Looks nice Mike!
0:56,lord my a.d.d kicking in because i was examining your nice bracelet 👀🤣. That clock would look so beautiful, painted like a glossy burgundy color😢. I can't even imagine the length of time to make just 1 of these type clocks, cant just spit them out onto an assembly line😅. Talk to you soon🥰
W is for 1998, 2008, or 2028. Regula 25 takes 275 gr weights unless it has music then the music takes 320 gr weights. Back in the day they used to send 2-275 gr weights and 1-320 gr weight. These days they send 3-320 gr weights. My very first cuckoo clock I bought as an anniversary gift for my exwife while I was going through the NCO academy in Kapan AB Germany. I bought her a clock that was a one day with music. I bought it in 1998. Brand new. It came with 2-272 gr weights and 1-320 gr weights. I assume they had a lot of questions and complaints that the music wasnt working so they started sending 3-320 gr weights. That rear plate just fell right into place for you. Great job as always Mike. Thanks for the shout out.
You did such a beautiful job, Mike, on this rare cuckoo. Love the dancers, the music and how you restored the case. Everything looks so perfect. Do you ever display your collection of clocks on your channel? I'll bet you have many that are so precious to you. Take care, and thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much for the info.
great video my friend
Complicated. I Think They Should Put The Name Of The Songs On The Clock.
Prices on ebay is ridiculous I agree mike
I agree with you Mike about the prices on Ebay! It's just ridiculous! I'm still waiting on Grandma's clock to come home hope we can get that happening soon..take care,,,Bre
Nice Video Just Mike Sir God Bless You 😊
The music is An der schonen blauen Donau [By the Beautiful Blue Danube (a waltz)], and Die Fledermaus Walzer ["Fledermaus" is a bat; so it's "The Bat Waltz" -- both were composed by Johann Strauss II] -- I looked it up😁. What a unique and beautiful clock! When I lived in (West) Germany for four years ('82 to '86), I was told that the Germans thought of cuckoo clocks as "junk." I don't know how true that is though. Wish I had bought a cuckoo clock when I was there. Thanks for sharing with us, Mike.
At 40min. You were putting it together, I kept looking for a timing mark. I know their should be some.
A lot of serious technical parts there have a good rest of the day
Beautiful clock. Wondering if you can use the nut part of a real acorn (shellacked or clear coated?) to fill in the missing acorns? Or can you buy wooden acorns on line -- probably expensive? The music box playing The Merry Wanderer and Eidelweiss is so sweet. You do an amazing job of restoring and repairing these clocks, especially cuckoos. Maybe the deer will have to be a doe without antlers? Can't believe you are going to carve some ears for him/her/them (LOL). Thanks for your videos, they are very interesting to watch. You certainly have your work cut out for you with this one, that's for sure. Can't wait to see the clock when you are finished with it!
Nice hunting Style Cuckoo Clock. You did a good Job my Friend. I enjoy your Videos. God bless you my Friend.
I enjoyed your video. I just got the Waterbury crystal regulator, so I'll see if it is set up about the same. I'm excited about it. I hope they shipped it right. It's supposed to be here tomorrow. I think these are beautiful clocks.
Sou do Brasil e estou começando minha coleção de cucos e aprendendo muito com seus vídeos 😅😅😅
Was the cleaning solution just ammonia?
Does the aciatone eveperoate
I like it glad you shared
I always put the clock back together minus the pallet fork. I then wind it up and let it run the mainsping down a couple of times and oil the pivots and put a tiny dip of oil on the gears - just to check all the teeth are engaging and the power train is smooth. Nothing worse than setting it all up testing it for a couple of days - taking it back to the customer and it stops
Normally I do the same, working in the oil and smoothing out anything I might have missed. That is certainly a nightmare when the clock stops after the customer gets the clock back. I always run the clock for two weeks to make sure nothing pops up unexpectedly. I also switched oils. I now use SAE 0W-20, Full Synthetic. Clock oil I was not happy with because it seemed I was always oiling my clocks again after a year.
I guarantee if you use brasso with a microfibre cloth you cannot scratch it - and it polishes up really well. There are no shortcuts or no magic formula, only brasso and elbow grease. Always remove the movement and separate the base and legs. The Polishing is the hardest part - putting it all back together is a joy
In the day, I use to use Brasso, but did take elbow work and not really happy with it. From there I went to Simichrome Polish that was very easy to use, but it wasn't cheap. And now I found MOTHERS Mag & Aluminum Polish that is very simple to use and not over $6.00 a container. You should try it and let me know what you think of it.
@@justmike57 Thank you, I will certainly will give MOTHERS MAG AND ALUMINUM POLISH 5oz (05100) ALLOY METAL POLISH a try - I still have 3/4 litre of Brasso to use use - thanks for sharing
Thannks for this video, Mike. I had to do a cleaning and some repair work on an old french brass and glass with a little round movement like this one. Your video was just the tutorial I needed!
I am very happy my video help you out. It's all about learning and most these clock are new to me as well and try to show what the clocks are all about inside.
Super 😊😊😊😊😊😊 dear 💞😊

I know that you know that you cant over wind a clock. They were made to be wound all the way up. I know that it was just wording. Lots of people say their clock is overwound when in actuality it is needing serviced/out of beat. You did a great job on cleaning the case up with that Howard Feed N Wax. I often use that or Old English Oil or whatever else I grab. LOL. Pulling the spring through that hole more will make the spring smaller and the clock will run faster. What you might think about doing is watch my video on putting this spring escapement in beat which there is a slot in the collar that you move it one way or another to put it in beat. There are classes that professional clock repair folks pay to see how to work on that type of system. There are folks that can bend the springs and straighten them back out. I hate this type of system. I purchased some from timesavers that are made in India. I have broke the stems trying to put new springs on. Again I hate this type of system but I have successfully fixed them before. Very good beat that you have. Very nice beat amplifier. As always great job. It is always nice when the clock is running again. Thanks for the shout out. God bless you and yours.
When it comes to over winding a clock, you just don't know my sister, lol. I did watch your video, but this clock didn't have a slot large enough to get the small screwdriver into. I might have to get even smaller screwdrivers. Thanks so much for your comment and stopping in to watch my video Mark. God Bless and have a wonderful weekend.
Hi Mike my friend thumbs up from us 👍
You are one of the Best, John. Thanks and God Bless.
Nice job well done
Thank you so much TheNDTShow. Have a wonderful weekend and God Bless.
Wow That Wax Made It Look Good.
When I was told about the wax, I used it and was amazed how fast and well it worked compared to what I was using already that was fast and easy to use as well. But the Price was amazingly cheap and so you know which one I will be buying from now on. Thanks so much for watching Bat.
Well done my friend
Thank you so much John.
That spring would scare me to change.
The Spring is a bit scary until you understand just what you are doing with that spring. They are a little bit of a pain, but look nicer, once you get it on and running. Thanks so much for watching and have a great weekend.
Hi Mike, my son just recently gifted me the exact same build of this clock, with the exact same outer carvings (3 birds), though some small differences in the outer doors and strike. Mine is also in pretty good condition, but needs a bit of attention. My son told me that he'd paid $50 Aussie for it, so it was great value. I'll restore this though my wife suggests that I keep it in our garage = really is a family joint venture :) Many thanks for this excellent tutorial vid. It is a great reference for me and the heir. I must mention that the biggest enemy of these clocks is weak wall mountings - gravity will win if the wall mounting can't take the weight. It will destroy a perfectly good clock.
We have to remember to find a stud in the wall to hang your clock up. Besides the weight of some of these clocks, when winding the clock, it is like a mini jackhammer. Each time you hear the clicking as you wind your clock, it adds vibration through the clock and to the hanger. It's always a great day when you can find a clock for a good price and to learn from it and get it running again is a joy and a warm feeling in your heart. It is sad that most wife's rule over the décor of the house and the after the hunt clocks upset them with dead animals on the clock.
Get the HD model folks
You are right. They now have two models to buy, unlike when I bought mine. I still can not believe a hydraulic jack of almost any size, can't lift the John Deere mower.
Hi What size suspension wire does it take ? Thanks
All anniversary clocks are not the same. In the book that I have, I would look up the exact match of the back plate to know what spring wire to use. In the book it also has the placement of the blocks and fork, yet, if you still have yours all together, but the wire broke, you should get close to the same placement as long as you mark it out on a piece of paper before removing the blocks and fork.
Wow, good job Mike. I have an AS clock real similar-it too is big. Appreciate your showing us how you cleaned the crud off to bring the clock back.
It is amazing the difference the clock looks after waxing your clock. The wood is normally thirsty and will get easier to break if not taken care of.
13:58😂😂❤
Your a Doll.
0:47,i would definitely put that clock inside my home, the details are something they just dont take the time to really do anymore with stuff😢,but ide have to mute all that tick tock noise😅
You might mute the sound at night, but in time you will not even hear the clock because you get use to the sounds. And if you hear the clock early in the morning, you will find your self counting the cuckoo's to know what time it is with out opening your eyes. Thanks so much for watching and you have a wonderful week.
Nice clock younszid you worked on it once before wow that mechanism is something else look at those gears nice mike
Sometimes these old clocks get a little fussy if you don't get things just right and sometimes it's just because they have so much wear from use. Thanks so much for stopping in and Have a Great Week.
Another great video. Out of all the pictures that I have saved on my computer Alexander Fleig uses a 5 cut away hole count wheel but that is on their spring driven movements. Very well could be an Alexander Fleig movement as you know that GK only bought and sold clocks but the cuckoo quail movements that I have pictures of dont have that big curve that trips from the quail to the cuckoo. Hubert Herr does. So it very well could be a Hubert Herr movement. However their count wheels are all 4 hole count wheels on both the quail and the cuckoo. I would leave the bird alone but you did great. The clock looks and sounds great. I love how you show some of your clocks at the end. Thanks for the shout out. God bless you and yours.
I am so happy that there are people like you that can find so much info on the computer. Lots of times, I wish I had a 10 year old to find things for me, but there is only a wife that doesn't know anymore than I, (But Don't Tell Her That) lol. Thanks for being you Mark. God Bless.
Thanks for the great video my friend
And thank you so much for stopping in John.
Your cuckoo gong is striking multiple bounces. The gong spring wire is wrapped up around the frame, putting the pressure the wrong direction. The wire should go around and down into the hole under the bellows lift arm, like the one on the quail side.
I will have to take another look at that. I might be making another video when I get time with a new problem. Thanks so much for your sharp eye Adair's Repairs. God Bless.
Is that a new intro? I like it. I'm working on the same movement again. I was going to fix it and it was working right when I put it on the stand. But the movement sometimes doesn't work right. So I've broken it down and fixed it over the last two days. Good video!
I have a new editing program. I couldn't stand the one I was using. With the wear these clock have gotten, because of the age and well loved clock, there are things we miss or have been hidden until we put a closer eye on it. I think I will be having another video on mine because of another issue that popped up. This will show that just because you already worked on the clock, there might be more issues to come. Mine has been working great for 6 months now and bam! in the shop it goes again.
That's a beautiful clock. It seems like just the nature of the beast that with mechanical clocks there are going to be glitches from time to time. I was glad you showed the clock with the quail on the quarter hour and the cuckoo on the hour at the end.
This is why it's good to learn about the clock you own. Just image, how much it would cost to take the clock in every time the clock would have an issue. Thanks so much for watching and have a great week.
WOW, Very Complicated Set Up.
You are right and that is why I started small and worked up to the more difficult clocks. Now, I sometimes pull my hair out, but it is truly a joy to work on them and get them back in order to run again for several years. Thanks so much for watching Bat.
That sure can be frustrating trying to get the tick with the right tock.
It's all in the eyes and the ears to get this clock running again Bob. Thanks so much for watching.
Hmm i think the wire that lift the cuckoo bird tail is a little bit too high, so it slip through the cuckoo bird tail and stuck it there:////
I have found that I forget to get the wire under the tail of the bird when I install the movement. I will admit the wire also needs a better adjustment for the bird tail as well. Thanks so much for your thoughts and thanks for watching Danh Khoa Nguyễn
