Lana, these podcasts are so informative, beneficial for young teachers.
Thanks for the support. So glad you find them helpful. 🙂
Great podcast and what you described definitely occurs in other professions.
Glad you enjoyed it! It certainly does.
What was your favorite part of the video?
Good afternoon I am quite impressed with the author and being a policeman himself and was a teacher he has done the association proud
@edithtoussaint2179 Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It certainly is impressive. Being both an educator and police officer takes immense dedication and passion. I am grateful that he was able to share his story.
In addition to Step 2 enroll in an additional pension plan at least 10 yrs prior to retirement. For examples RBL TISP, Mutal Fund, an Annuity Plan many insurance companies offers this. The goal is to contribute 15% of your gross monthly income per month. This might be difficult at the beginning but it’s an investment for your future. Starting at a low rate of 6 to 7% and increasing it to the targeted 15% is also an option, but do it. It’s the only way of achieving a descent, standard of living taken into consideration, inflation, and as was mentioned, future medical expenses. We are getting older.
Thanks for the solid advice and welcome suggestions, Lester. Proper retirement planning is crucial for our future. Thanks for being realistic and pointing out the initial challenges.

Excellent topic and presentation. I do hope more people have a listen. Great job Lana
Thanks. I hope so too.
Yes, I understand what quiet quitting is about. I have seen it happen. I have felt the temptation and I have identified the justifications. But, I have fought this temptation to abandment of my students. They need me. They need my effort and consistency. I can go so far as to admit to the temptation. I can defuse the temptation by admitting to it, even trying it out. But I will come straight back to what is best for the student. This is a call to heroism. So it is hard, but I am strong for my students.
Certainly! In this demanding profession, it is tempting as there's a lot to contend with. But you're right-students need their teachers to be working at top capabilities. What you describe as a "call to heroism" really resonates. It's not always easy, but the difference you make can be rewarding in the long run.
I dislike the term burnout for some reason... I like "quiet quitting" for some reason. There are so many things teachers do beyond their job description without any reward yet we are constantly targeted
I certainly empathize with you. That's why it's crucial to address these issues and ensure educators feel supported and appreciated for their dedication.
Thomas Friedman spoke about teacher burnout in one of his books
@chadwicke lalla3323, I'm surely going to look him up.
I agree with you..there are teachers who can't wait to reach age 60 to retire.
Yes. It is an unfortunate reality. Just goes to show that this is an important topic that sheds light on the pressures educators face in today's world.
