Roaming Southern Norway

Roaming Southern Norway

Hello guys.

Well, I guess the name speaks for itself - Roaming Southern Norway - although I do other stuff too. I love hiking, camping, and everything outdoors, in the woods, by the sea, or in the mountains. As a child, 9 years of age or so, I was a Boy Scout here in Norway, but I left the movement at the age of about 19.

The interest and love of nature I never left. The reason I started this channel was as a motivation to become more active again, so my first videos are bike rides. As I progressed with editing and ran out of interesting places to ride I took to the forest, and here I am. The past year (as I'm writing this 24th April 2023) I've gained a lot of confidence and feel that I really am getting the hang of this KZread thing! I tried with an Instagram account too although that wasn't for me.

If you happen to be in the southern part of Norway, please contact me at [email protected]
and I'm sure we'll find something fun to do! D

Stay in touch - Martin

There is nothing quite like "nature therapy" if you let yourself be immersed in it and enjoy it for what it is. I'm glad that your outings and our encouragement has helped. Keep up the great work. Love to see you out and about and taking in the great beauty that is your native Norway. I had seen some videos of Norway before but nothing like yours that keep me wanting to come back and see more through your eyes. Thank you for sharing and look forward to your next shared adventure.

Hi Mr. Norway Scale of the forests, mountains, coastline, and sea is infinity...I don't see the end from here. Your aerial footage proves how small we are...not just appearance, but also issues we carry. The nature listen to us...and you leave those issues with it... The beauty of nature is priceless, so is its power. What? what is this? 18:57 oh..marker? I have seen a several PPL taking a break from YT world. YT world is quite stressful. How would you encourage them if you were me. Especially, this one photographer to be taken away the gift from. I do believe it is important to take time to rejuvenate, and prepare for the next day. Well said Mr. Norway at the destination. Sorry I was out of town for the US holiday last week if I missed your film. in-law business hahah Well done! Bravo. Mr. Norway.

Henseid National Park certainly is a beautiful place. Are there a lot of National Parks in Norway Martin? I wonder if this is a managed woodland or not. If it is, then those stone bases could be for summer alpine huts for the people managing the herds, perhaps when there was more grass than trees? The microphone cover must be good because I couldn't hear the trucks or the birds at that first viewpoint. I think you will have to take a container out with you and make blueberry pie at home. I was going to ask about tics. That is the first time I've known you hike on a path that was overgrown. It obviously isn't used that much. Do you have a new camera/Osmo/GoPro? That swivel is new. I know I hike 10 miles plus on my hikes, but that is because it takes me 5 miles to get anywhere. If I could get all my views in 4km, then that would be the length of my hike too. Yes, the trees have really shallow roots on the summit. It does make for real weird shaped trees. Beautiful drone footage and music, too. How high can your drone fly, Martin, and how high are you allowed to fly it. I couldn't juggle so many jobs in the house. I will do a job if it needs doing, but I don't give a flying f 😂 about how long it takes me. Mind you, if something really needs doing, then I'm right on it. I put a new shower in yesterday. I was done in under half an hour. The heating element had gone. So I can motivate myself when the need arises. It's a beautiful spot for a coffee, too. Another great hike, Martin. Thanks for sharing.

I had to go to google for this one haha... Mainland Norway has a total of 40 national parks. In 2015, Mainland Norway had a total of 2,107 nature reserves, which increased to 2,551 in 2023. Together, these cover an area of 9,360 km², which constitutes about 2.4 percent of the total land area of the mainland... Although at Henseid there's a Nature Reserve not a National Park as I thought. I think most of it isn't managed at all other than from those who maintain the paths (like me when I hike). Doing anything in a national park or reserve is not allowed (to a certain degree). I haven't bought a new camera, I think a 'selfie stick' is starting to fail on me haha. The legal limit is 120m above where you stand... But you can adjust it to 500m (absolutely NOT allowed though). I need to be occupied haha 😅 although I do need to relax at times as well 🥳🥳

Wow! This reminds me a lot of some of the hikes I have done recently in Southern Ontario Canada. I love hiking and when you have a nice breeze to accompany you then you get at least some respite from the bugs. I also find hiking (regardless of length or difficulty) VERY therapeutic and calming. Find what works for you and continue to do it as long as you can. Peace and quiet also helps (and thus not a lot of traffic on the trails)! Keep up the good fight and the videos of your journeys. I hope they bring you as much peace of mind that they bring me. Strength and Honor! Oooga Booga! (as James Alofs @wildhomestead ... another KZreadr I follow would say in a moment as this)! Keep safe, stay healthy and enjoy all that nature provides. 👍😎👍

  • @RoamingSouthernNorway
    @RoamingSouthernNorwayАй бұрын

It's almost always nice to be out on the blue indeed, especially when the waters are calm. Depends on the size of the fish and if it's allowed.. Cod is not allowed to fish for in these waters. But mackerel for example is allowed. If it's a decent size I'll take it home to cook 😁😁🤤

It is good to have the trail to yourself. I fully understand. Being out there helps you decompress. Some people, especially in northern and southern areas with less daylight in their winter, will be affected by SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). They say that a light therapy box helps. They will probably be Vitamin D deficient also. Another beautiful evening hike with stunning drone footage, Martin. It is amazing how people used to live too. I can't imagine Amanda washing clothes at the water's edge. Thanks for sharing Martin.

True, I also think that these changes comes as the result of stress, change in weather (recently been great, now rather bad weather compared), and of course other small stuff I don't know of somehow hah... It's just what's is I think Times were so... SO much different back in those days 🤯🤯

It is certainly great to spend quality time with friends. Catching fish is a bonus. If the fish stock is in decline, you would think they would restock it with native fish. The drone footage is beautiful as always. Thanks for sharing, Martin.

Ahoy, Mr. Norway Congratulations to you for marking another milestone 24KKKKKKKKKKKKKK The first time of a season! Didn't you have any problems with its engine? The water color is like black coals. I did not know you can fish with out fishing poles. I am sorry to hear even Norway has issues on declining fish population just like other countries. I thought about overexploited??? I guess not, but pollutions. FL has been working on coral restoration, so has been reef-in habiting fishes I could not help but admire the beauty of the paradise, Norway. The trees are wrapped by thick and dark green now. I bet sea breeze blow your anxiety from job/life, just like your hike. Stay safe. Have a blast, Mr. Norway with your family. haha I just got back from FL ..enough sea salt....yayayay I swam with BULL SHARKS, Mr. Norway. Until I feel fear and retire from YT, my adventures continue...

Haha greetings! 😁 You're absolutely correct, I did have trouble with the tilt engine.. But I fixed it this spring 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 haha, just some minor fixes here and there and I've done pretty much all that needs to be done with the boat (for now) About the fish.. I don't know haha, probably a mix of many things? :/ The color of the sea here is indeed rather dark, I think it's because of being this far north? 🤔 Good thing we don't really have sharks in Norway 🙈😂 Have a good onr Ms.Kayak7seas!
