Nito Kendo Laboratory @ Silicon Valley "二刀剣道研究所"

Nito Kendo Laboratory @ Silicon Valley "二刀剣道研究所"

Welcome to my KZread channel !!
Let's explore the unique and dynamic world of two-sword Kendo.

This channel provides valuable Kendo insights and tutorials tailored for both beginners and advanced practitioners, not only two-sword but also one-sword, since the principles of the sword are same on both Itto (one-sword) and Nito (two-sword).

Even if you have never tried Nito Kendo before, these videos will help you learn and improve your skills. I present complex techniques and concepts in a simple and entertaining manner, ensuring that beginners can easily follow along.

Although there are many valuable Kendo resources in Japan, such as books and KZread videos, they are mostly in Japanese, which can be challenging for international practitioners to understand.

With over 20 years of experience in Kendo, I break down these resources and share my own tips and experiences in English, making them accessible to a global audience.

    Physicist here. Loved your video and how you approached the torque as a way to explain how to hit with the shinai. However, I have to make a small annotation to you fantastic explanation. Torque, as it is the product of 2 magnitudes, means that, for an equal torque, the shorter it is one of those magnitudes, the higher it must be the other. e.g. Let's suppose a toque of 1 N·m, with r=1m and F=1N. If I make my bar shorter (r=0.5m), the strength I must use to rotate the bar must increase by the same magnitude so for r=0.5m, F=2N. That's why it's easier to screw a nut the longer the key is, why it's easier to move out a sword by its tip insted of by its guard and by the doorknow is at the opposite side of the axis of rotation. I explain this because, in 2:14, you say "the shorter the distance from the axis of rotation, the less force is required", which is quite the opposite. Except for that point, your explanation, is certainly true when you talk about the center of mass (CM) and how to move the saber. When you use the CM as you axis, given that the distance from your hand to said axis is bigger, the force needed to make the movement is lower. You can also say that when striking one is aided by gravity, but that's something for those who love physics.

  • @NitoKendoLab
    @NitoKendoLab27 күн бұрын

    はい、全剣連が定めた剣道試合・審判・運営要領の手引きには『小刀での打突が有効打突になるには、大刀で相手の大刀を制している場合で、打った方の肘がよく伸び、充分な打ちで条件を満たしていることを必要要件とする。但し、つば競り合いでの小刀の打突は原則として有効としない』とあります。 要は、大刀が使えない状態(例えば、相手の胴打ちを大刀で切り落としたり、相手の小手を大刀で制した時など)に小刀での打突が有効になります。 が、実際は試してもらえればわかりますが、かなり難しいです(;^_^A 小太刀の形 1本目のような肘がしっかりと伸び、有効打突の6条件を満たしていれば有効打突として1本になります。 二刀剣道の目指すべきは、右でも左でも、大刀でも小刀でも、一刀でも二刀でも、どのような状態でも自由自在に操れる事で剣の理法を修練し、人間形成をはかる事です。 よって私は基本である切り返しを小刀でも行っています。

    I agree that the mindset for a successful execution of kaeshi do, it is a sen-sen-no-sen, otherwise, the first defence move would be too late, and the subsequent do strike could not be executed because of poor timing and distance is getting too close.

    私も少し前までそうでしたが、左足で引っ張って身体を前に持って行こうとしているので、膝が上にあがってしまい、そのまま重力で下に落ちるので、前方への体重移動ができていません。右足で床を押して身体(腰)を前に移動する感覚が掴めれば、息子さんと同じようにできるはずです。左足の踏み込みよりも、右足で押すことを意識してみてください。
