This channel is dedicated to certain teachers, mentors, and influences whose work, techniques and methods should not be forgotten. The first tribute series will be two complete concerts by renowned dramatic tenor and pedagogue, Thomas LoMonaco. The concerts, recorded in 1953 and 1954, accompanied by Metropolitan Opera assistant conductor and coach, Alberta Masiello, offer a glimpse into LoMonaco's unique artistry. The videos themselves contain numerous articles, career memorabilia, reviews, and production photography dating to the period of the concerts. Those releases will be followed by numerous recordings from earlier in his career including a number of arias recorded in the studio of his teacher Dr. Douglas Stanley, as well as a trove of material featuring the work of his brother, internationally accomplished lyric tenor Jerome LoMonaco.

😍
He was the best on par with Caruso in my opinion. I just wish there were more recordings to enjoy
This hauntingly beautiful
Amazing!!!
Interessant 😮
I've never heard of him
A very special singer...and man!
Incredibly good and beautiful no one arround theses days like him
Agreed!
Jerome Lo Monaco had a beautiful lyric tenor voice. I saw him in Rigoletto circa 1960 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and he was a very fine singer.
I wish I could have heard him in person, but I will never forget the sound of his voice in lessons.
So beautiful and with great style. I never heard his voice before this.
Wow she is amazing
Chapeau.
One of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. So deep and rich, squillante yet somehow so warm and enveloping. Tremendous.
At it's best, it was one of the most beautiful voices.
What a voice and technique!
beautiful singing
„Die Rose die Lilie...” in one breath xD
Terrific. A treat
Terrific!
Great rendition! The video linked in the description is not available
Masterful, magnificent voice, thank you.
I saw LoMonaco TWICE in Rigoletto at the Brooklyn Academy of Music circa 1960. He was a very fine lyric tenor that sang extremely well. His voice wasn't quite as large as it is here, but He was an impressive Duke. He never sounded like Di Stefano and didn't have to.
Damn get this guy on more musicals!
Sounds fantastic. Boy he was great.
Fantastica voce e tecnica.
Such artistry! Grazie mille.
AMAZING!!!
Voice from Mars!
steel metallic voice high and powerful to shoot a star... totally fantastic!! Thank you.
My goodness!!! I've never heard of this singer before!!!! How is that possible???? This is a heldentenor, with the whole dark baritonal colour, and those brightest high notes!!! I'm speechless... Thanks for this gem!
Sublime
Incredibile! That first Bb made me shout bravo on a packed train
truly magnificent singing.....
this voice shall be heard all over the globe, what a treasure! Bravo,
full voice, young, colorful, fly as high as it gets, such a handsome voice!!! Glorious!
this is a true heavy lifting, where can I find another on today's stage! Wow, glorious master of classic art.
Wow, this is so so beautiful, how come I did not know him before!!! Bravo, grand tenor!
Great singing
I appreciate what he did with "A Vucchella" at 30:00, demonstrating how a big dramatic voice can sing lyrically.
No question about the quality of the voice. The high notes are clear and sparkling - the envy of any tenor. However, I find that the artistic portion lacks homogeneity. Some phrases are tender, even melting while others are hard, devoid of feeling - almost steely in textural sound. On balance, this still an above-average recording. A tenor well worth hearing more of
non conoscevo prima questo Tenore . ottima voce ! bravo !
Many thanks to Scott Flaherty for posting these performances by our beloved teacher. He was one of the great singers of the twentieth century, as you can hear, and an exceptional teacher. As a man, he was one of the kindest, most generous, and psychologically astute people I've ever met. A joke teller and raconteur par excellence, he was also probably the funniest. I loved the man. Rest in peace, Tommy.
Una maravilla
It sounds Melocchian.... Very good voice full of squillo.
