How I wish Chopin himself could have heard Richter playing the Mazurkas. Playing and musicianship of this quality is beyond words. A big thankyou to FirstPublicChannel for this...and could we have some more, please.

this mfer was badass. was there in 54 when Gould played moscow. This is so quintessential Richter....what a giant. One of a small few I can listen to play Bach. But he wouldn't have played it like this were it not for Gould

Soon, I will receive one exemplar of his album with the complete recording of Ravel's piano works. I got from an auction that was made last weekend in my birthplace, Rio de Janeiro. I am very anxious to listen to his playing: today, although with another performer, I listened to Ravel's four fugues: very beautiful compositions that, if possible, I intend to play them on the organ. Thanks a lot for posting this!

very literally one of the outstanding readings of this work- I have been in so many rainy places, he captures the natural rhythm of it here. what a phenomenal pianist. he has the ebb and flow of a natural rainstorm captured in his interpretation

Richter completely captures the passion of Schumann's composition and his love for Clara Wieck.❤

Merci a FirstPublicChannel for this video !

In 1988 I was at a low point of my musician life, when on the ride back from Waterloo Music Festival to Manhattan, the driver had this piece playing. It changed my life - it gave me the courage to move on with my life. The same force that allowed Beethoven to break beyond the musical norm of the day in spite of his hearing problems, was being shared with me, and my problems all of a sudden became so small in comparison. Music like Beethoven's, Bach's and others have a way of reaching to the depth of one's souls and provide an oasis in the desert, proclaiming in a language that has no words, that basically, "your soul is not alone."
