Wow never noticed how much that accent resembles what I heard growing up in Wisconsin haha. You enriched our lives immeasurably Gord. Safe passage, dear dear troubadour 🙏✨

Looks like it could have been one of these. From Lightfoot webpage. CBC RADIO - November, 1974 Lightfoot is interviewed by Sylvia Tyson, resulting in a wide ranging, rambling talk. CBC RADIO - Feb. 10, 1975 Lightfoot touches on reviews, writing and sailing in this interview done in Vancouver. TOUCH THE EARTH - CBC RADIO - July 9, 1975

Bruce you rock! Hardy Demon was stuck again. Tried the frozen paper towel trick, the two person technique, behind my knees. Nothing worked. Last time this happened, I broke the rod. Tried what you suggested with a cheap clamp and some gorilla tape and it worked like a charm. Saved me a lot of headache! Thanks so much.

This is the best interview i’ve ever heard with Gordon Lightfoot, because Gord was forthright, and not filtering his conversation. Gordon typically does interviews with a lot of carefully thought out answers. But in this, the real Gordon, relaxed and just talking with his friend Sylvia, is heard, saying what he wants and not sounding cautious or hesitant. Great interview!

Firstly outstanding, it worked. Even when ice , double handed technique didnt with 4 people. What is the model of clamp you used? I used quick grip mini irwin , and gorilla tap. I had to help hold the wood inline when pushing it appart. So thats why i think the irwin model of clamp is important.

flaws and all,..... Best. Interview. ever. Assuming this was recorded for Sylvia's mid 1970s CBC program, Touch the Earth. There must be a better recording of this, Touch the Earth was done for CBC Stereo, now Radio 2.

The authenticity of this recorded discussion is unlike any other public released interview, or otherwise. As a student of Lightfoot since 1963, this recording is a unique quanta in the raw....story ~ Drink yer glasses empty boys and girls!

This is an amazing interview. I think Gord wasn't completely sober (not unusual), but he is very forthcoming. I love Sylvia, and she brings Gord out in a very non-confrontational setting. Great stuff.

Try wrapping the tape tighter without any space between the wraps and/or use a different brand of electrical tape.

I've listened to this interview 3 times, trying to get a clear understanding of the context of all of his remarks. It was such a frenetic & chaotic time in his life. He talks about his "last album" -which was Sundown, released in January 1974 & recorded the previous November. & he has a clear month-by-month recollection of the hit singles & other events around it. But later on he also talks about having laid down the track for The Soul Is The Rock, Twice. Which was on the next album, Cold On The Shoulder. COTS was recorded Sept.-Dec.1974. But not released until Feb.1975. & he talks about right then being in a relaxed window of time because he doesn't have to write. So COTS is already in the can, but it sounds like it's not yet released. COTS was released in February 1975. But he doesn't mention his new album in the interview with Sylvia. I would place this interview in January 1975. It's a fascinating interview. Talking about the divorce from Brita having just been finalized on Dec. 31st.(1974) & he talks about being proud of The Soul Is The Rock, saying that he was trying to write it when he had just broken up with his girlfriend in August.(1974) -Which had to be Cathy Smith. What a tumultuous time in his life. & then talking about renovating the new house he had moved in to-which must have been the house on Beaumont Road where he would host some famous parties. What a time in his life. & he admits to being in a fog for much of it. To his closest friends, it must have been like watching a train wreck. I will always wish someone had intervened sooner, even though such things have their own timeline & they only happen when they can happen.

@@bethp.1806 His wife Brita intervened during their marriage and tried hard to get him to stop drinking stop sleeping around and stop becoming so enraged he'd break things-including his hand. So many people tried and tried to help him, but he denied needing help over and over again. He even tried to sue Rolling Stone Magazine when a story they did about him focused on his alcohol consumption and how it had aged and bloated him. This guy was determined to die, to be frank.
