I started woodworking when I was 12 years old and built my first treehouse. Since then, I have slowly learned more and more about woodworking and I try to get 1% better each day.
One day, I hope to bring my woodworking journey full circle and build luxury treehouses filled with a craftsmanship.
In the meantime, I would love for you to join me as I take on woodworking projects, review tools, and give you ideas and inspiration to build something yourself.

Instead of using templates one could just cut the entire board on a cnc. It would save a great bit of time and changing design is easy.
Never heard of a big green egg. Well, thats a lie. I have a hen who lays big green eggs. But that hole is way to big for even her jumbo eggs! Dont think big green eggs have caught on in my area. Maybe i can get a jump on this.....
If your going to walk into this area, haven’t watch this video all the way through yet so know that, also maybe plan to do similar for the chargriller grill. Mostly similar. Maybe your neighbors have that brand. And if your into 3d building, I am about ready to make something to help keep water out of the bottom tray. I think it’s coming from top vent but not sure. Maybe I should look that up. Btw. If your egg is green, you ain’t raising chickens anymore. Lol
@aaronblackford981 I don't have a 3d printer. But I wish you all the best with your invention! That is so cool! To make an improvement on such a high tech device is impressive. I'm sure you can make a small fortune from that. Don't tell anyone what the solution is. Cause they might beat you to it. And chickens lay green eggs. And blue. And brown. And pink. Very few lay white. That's just what the commercial hens lay. But other breeds lay a rainbow of colors!
@@wordswritteninred7171 the reason I posted this is because I know my track record. But ty for having the idea. Best of luck with what all you doing as well. As I learned, you ain’t doing to bad. Good for you. And ty for support the smalls
You did a great job with the video!! The desk looks cool. Your going to have movement issues down the road

nice vid! Have you ever made coffee pod holders? Pod coffee machines seem to be very popular. I had a scroll saw for a while and found making small wooden kids animal sets fun, can sell well in the right markets
I have sold 1 coffee pod holder...i think they're a great idea...
I have not made coffee pot holders. My wife and I are expecting our first child soon, so I bet I will be making some kids toys soon! Thanks for watching!
@@Ben_Grimsley congrats
Congrats!
@@myhoneyshandmade1077 Thank you!
If I want to add things to the pour such as spent rounds or small toys or coins. To I let the first pour cure completely or what’s the best way to do this? Thanks
I did this once with small rocks. I did a thin layer of epoxy and then let it cure. Then I added the rocks and epoxy. This will cause more bubbles in your epoxy, so watch out for that!
Besides cleaning off any excess bark etc did you happen to seal the timber first with epoxy before your live edge pour? I’m new to this and keen to give it a crack but I have mixed feelings as I’ve heard others say you must seal and yeh
I did not seal the edges first. I have heard mixed reviews on if this is necessary or not. From what I gathered, it helps prevent bubbles. But I personally do not think it is a necessary step. I hope this helps!
Awesome video!
Thank you so much!
I’m not a woodworker where I make things to sell. Recently I’ve been getting a bunch of tools to do a project for my house. I’m gonna make custom cabinets for my kitchen. But I have done other things too. I have made a barn door for my house on the real cheap. I wish I had a joiner and planer when I did. I used cheap pine boards from Home Depot and drilled holes on the sides of it and glued and doweled the pieces together. My clamps became insufficient so to finish the final size of the door I used wood blocks and ratcheting straps as clamps. I then used a map gas to burn in the wood and polyurethane finish. It’s a beautiful door. But now that I have better tools I may have to remake it so the boards are even straighter than what I currently have. Nice video. And I love the ideas.
That is awesome! I can relate to wanting to have more tools. Sometimes, it seems like I always need “1 more tool” to build the project I want to make. However, with woodworking, there are several ways to accomplish different tasks.
Can't take you seriously with that hat. Probably was something good in the video, but I'll never see it.
I hate to hear that! I usually wear a hat so I can mount my mic to it. Thanks for the feedback!
Very helpful video. I notice a lot of tear out on one end was that the result of using your planer
Were you happy with the pallet of wood purchase? Was there several pallets to choose from and would you buy them again. Thinking of making the 3 hour drive for a pallet. For me I use popular wood for drawers, jigs or paint projects. Great to work with just doesn’t stain well.
I truly cannot recommend them enough! This was my third pallet and they have all been great!
It’s crazy that some people won’t even share my page or products on my social media. 😢 Most of my customers are complete strangers and found my work thru hashtags. Let me know if you think my work is good enough. (JS Wood Co) Thank for sharing!! Have a blessed day everyone! 🙏🏼
Really cool build! These stools in walnut would look fantastic as well!
That would look great!
Did you have plans available? Not sure if I missed them
@@gvega17 I do not! May be a project I can put together soon. Just for reference, would you be interested in buyin plans for these stools?
@@Ben_Grimsley I totally would!
Fantastic video man, keep it up 👍 your doing a great job.
Thank you! This encouragement means a ton!!!
Great tips. Thank you sir!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and ideas.. I have been thinking about selling in a few of the shops (consignment) around our small town here in NW Georgia. I am also going to have a "Yard Sale" once a month starting in August thru Christmas.. I have been also looking into the ETSY Stores too... Thanks again..
These are great ideas! Let me know how these methods turn out for you!
Hey Ben another great video. I'm not seeing the link to your Esty store
Thank you! I just updated the description.
@@Ben_Grimsley Thanks so much for sharing 👍
I bought a kit of Ryobi tools 4 or 5 years ago with an impact drill, reg drill, jigsaw, recip saw, circular saw, air pump, light and a carry bag and a battery with charger. It was a well thought out collection of tools for getting into cordless tools and I use most of them frequently, especially the impact drill (not confident if I’m using the name correctly which will matter in a few moments). The real hook into the brand is their sales, especially Ryobi Days. Pretty frequently you can either buy a tool and get another tool or battery for free or buy a 2 pack of batteries with/without a charger and get a tool for free or even better last year for black friday they had a deal for 2free tools with purchase of a tool. Because of the sales I now have about a dozen batteries evenly split between 2 and 4 AH and recently got started in their 40v outdoor tools after picking some up in a couple auctions. Alsthanks to deals I actually have 2 of the palm routers but haven’t used them yet but will very soon. Also got their impact gun for removing lug nuts and installing/removing our 5th wheel trailer gooseneck hitch and it’s a beast. I had most of these before I started watching woodworking creators but find it comforting that almost all of them have at least a couple Ryobi tools that they periodically use.
Great video. Nice work.
Thank you very much!
What do you finish your coasters and planters with?
I use a semigloss polyurethane for the succulent planters. I think there is a link in the description of that video for what you’re use. For coasters, I use a beeswax and mineral oil blend. I want to make a video on this soon. Thanks for watching!
Love to see a video on types of timber , burls etc . This was a great video . I don't have all those fancy tools but have the basics . Would i still get a good result
I say go for it!
Great video - Thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
Truly brilliant tutorial; easy to follow. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
How do you make that coaster finish? Im thinking of getting into making coasters as a hobby, this was a great video full of great information thank you
Glad it was helpful! I will make a video soon on my coaster finish. Stay tuned…
It was never about the products or your woodworking skills that sell. Its how you matket your store. Why cant you address the elephant in the room?
Nicee How Much Weight Can It Hold???
That is a great question! I am not sure, but I have never had one break on me.
How well does epoxy behave as a cutting board? You have comments below about plastic getting in food, etc. But does it scratch a lot and get to a point that it does not look good?
Personally, I would not cut on this. I have heard people say you can, but my philosophy is better safe than sorry
Love the videos! Question: where do you purchase your wood? Any online shippers that sell black walnut for instance at a decent price?
Thank you so much! The wood I used in this video was from Keim Lumber in Ohio. I think Rockler sometimes will run sales on hardwoods that can be reasonable. For the most part, however, I have found it best to buy in bulk, or process your own lumber.
Terrible music

This router is a steaming pile of hot garbage! And this comes from someone who has an entire tool set of Ryobi stuff. My other Ryobi tools I love, but after having this router for only a year and using it less than a handful of times, it started to fail. And by fail I mean it would suddenly plunge deeper in a cut. So I went back to the handbook and made sure I was setting everything correctly, and I was. What I realized was the pertinent piece that travels up and down the depth shaft is plastic. It needs to be metal. This is what is preventing mine from not having this failure. I know these are cheap and this might prohibit Ryobi from making this component metal, but it there ever was a component on this router that needs to be metal in order to have it work properly, this is the one. I'm currently look for a replacement router OUTSIDE the Ryobi family.
I have not had this problem yet, but I can see it happening. I love my colt palm router from Bosch!
These turned out amazing! Great job Ben. Thanks for all the advise also.
Thanks for watching!
@@Ben_Grimsley of course! Keep up the great videos
Your projects are great. But unless you work pennies for your time spent I don't see anything more then a hobby
For me it has been a great side hustle. So, I can’t personally speak to if someone could make a full-time salary with these projects. I think there are many variables such as what market you are selling to, etc. Thanks for the feedback!
Hi Ben. Great video. How many coats of the Watco Butcherblock Finish do you typically apply?
Thank you! I think a minimum of two.
Am from India but I want to work with you sir
Great work, Ben! WDE!
Thank you! War Eagle
Nice work
Thank you!
Good job. Thankyou.
Thank you!
Loveee these!!
Thank you so much!
I. Love this!!
Thank you!
Great video Ben, very informative! I would also recommend a square (90 or combo square) and other measuring tools 😁
Good call! Thanks for watching
Nice board. How much you think you can sell that for?
I would price this board for about $100! Somewhere in that ballpark
What are the de mentions of your coasters?
I think these were 4.25” x 4.25”
Thanks!
Thank you for this video! I am going to make my next board using this method. Great information and well presented. If possible can you reply with the starting dimensions of the wood before gluing? Thanks!
Thank you so much! I believe mine were strips of wood 1” square and various lengths. This may not be 100% accurate because it was awhile ago that I made this board (I was new to making videos and did not take note of measurements like I should have). Hope this helps!
Great video gave us some ideas
Glad I could help
@Ben_Grimsley have you ever thought about using the WEN track saw? I just started a KZread woodworking channel and I am contemplating getting one but I don’t want to pay $900.00 for a Festool one. What do you think? Thanks for the great videos and inspiration!!
Who tells you youtubers to wave your arms & hands around like that?
Haha no one told me, that is just something I need to get better at. Good call!
Please do more simple projects like these. You explain everything thoroughly yet simply. Love the channel 🫡
Thank you so much! This means a ton!
We understand you can't count past 2... You are an Auburn fan! Just kidding. Great idea. Simple, yet effective!!
Haha Auburn fans can at least count to two because we have two mascots 😂 Thanks for watching!
