    saying that Valentine's motivations line up with the ones from our real-world leaders might be the biggest proof that he's a despicable sociopath.

    I think blaming not liking part 6 on misogyny is an... Awful take. I don't like it personally because it simply isn't interesting. The protagonists stand and crew dont interest me or hold my attention like the Crusaders or Morioh Warrior, and I find thebplot goes a bit off the deep end in a way I simply can't enjoy. I didn't like part 5 either since i just... Found it ugly. Its higher than part 6 but the fashion is just not my thing and that really pushed me away, also Giornos stand seems like Crazy Diamond 2.0 which made it not fresh coming after part 4

    Part 7 Hot Take: While I do agree that Part 7 is one of the better written parts, I don't think it's one of the best parts. For me, Part 5 is one of the best parts in the series. But that's my opinion, I always liked Part 5 even before the anime. But it has been years since I read Part 7.

    I will stand by the fact that Valentine is not evil. His goals are ultimately righteous, but he goes too far in trying to achieve them (This is what we in the industry call "chaotic good"). He saw a way to bring prosperity to his country and, like a red-blooded, god-fearing, burger-eating patriot, sought it out to ensure that his people would be safe and happy forever. That is a man I would put in office. That's my fucking president. (and he did not know it was Lucy he thought it was a normal spy so he can't be called a pedo for that)

    @@Hamon_Beat Ok, I found it in chapter 62. So, he does say that he has “taken a liking” to Lucy, but in context it sounds more like he’s talking about respect instead of attraction. He also said that so long as she doesn’t do anything drastic, he wouldn’t do anything either. Which yeah, not cool either way, but that’s the ‘chaotic’ thing I referred to earlier. Also, another note, the U.S. age of consent in 1890 and until 1929 was 14. So, not saying it’s ethical, but it would not have legally been considered pedophilia at that time, so the moral compass of the general population would have been more accepting for Lucy’s age. I am not saying that makes it ok, but that was the normal legal age at that time. Final note, I am not a moron, I am a dumbass. There is a difference. One lacks basic intelligence and the other puts spoons in the microwave to see what happens. Get it right.

  • @Hamon_Beat
    @Hamon_Beat4 сағат бұрын

    He says "I won't do anything either EXCLUDING what happened on the table" so he's still going to. One page later he says he is going to take her clothes off. Also, within the story of SBR Lucy's age IS questionable since multiple characters comment on her marriage with Steven.

    agreed with most of these but my biggest gripe was how "an adaptation can never surpass the original." there are multiple examples of adaptations surpassing the original, and araki himself had influence over the anime's direction with hindsight of his manga's success

    The interesting thing about Dio and Heaven is that we see what his idea of Heaven is. In the Eyes of Heaven game, Dio attains Heaven and The World becomes The World Over Heaven. It's the same stand but now it can alter the reality of everything it touches. Dio's idea of Heaven isn't a world where everyone is happy. It's a world where HE'S God.

    My JoJo hot take is that people who find Joseph cheating on Suzie Q as character assassination either didn't pay attention to Joseph being a huge dirtbag at times during Part 2 (him being a cheating punk and a liar was kind of the big character trait that separated him from Jonathan) or have a very naive outlook on marriage, specially one as long and that started as early as Joseph and Suzie's. I don't find it entirely unreasonable that an attractive man with a history of being a hustler (actual meaning of the word) and all the money in the world would have a fling at some point during a 50 year old marriage that started when he was not even 20. Specially during a time period when male infidelity was pretty normalized.

    Personally, I'm of the belief that Part 2 is not the strongest part. While it had many cool elements, it felt like there were some elements I feel Araki did not convey well or were held back from doing, and its mainly with the supporting cast of Part 2: 1. Caesar being Joseph's friend was not really handled that well since their bond felt like a few scenes or chapters were missing, and his entire death feels contrived. Caesar was just a rather unpleasant character. However, the reaction to his death from Joseph and Lisa Lisa was great, and I did like his introduction scene. 2. Lisa Lisa I think should've done more. I wish she was in a fight since she only ever fights jobbers and gets screwed over easily. She's a great character otherwise.

    One of the things I hate most about this fandom is them treating valentine as heroic or an anti villain, he’s my favourite villain and I think arakis hard work paid off considering his charisma leaves the panels of sbr and influences the fans BUT I think saying that valentine would be the hero if you read the story from his perspective is incredibly stupid, if you actually look at his action past the surface of what he does it’s obvious he’s a villain and I feel like sbr readers don’t understand what he does either, he’s one of the worst villains we’ve gotten and idk how people don’t see his actions are villainous

    Part 4's ending was not at all underwhelming because Kira's death was so unique and unexpected and then you get to see him dragged to hell in the alleyway shortly later giving that moment of sweet sweet justice. IMO part 5 had a terrible ending. GER is so cool but there was barely a fight at all and while his infinite death loop is cool, it's not nearly as good as others. oh and the entire final ep of part 5 is kinda dumb too. Now I do think the sleeping slave arc is decently important for explanation but I really hate that that arc steals the ending of part 5

    The first time I tried getting into the series I tried starting with part one, as I usually hate experiencing a story out of order, however it failed to retain my attention. When I much later tried part 3, that's when I really got into it. It's for that reason that I'm for people starting with whichever part they think they'd like best; it's one of the perks of the series' format. (I have since seen part 1 and 2, but it still felt like kind of a slog to get through, but I recognize it's just a matter of personal taste.)

    I think my biggest hot take is that Giorno and Part 5 in general is my least favorite part, I mostly just find him very bland as a protagonist. The start of the part sets up the idea of him being a more morally gray character with his connection to Dio that I feel isn't very well explored past the first couple chapters. The same for Golden Experience, it is boringly overpowered, because of the whole damage reflection thing. His insects being these fragile things that can be swatted away without any thought, that he has to rely on to win his fights would be a lot more interesting then just if my opponent hits them, they die because that's how my stand works. Even if that aspect only comes up really in his introduction, it ruins the tension of later fights because you know the villain can't do anything to stop the animals.

    A few things that bug me: People who claim Rohan is Araki's self-insert character, when he's pretty adamant about that not being true. A lot of times that assumption led people to avoid Araki at cons and whatnot bc they assume if Rohan's his self-insert, then he must act similarly to Rohan IRL, when Araki himself is a chill dude who likes talking to his fan. Fans who constantly go "ohhhh why didn't Araki bring back XYZ characters, he should've brought them back!!!1" when iirc (I think this was in one of the JoJonium prints of the manga) Araki himself said he actually doesn't like bringing back old characters like that bc he sees it as pandering too much to the fanbase. Like, no, the old characters' stories are complete; it's time to move on to something new.

    I am a Doctor Who fan (god help me) and I kinda do agree with that specific take. While DW is built on the work of countless creatives as opposed to just one, the 2005 revival also builds on 42 (as of 2005) years of context and themes from the older version of the show - and that context is not something you NEED to enjoy it. A bunch of stuff gets brought back in the 2005 revival - The Master, Daleks, Cybermen, and so on - and while fans who know the context have a greater understanding of these aspects, and the themes that usually accompany them, newer fans don't need to specifically have that knowledge - the show gives them what they need (most of the time). For Jojo, take Diamond is Not Crash: a new reader would benefit from having the context of part 1 and part 3 for the DIO and Jotaro stuff, sure, but I wouldn't say it's necessary, and the part itself gives them the context they need through bits of exposition from Jotaro. In part 5, the significance of the photo, polnareff, and other DIO references might pass over a new reader's head, but the story is primarily about Giorno's journey and you don't need the extra information for that aspect. Parts 3 through 6 all have in built "Stand powers 101" sections at the start as well, so that's not an overt issue either (Haven't read part 7 yet, kinda just waiting for the anime, my memory of Part 8's opening is hazy on the stand explanation side, but you kinda get it with Yasuho discovering Paisly Park, and Part 9 has a bit of exposition in the square boxes I think). Would a reader/viewer *benefit* from starting from part 1? Sure. Is it *necessary*? I don't think it is at all

    I like Kira, but I like how petty and flaunty Dio is more. I think Kira is better written tho. Kira does just about everything in well thought out preservation of his normal life. He goes into hiding because he got caught and needed to lay low. He dies in a normal way, he gets hit with an inconvenience and is caught because of it. He panics for a second when something goes wrong and makes sure to try to fix it before returning to being calm. If Hayato wasn't so suspicious of him, Kira wouldn't have been caught. With his arrogance, I think it's because bites the dust already won and reversed time. He wasn't expecting that he'd need to recall Killer Queen to protect himself. He really did feel invincible in those two episodes. Not to mention, his theme is perfect for who he is, it's a normal and quiet theme with nothing out of the ordinary, then there is the dramatic and sudden swelling of the music when he murders someone, before very quickly returning to normal as he quietly removed someone from Morioh.
