  I taught middle and high school for years. I was astonished that, other than white people, no one was interested in their ancestors. I’d want to know my great-grandfather was Apache. I’d be proud to be Coahuiltecan. These folks have survived for thousands of years.

  I always thought I was Mexican on my mother’s side but after taking an ancestry dna test I found that I am actually coahuiltecan. I am an adult now and have been adopted since I was ten and now I just want to connect with my roots. I wish there was more information about language and culture online.

  I took a DNA test to see where in Europe my ancestors came from and to my surprise my ancestors mainly come from north eastern Mexico and southern what is now Texas. I love learning about this but it makes me sad to know Texas doesn't even recognize our people as a tribe or group of people n e more even though our ancestors are buried outside the Alamo and helped build it.

  Ancestry has me down for majority dna at 48%Coahuila, Indigenous American. I never thought Spanish WAS NOT my first language.

  We feel lost and want to learn more from our people beliefs from our tribe my brother and I have been teaching ourselves but the Pendleton tribe took my brother in when he was 21. We have powwows but I feel lost because I don’t feel the same. My mother Diane Rocha talked a little about it but when they moved to the north at age 3 from Texas to Oregon they weren’t allowed to speak their language and she was so young that when I was born in the north were we lived we hardly seen any tribe’s until I was adult. 😢 I want to learn from my ancestors

  My grandmother is Moreno but my grandfather is Andres Rocha and my DNA test lead me to the northeast plains of Mexico says I had a great grandmother born here in the 1850s to 1920s I’m looking for my spiritual beliefs and I feel like they are call me back to them. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated ❤️

  My ancestry results say I’m 67% indigenous from Texas & Mexico and 15% Basque. My grandfather was born in Texas but grew up in Mexico. From what I’ve been told my grandparents traveled between texas and Mexico. I’m glad I took the test. I want to find out more about my ancestors.

  I was born there, yet I'm not coahuilteco but tlaxcalan decent. Tlaxcala colonized that area, I can trace it back through my nahua last name, tlaxcaltecas where nahuatl speaking not coahuilteco

  I'm pretty sure I got Coahuiltecan blood. I my grandfather was from Saltillo, Coahuila, great grandfather from Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, great grandmother from San Fernando, Tamaulipas, and grandmother from Matehuala San Luis Potosi and parents from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. All of my family comes from Northern Mexico. Also my dad looks just like Dr. Mario Garza.

  I'm from San Antonio, TX. I did a DNA test and I have 61%, my mother 70% and my father 50% Indigenous Americas- NE Mexico. I have ancestors stretching from SE Coahuila to Corpus Christi, Texas. I would love to speak to someone to help me figure out what type of Native American Indian I am. I'm thinking Coahuiltecan.

  @@lolstrongmenIts probably connected to the border disputes with mexico along with the comanche. The comanche were nuisances to the us and mexico, so that might have irritated the us with local tribes. Nonetheless, i find it ironic so many politicians meltdown about immigrants from border cities yet their ancestors lived in the area longer than they did lol and were ejected often illegally via destroying land rights.

  Not surprising since mexico was home to huge populations that were not completely decimated by disease due to sheer numbers. Similar with west coast of south america, rest of central america.

  If someone is living in Mexico, but a DNA test shows that they have a large percentage of Native American blood, and the tribe is also in the United States and is federally recognized, can the person get enrolled?

  My DNA test took me here (35%) I don’t know my birth parents but my birth father I believe is very high %. I want to come here and immerse me and my 6 year old son in this culture and find my roots. I am open to making connections with anyone who wants to! Peace
