Fun fact (or not fun if you're a Bruins fan like me). The Bruins-Panthers game 7 was the most watched NHL game in history aside from SCF or conference finals games.

I had no idea - had to look it up and looks like it set a first round record, but by a big margin. The previous high was 2.33 million, but this was at 3.10! The NHL's got a way's to go with it's marketing nonetheless. What a game!

I fell like you saved the best for last. 3 STL back to back to back + Matthew Tkchuck from STL on the Panthers. As a massive Cardinals and Blues fan I absolutely loved those! I remember both games vary well. Carlos Beltran through his career was a Cardinal killer. he did so well against us both on the Mets and previously with Houston when they were in the NL Central. Beltran did play for the Cardinals later in his career. Stars vs Blues Game 7. Both teams played very well. I thought both teams deserved to win. Glad the Blues won and won the cup. Dallas had tough exits in 2019 and 2020 vs my 2nd favorite team the lighting. I hope Dallas Stars can win soon. STL is a great sports city!

My choices for Best Game 7 performances: 1. MLB Jack Morris' 10-inning shutout in 1991 as Twins beat Braves 1-0 - Sandy Koufax's shutout on 2 days' rest in 1965 as Dodgers beat Twins (I cannot think of a truly astounding hitting performance in Game 7 of the World Series) 2. NBA -Bill Russell's 30 points and 40 rebounds in 1962 Finals vs Dodgers - In a losing effort, Jerry West's 42-point triple double vs the Celtics in 1969 - Both Larry Bird (20 points in 4th quarter) and Dominique Wilkins (47 points) were awesome in that 1988 East semis matchup too 3. NHL Wayne Gretzky's hat trick and assist as Kings beat Leafs 4-3 to advance to 1993 Stanley Cup Hockey is actually just my 5th favorite team sport after basketball, baseball, football and soccer, but of all these, I give it to the GREAT ONE, Wayne Gretzky

Another excellent look at some of the most exciting game 7's we've ever been privileged to witness. One that comes to mind in my top 20 would be the Bruins 5(?) goal 3rd period comeback against the Leafs. My personal fav would be the 1979 Bruins - Canadiens too many men on the ice game 7. Appreciate the time, research, and effort you put in this 2 part series, well done Nick!

Bucks v Nets was almost a bigger win for a lot of Bucks fans than the Finals were. The game was such an emotional roller coaster. And when you think about it, the fate of both franchises were determined by less than an inch of Durant's toe. That'll always eat away at Nets fans. What if KD had on his proper shoe size?

And in OT when Durant airballed the last shot, even had he made it, it would have counted as a 2 as he stepped on the 3-point line.

Kings vs Blackhawks 2013 Western conference finals. You had two top teams in the west; the Kings who had already won a cup in 2012, and the Blackhawks who won in 2010 and 2013. They also met in the previous years conference finals so it was the perfect rematch. Tight series throughout, with a few ot games already and game seven was no exception. In a tight 4-4 game in Chicago, Alec Martinez scored in overtime to send the kings to the cup finals! Interestingly enough Martinez also scored in double ot in game five against the rangers in the cup finals to win the kings their second cup.

Can't believe you left out the Lakers Celtics rivalry in the 60s. Three games 7: 1962 - Lakers lost in OT after Elgin Baylors record 61 points in game 5 giving the Lakers a 3-2 lead, and Frank Selvy's chance to win the championship at the end of regulation but missed. The Celtics won in OT, their 2nd OT win in game 7 of the final. 1966 - Lakers lost by 2 points 1969 - the balloon game, the Lakers lost by 2 points again after Don Nelson's shot bounced up 10 ft and dropped into the net...

Sorry, 2013 round 1 Game 7 between Bruins and Leafs definitely beats out some of these 20 you brought up. The only time where the empty net worked twice in the same period. Bergeron's best performance. At least its honorable mentioned, but I never heard the TD Garden so loud
