You do not perform a jones tube if the horizontal lacrimal duct (that is the canaliculi) is patent. In that case another DCR is recommended. You will have to stop boxing with a Jones tube because it could break easily in case of trauma, but you can fly as much as you want. A tube if well positioned can last many years up to 15 years probably but a replacement might be necessary after a few years. Hope you found my comments helpful.

Today I had the exact same eye operation using FCI autostable intubation because my water vein in the eyes was blocked which caused watery eyes. Now Even after this surgery I am having watery eyes. Is it normal?

Can you please inform me about the life of the new tube? And if i have to (life commitment) eye drops to ensure its clear to prevent blockage in future? I did the DCR back in 2016 and it was unsuccessful, however i am still suffering from a blocked tearing duct. Currently i am 27 years old and i am trying to find a good, effective and hopefully a permanent solution. Thanks for the video.
Hello! I have had a surgery called DCR because i suffered a blocked tearing duct. Unfortunately it wasn't successful. Howerver my doctor advised me doing the jones tube or trying to do another DCR. I would like to know more about the joned tube. Like i do boxing sparring would that stop me from doing these kinds of sport? And number 2 can i fly on airplane without troubles? And finally how long that jones tube last? Sorry for making it too long but i am 27 years old and i have suffered for at least 7 years with a blocked tearing duct. I can see difference between my eyes specially in photo and that makes me sad but anyway i d like to know more about that tube.

Looks like a horrible procedure. How much does the cleaning solution burn after the anesthesia wears off? How do you keep from scratching the eyeball with that plastic thing?

I had this done in 1997 in Israel. My implant was gold. It is still there with no issues. Since there is always a 'bump' in my eyelid, my eyes are not symmetrical but I camouflage it with make up, faux eyelashes, etc. Noone knows until I tell them - I still do not have 100% closure so I suffer from dry eye, but without the weight I would have probably lost my eye

The worst stent to use honestly. Should be renamed to autoUNSTABLE. I prefer crawford, mini-monoka and pigatail. I don’t recommend using this one, a waste of money.

It wouldn’t. The wings of the self-retaining stent sent II are rigid enough to be self retaining but they are also flexible enough to bend themselves in the opposite direction while withdrawing. Don't know if it's any use after 4 years, but the eye doesn't close, they have to actively shut it. When they go to sleep they have a hard lens of cap over the eye and eye drops for protection.
