This proper explanation of the fashion world clearly makes me realize, as depicted in the movie 'The Devil Wears Prada' , how the buying public is sold an illusion without even knowing they are being manipulated to purchase and value the cloth they drape on their bodies!! Brilliant and Machiavellian ! Well done and with a decidedly condescending English accent!

I have a closet full of vintage j crew. It’s a big motivator for staying in shape lol since I can still wear things from 15 years ago that get compliments alllll the time, the quality is unparalleled. Same with Ralph Lauren, etc.

Since Virgine is leaving the brand, who is going to take over. There are rumors that Hedi Slimane, Jeremy Scott, Pierepalo, or Jacquemus might be the next creative leader for the brand.

Am I the only one who finds it strange that Elisabeth Lagerfeld’s tombstone says she passed in 1965 and not 1978? One website placed her death in 66 as well. I wonder what this is about… did she fake her death back then in another diva moment 😂 answers please!! 🙏🏻

Banana Republic and JCrew is where most of my clothes used to come from. The quality has gone to sh-, but the prices are still high. Every time I see something I want online at JCrew, the item is sold out. Always. I don’t know why they can’t predict better how many of the items they need to make.

J.Cre, Ann Tyler, White House Black Market, Banana Republic all faced the same fate. They failed to change their business strategies when Amazon started gaining momentum. I have beautiful skirts, blouses, belts from these companies. I miss pre 2010s. Michelle Obama wore J.Crew's dress in 2008 when Obama gave the winning speech. Immediately that dress was out of stock.

@@understitchYT it is understandable, likely he didn't want corporations to turn his name into a commodity. Everyone else sold out. Even Tom Ford ended up selling his name to Estée Lauder. Many of these big fashion phenomena have no heirs, no successors, which made me seriously consider having kids a bit earlier than I otherwise planned.

Basically Fendy failed because 99% of their effort went into virtuo signaling & pandering towards a rather narrow demographic instead of, you know, providing quality products & services. In the end it's ironic that VS is still alive (despite having quality issues of their own) while Fendi is basically gone. Savage x Fendi may be doing ok-ish now, but it's a very niche thing which may die out soon.

Don’t believe anything negative about J Crew now. They have never failed me. 99% of my wardrobe continuously comes from them because I love the classic style. I always look forward to the men’s fall look book . I always make it a mission to snatch up one of their fabulous blazers . Have you seen their giant fit chinos? They are bad ass and I have every color they offer. I love them and will never stop shopping there . Their new app is super awesome and handy . My family love them too. I hope they will be around forever. I don’t know where I would shop without them. Thank you for this video. 👏❤️

I worked as a FT Manager for J. Crew for five years, first in Chicago then in Nashville. The quality is definitely not what it used to be and the price points now are utterly ridiculous. Almost everything is made cheaply in china now and the aesthetic is stale and downright ugly sometimes. My advice, wait until the inevitable 40% - 60% off sales before purchasing at J. Crew. The sale prices reflect the true quality of the garments they put out now. The other option is to seek out true vintage J.Crew, which believe it or not some stores are now reselling on the rack! RIP J. Crew it's been a slow and painful death.

Things that have kept me away from J crew in the last few years. 1) return shipping isn’t free. I need to be able to do free returns by mail. I don’t have a store anywhere close to where I live. 2) the quality has gone downhill a lot. 3) my main reason-prices are still too high and the sales aren’t great. Items are priced too high so even the occasional 40% off full priced items still doesn’t cut it for me. 4) final sale markdowns is something I will not purchase. I considered a linen dress thats on their website now. originally priced at $198, it’s marked down to $177 now, so not that big of a discount and it’s marked final sale. I won’t spend nearly $200 on an item that I don’t know if it’ll fit me and I can’t return. I know final sale items has become the norm for some smaller designers but it’s not the norm for majority of the well known, established online clothing stores. 5) lastly, overall poor style and design.

I'll always have a soft spot for the brand, it was the first "fancy" brand i found myself saving up for after high school and i even worked at a location back in college, 2017. I've moved on from the casual prep look near entirely now, but Babenzien's direction with the brand looks to position it well with the vintage loving crowd who combine streetwear and prep element, a look I genuinely liked till I let Yohji get ahold of me lol.

Coming to the defence of J Crew! While I agree that j crew factory leaves a lot to be desired, I am loving what I see on the website. I have purchased several items in the last two years and have been really pleased with the quality and fit. Maybe the title of this video should be the rise and fall and rise again of J Crew!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16 God loves all of us God loves everyone with an everlasting love. He is the father of our spirits. We are His children. He loves each one of us individually and wants us to come to know and love Him. He sent His Son Jesus Christ God knew that this life would be full of challenges and uncertainty. He knew that we would fall short and make mistakes. So He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life. He taught His gospel and showed us the right way to live. He willingly gave his own life as a sacrifice for our sins. He is our loving Savior and Redeemer.

I am a huge J. Crew fan. My 3 year old Lhasa Apso is named J. Crew! I still have a lot of catalogs from the mid 2000s. The mid 2000 style was one I desired to have. Jenna had this ability to take basic pieces and make them modern. The women’s pieces started to change a year or two before she left and I remember not liking the J. Crew style as much. I started buying more pieces from Factory. Now, I can’t remember the last time I bought an item from retail. I think it’s been almost two years in December. I think maybe I have bought two shirts in the last three years. The new head of women’s design, Olympia, is not doing any favors to the brand. I hate the current looks - cropped and boxy tops and baggy bottoms. Not for me. I will keep buying from Factory.

If Rihanna was regular, she wouldn't have been celebrated for her fashion all these years. Her fame did the heavy lifting. The clothing looked ugly and unflattering. Fenty hair will fail too bc she missed a golden opportunity to do a wig line. Now it just looked oddly competitive next to cedred.

Thanks for that walk down memory lane, really well done. I started as a part time sales associate in Philadelphia in Women's Classics. We would pull all nighter's doing floor moves and folding every item of clothing before a corporate visit. Aurthur and Emily even came to the store. By the time I left J. Crew about 1998, I was the Store Manager in Raleigh NC. There were some amazing years, a bit of a roller coaster at times, but I met some great people and life long friends. I still have a couple of pieces from Collection...it was my favorite line and the quality was incredible back then. I can't see a Rollneck sweater without flashbacks!
