Hello! My name is Matthew Zisi, and I am fascinated by all things trains. Hopefully from time to time, I'll be uploading videos of some of the ones I've seen, so you can see them as well! If you like the ones you've seen here, be sure to check out my train photos at railfan3145.rrpicturearchives.net/ as well. Thanks for dropping by!

    Keep in mind, this one was heading west (so less than 100 miles into the trip). Eastbound - yeah, that would've been a miracle!

    I take the Empire Builder from Spokane to Portland semi-regularly, seeing how far it goes is such a trip

    I've taken it from Chicago to Portland - a fascinating ride! So much different scenery! Unfortunately, I was asleep when we went through Spokane, but that Columbia River Valley before you get into Portland is gorgeous!

    You can hear that person getting pulled over for cutting through the barricade LoL

    I checked the spot on the Google maps and as I understand it, the first car wanted to go straight ahead, i.e. across the crossing and thus had to stop and wait for the train to pass, but the pulled-over car wanted to turn right onto the road that is parallel with the railway track and thus didn't want to wait for the first car to move and passed it on the left. Now, I don't know anything about American traffic rules, so could please someone tell me what rules did he break with that maneuver?

    How often do these gates go down? I’m not from Chicago and here in Toronto the trains come every 3-5 minutes so I can’t imagine how it must feel hearing the ringing all the time

  • @Railfan-zf1du
    @Railfan-zf1du5 ай бұрын

    Yeah, not quite 3-5 minutes here, but probably about 15 at most! Shorter if the train's just come in and is going out again!

    Nice catch! This is the Wisconsin avenue crossing in Pewaukee wi. These signals are newer CPKC installs replacing signals from the late 90s. The GS type 2 on your side was reused from the older signals. I know all of the crossings in Brookfield/Elm Grove/most of Wauwatosa which is about a few miles east of this crossing. The directions of where this train was heading.
