I have windows 11/ linux mint. My battery life is nearly halved by using windows. It also idles at one third of the ram of windows. I'm using a Acer vero. Which already uses barely any power. My power cord is 60w.

Your poll only filters for self-described experts and beginners. It probably doesn't account for the dunning-krueger effect, where someone may think Linux holds no more secrets right up until they hear the words "cron job" for the first time. It might be helpful to also ask people how long they've been using Linux, and how many distros they've tried, or maybe even a few competency gauging questions (if you can do so without pushing respondents away) to better gauge who's a noobie or not. I'd personally consider myself fairly incompetent, and I've been using Linux for 15 years and am trying to get a Linux Foundation certification. It seems like for the purposes of the survey I should fall in the expert camp of the poll, but would probably have fallen in the noobie camp just due to lack of confidence in my own ability

Clickbait title: "run Adobe Apps like they were native". Content of the video: "don't expect good GPU performance", "assign 4GB of RAM to the VM", "runs well for a VM". Enough said. Not a valid alternative if you need more than MS Word.

I stopped watching when you said “some games” and that I needed to check compatibility. Thanks for saying that up front. Let me know when I can do what I do now on Windows for gaming. I use Linux for lots of things…but not gaming. I will always have a native install of Windows…even if all I do on it is gaming…until that happens.

This is my first visit to your site. Very interesting survey and results. You mentioned skewed results. Let me add my experience from a year ago. I tried to install Linux (two versions from from two different "how to install Linux" videos. I was using a former Window 7 computer with abundantly more than the minimum required hardware. Neither install worked after multiple attempts, so I eventually quit trying to install it. I have kept up interest in Linux, however, and am ready to try again. There seems to be more information and support for running Linus than there was a year ago, so I am going to try again. I wonder how many other "wanna be" Linux users are not using Linux for similar reasons. Of course there is no way to quantify that since they are not Linux users responding to your survey. But I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thank you for the video.

This was an actual eye opening video. So much mess I have gone used to on Windows that I don’t even think it’s a mess. And so on point with updates. Windows has conditioned me to be afraid of updates that I feel like an old man saying no to them coz I like it the way it is now. I don’t think the same with Android and IOS updates and I’m always excited for them coz they rarely break the existing functionality of the device

one of the biggest issues I have (to no ones surprise) is software support, I'm not willing to just stop playing games my friends play and many of them are anti cheat enabled that dont support Linux, and in the case of Destiny 2 never will, and this is also why I stick to windows in general, recently I wanted to edit a short clip, I have an HDR monitor (which is another reason I stick to windows) so the clip was recorded in HDR, Davinchi resolve supports HDR but only on the paid tier and I do not edit videos enough to justify $300 spent, but I can always use a free adobe trial on a new account every couple of months at best I want to edit a video, and well we all know how well adobe mixes with linux, like peanut butter and vomit

What are your thoughts about getting Nvidia Surround to work on Linux? It works fine in Windows 11 on three 1080p 144hz GSync monitors for a total resolution of 5760x1080. However, on Ubuntu I could not get it to work for the life of me. Its impossible. I know Im not the only one out there whose running a triple monitor setup.

I've never "swapped" given I've got innumerable devices. But since the mid 90s I've found my own personal computing has slowly drifted from commercial offerings to almost exclusively *nixes and like OSes. Used Debian not long after its inception, on and off, then Ubuntu when it arrived. Tried many others (it's quite a list) but never got passed Mint since it came out. I have other systems but... Windows and Mac are practically irrelevant. The level of quality of Linux offerings has gone from impressive to stunning.

Since "Slack" is used to communicate quite sensitive information in Process Management of the Companies, which use it: Isn't using A.I. "sharing" of this information basically "Industrial Spying"?🤔🧐 I mean, *usually* Companies are quite "protective" of their work processes and the "Innovative Projects" they're working on...but if "Slack A.I." (not so) "secretly" shares it among all its Clients, wouldn't that be exactly the thing they all wanted to prevent from happening in the first place? 🤨😏 Sounds pretty stupid to me to "jump on the Hype-Train blinded by the Naiveté of its Novelty" - but that's emotionally immature "Adults" (or those who are aware of the hype and are just sociopath enough to try and make as much "ching-ching" out of it for themselves, no matter the consequences for anyone else!) for ya, I guess...nobody taught them how important it is to cut the BS from our own perception(s) first, so they think what *they* perceive is "da Truth and da only Truth" as if they're "inspired by the Divine Spirit" and entitled to "save everyone from our critical thinking"😅🤦🏻‍♂ I know I've been that way before I got a quite painful "Reality Check" in my 20s and 30s...but, I dunno if it's ok to let the "(inner) kids" of quite powerful (Tech- and Political) "Leaders" make a mistake, that could potentially annihilate all trust in fact reports and dissolve the very *Foundation of inter-human Social Interaction* (trust)... Whoever thought this was a "good idea", should be having someone else's 5 fingers talk to their f**king face to snap the f**k outta it! You're welcome...now, let's continue with the "Shit-Show", that Reality has become (also "lovingly" called "The Enshittenment" by @TheJuiceMedia amongst others). Toodle-loo❣😘

The only set of applications that are garaunteed to make you look like a 3rd grader's first book report no matter how hard you try to make it look professional. That and it's missing most of the functions you actually actually need. The suite has only had minor tweaks to the UI since 2010, it's added no addtional features. The "Excel" can barely do any sort of functions or formulas anything beyond 2 + 2 and you're SOL. Their PowerPoint makes Google's version look professional. That's the problem with Open Source and free they only thing they have to try to trash the competition while pissing on your leg and telling you it's raining. If you want to look semi professional and good, just use Google Drive, if you don't want to pay for Office.

And why on earth would a feature like recall need to be part of the OS itself? The OS should allow applications to run, not be filled with bloatware and ridiculous stuff that impairs your ability to run the applications that you actually want to run on your computer.
