You do not perform a jones tube if the horizontal lacrimal duct (that is the canaliculi) is patent. In that case another DCR is recommended. You will have to stop boxing with a Jones tube because it could break easily in case of trauma, but you can fly as much as you want. A tube if well positioned can last many years up to 15 years probably but a replacement might be necessary after a few years. Hope you found my comments helpful.

Hello! I have had a surgery called DCR because i suffered a blocked tearing duct. Unfortunately it wasn't successful. Howerver my doctor advised me doing the jones tube or trying to do another DCR. I would like to know more about the joned tube. Like i do boxing sparring would that stop me from doing these kinds of sport? And number 2 can i fly on airplane without troubles? And finally how long that jones tube last? Sorry for making it too long but i am 27 years old and i have suffered for at least 7 years with a blocked tearing duct. I can see difference between my eyes specially in photo and that makes me sad but anyway i d like to know more about that tube.
