I do the same, but for blackbeard algae u leave covered fir 24 hours, after that I use a plastic scrubber and give them a once over and rinse....perfect...and I've noticed that in most cases the blackbeard doesn't come back....

Have you tried this with those soft silicone type ornaments? I have some fake yellow anemones that are turning black with what I assume is a type of algae. Wondering if a bleach solution would disintegrate them.

I would recommend if your going to use bleach I would rinse really well then put back in the container with some water and good dose of seachem prime and shake well and rerinse again to make sure the bleach is completely gone.

Perfect! I'm excited for it to work for me! I actually soakd the plants overnight thinking that would "loosen up" the algae with only water and when it didn't I ended up trying to get it off with a scrub brush LOL that didn't work either. Now I'm trying your method! Wish me luck!

THIS IS A MIRACLE!!! I was genuinely pricing ultrasonic washers and trying to decide if it would just be cheaper to get new aquarium decor, and then found this and ... *angels singing* ... everything looks brand new. Thank you!

Worked magic on my plants. I had tried for a long time to just scrub them in hot water and they had gotten to the point where they were black with algae. Now they look brand new :)

Does the algae on the fake plants cause cloudy water. Mine is cloudy A bit even though I do my water changes. But I don't go into to much detail when cleaning my fake plants

The bleach treatment works great! I had to upscale it quite a bit but I'm amazed how well it got rid of all the alga, black and green from all my aquarium items. I used a container big enough to hold all my aquarium items with hot water and 1 cup of bleach, shaking for the count of ten then letting it set for ten minutes, then checking again and rpeating three times, but I'm amazed at the results. Of course, I then rinsed off the aquarium items and bathed them in tap water, three times to make sure all the bleach was gone and reinstalled. Looks great. Thanks a lot for the bleach idea! Better living through chemistry!

Thanks for the video- my plants got so bad (I tried scrubbing and rubbing and boiling them, but they got continuously worse) that I replaced them. Going to wash the new ones for the first time today because they've gone green. Looking forward to not scrubbing!

I would generally cut the frozen cubes into 1/4a and just feed a quarter at a time..they would do good and not waste that much

Just use lemon juice you find on the supermarket shelves, 50ml in a bucket full of water will kill the algae and not fade your plants like bleach or hot water will, rinse thoroughly.Lemon juice does not harm the fish!

Should always use a dechlorinator like Prime before putting them back in the tank. Shouldn't really use a scented bleach either. And for the love of God put a shirt on! Lol

If you do this regularly I'd suggest using gloves. Bleach chemicals can penetrate the skin, damage the epidermal layer and even end up in the blood stream. Just one of many precaution links www.house-cleaning-howtos.com/cleaning-with-bleach.html
