It may not be much but there is one consolation being had, the guy gets a ring as a back up for my Giants. So there's that at least.

Do you think part of the flak being had was also because there was a hype being had for a prospect of the Red Sox/Cubs WS that year? I remember how the media had been hyping up the possibility until after the LCS.

Big Devils/Stevens fan here -so I am biased.... but I will agree some of his hits (especially the Kariya hit) were late, his detractors will say his hits were dirty -however, he never used his elbows (a la Mark Messier) and those hits were considered legal back then. As far as Domi, yes, he should have fought him. But the flip side of that; Domi made himself vulnerable with his head down because he thought no one would dare hit him -and that is mostly true. But he has also to be given the opportunity save face after being embarrassed with an open ice hit.

For the NHL honorable mentions, you can now scratch the Florida Panthers off the list after they finally ended their 30 year legacy of failure with their first Stanley Cup in franchise history almost a year after this video was released

When we talk about the NBA in the 90s, we dont mean Jordan. We're referring to Heat v. Knicks v. Pacers. The greatest triple rivalry sports has ever seen.

Funny enough that 2001 series is the only time NJ has ever beat the Canes in the playoffs. Canes own NJ playoffs wise, series record is 4-1 aganst NJ.

Stevens work in front of the net is severely underrated. Dude was a beast. And, if you got caught in the nuetral zone.... well, ask Kozlov and Kariya. Keep your head up kids.

As great as Martin Brodeur was, Scott Stevens definately made his career easier by clearing the crease and putting the fear of god in anyone who played against them.

The NFL's Detroit Lions Made It To The Playoffs Despite Losing To The San Francisco 49ers In The 2024 NFC Championship. The NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs Are Already In This Year's Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Every one of those 'vicious hits' you used as examples were not vicious: they were DIRTY. All vicious hits have one thing in common: they're CLEAN. Raffi Torres intended to injure the recipient on every one of those hits, there was no hockey purpose for jumping off the ice to drive an elbow or shoulder into an opponent's head after they no longer had possession of the puck, and that makes those hits dirty. Just needed to clear that up
