Whether he only bet on his own team to win as he alleges we can never really believe that or know if that’s true… plus it makes more sense to bet against your team… Throwing a game is much easier than winning a game. Floyd towards his final years did get on his bicycle and would maintain that pace very successfully. Perhaps they both were on something. Should have just let them take whatever and let them go at it. Anyways, I just wish we got a trilogy between them. It’s a shame.

His biggest mistake is when he came back to the Reds as a player manager. The moment he bet in a position of power, he also did it as a player because his contract stated his role be 2 positions, an active player & manager. If Rose had just retired as an active player, he doesnt break Ty Cobb's record, but he'd definitely be forgiven for his betting days as manager. But his case today was laid to rest when Lou Piniella took over for him the season after his ban & went wire to wire & won a WS championship in 1990. That was a total indictment on Pete Rose: what did he do wrong with that team that Lou got so right? Keep out!
