deserve it to go Viral with all that work. We are currently in the US for winter and looking at coming back to Europe and possibly motorhoming this time. Would you mind sharing your average weekly costs while motorhome travelling? We estimated about $1400 AUD all in with a mix of free and paid campsites. Are we far off the mark?
Thanks so much guys, we appreciate it ☺️ it really depends where in Europe you are and exactly what you are doing and also how much driving you are actually doing each month. I would say 1400 AUD would be fine as long as you aren’t planning to eat out a lot or pay for too many tourist attractions as these things add up. I would prob say plan to spend more so that you don’t go over budget and anything you save is a bonus!
@@LockieandAsh Cheers! We are pretty frugal :P Good to know our estimates weren't far off.
Great transformation, I love it ❤
Thank you 🙏 we love it too 🥰

Bonjour. Master 3 L2H2 ?
No L3H2
You have done an excellent job with your van conversion
Thank you so much ☺️

We are planning to drive our Van from Austria to Oslo on March. Did it you take 4 days ? Why didn't you use trains also .. Thnaks, great Video very helpful :)
To drive from Austria to Oslo in 4 days is very doable especially if you use the ferry from hirtshals in Denmark. We have driven the full way using the Swedish bridge and have taken the ferry
Thank you for the useful information. I've been searching info like this as non EU citizen (Korean) One question. Export plate means you are going to export the van to your original country(Au)? Or Andorra as before? Hope you have a great journey.
We are going to import it to Bulgaria and register it there 🙏🏼
@LockieandAsh Hope everything goes smoothly!🙏
Us too!
You are rich 😊
We wish!
Plenty of carrier bags (PLASTIC) for when you need a 💩
We have a toilet so just empty it at a dumping station
Yes just like you have a full size shower, range cooker micro, air fryer sure you do, a carrier bag is not classed as a toilet. Nore is a bucket with a lid.@@LockieandAsh
Bravissimi💪👏👏👏👏
Grazie mille ☺️
Can't even SPELL the town, it's zagREB NOT ZaGERB. FFS. SHAMBLES
It’s not a massive problem.. 😂 just relax 😎
@@LockieandAsh it's offensive and also won't show in search. Takes 2 seconds to correct
I'm going to guess that Lockie is a Capricorn and Ash is an Aries.
Lockies a cancer and I’m a Sagittarius haha
Keith went from 😊to 👁👄👁
What an epic year 🎉
Agreed 😊
Wow..Another city filled with idiots....
So pretty!
Thank you! 😊
Great video. Quick question - when you fitted the solar panels what's the difference between the white and black mastic?
The black one is a ‘sikaflex’ brand made for campers. The white one came with the solar panels from renogy. Not sure on the difference, I just thought the sikaflex would be better quality so I used that on the outter sides and used the renogy one in the middle.. no problems yet they both seem to be very good!
Loved watching it, it's when you see that you realise it's a lot of work and knowledge
So glad to hear you enjoyed it! It is a lot of work but very worth it in the end 😊
@@LockieandAsh looking at getting a lwb hightop crafter , we shall see , might just pay someone
@@fozzy1717 oh crafters are beautiful vans. Yeh it can be a lot of work, but it’s definitely possible. There is some good channels on KZread sharing a lot of knowledge
