So tight. Look at how paltry any freestyle is today in 2024 compared to this in 1986. Kind of embarrassing for today's skaters. Freestyle has regressed. In a huge way. Sorry Andy.

@MidwestRainstorms13 күн бұрын
No. Skateboarding wouldn’t be what it is today if it weren’t for him. He literally invented the concept of modern flip tricks. His thinking was so outside of the box that he was doing things that other skaters at the time couldn’t even imagine in their dreams. Remember, when skateboarding first came out, it was basically intended so surfers could “surf” on land. At best they were doing hill bombs and carving bowls of empty swimming pools. What Rodney Mullen did for the sport wasn’t just next level, it was next world

I love this little statement I found in an article: "If you ask a random person on the street who the greatest skateboarder of all-time is the answer you’re most likely going to get is ‘Tony Hawk.’ But if you ask Tony Hawk, or many of the OGs of skating, who the greatest skater of all time is the answer you’re almost certainly going to get is ‘Rodney Mullen.’"

It's a rarity you see someone clearly decades ahead of their time with talent, mind and everything. Rodney was that for skateboarding, quite literally decades ahead of his time.
