Sadly I am not going to ever get one. My "journey" to get one was so off putting that made me feel like a beggar and when I finally got to see one in person, the appeal just disappear! I am now an owner of a Longines Spirit Zulu Time( instead of the Explorer 2) and Nomos Tangente Power Reserve. The irony of all this is that I still like my 5610u and Casio Lineage.

Thank you exposing such incompetent ADs and watch maker. I can imagine your disappointment after spending your hard earned money with high expectations. These so called "HYPED" luxury products treat customers as if they are doing us a favour by selling their product after taking our money and making us to wait. Customer is the KING in a luxury market. Ideally your watch must have been replaced or refunded without any drama, PERIOD.
The 2824 version of the Skindiver is the "TOP", since it incorporates the "Incabloc" shockproof protection!

Nice coverage of the topic! I am not a Seiko fanatic, I just happened across the glacier and decided I wanted one. And then I learned that it’s not available any longer. Seeing your video makes me wonder if a lot of owners are holding onto theirs in hopes the value rises. I’m not a collector. I just like the watch, which ticks a lot of the boxes for what I want.

I just recently bought mine! I'm kinda excited to get it since it will be shipped from JP. I mainly chose this because of its colorway, its retro look. I really like retro looking stuff, I even have the CA53W calculator watch, F105 for its better backlight vs F91 and A158W.

I've given up on seiko due to the QC problems I've been experiencing. I bought a San Martin 62 mas instead of the seiko and I'm very happy with it. Another one is a SanMartin 62 mas chronograph. Seiko did not make a chronograph so it is an original in my opinion. I use an app as a time grapher and it is spot on. It's called watch accuracy meter.
I used various apps but opted to buy a timegrapher rather than give money to the tax man, its a legitimate tax write off

My Citizen ny0040 runs 2,5 to -1 seconds a day after wearing it for the first month on my wrist. My King Turtle is almost as accurate. I was considering a Seiko Sumo with the same movement but after watching your video, I will go for something else.

I found a company called Londiny which sells fake ones for 230 $ with a so-called authenticity certificate and money-back guarantee. Well, it is just a scam. The weight of the watch was not correct. I had checked Trustpilot, but it is full of AI generated fake positive feedback. When you start looking at the negative ones, you find they all say the same: the watch delivered was fake.
The alarm is barely audible, which makes it practically useless.

I bought mine in June this year. I was told explicitly I would get mine the following month and sure enough I got it. I waited a year, and then made a couple of visits to make clear my intentions. Originally I wanted a datejust but it was too flashy for me. So I changed it

I own both of these and I just cannot come up with a single reason other than “because it looks cool” that I want another G-Shock square. Only a MIP 5610 with multiband 6 and solar charging would be a fair successor for these two watches.

Thanks for the review. I find their eye for detail quite exceptional. I should also note that their website, product photos and openness about information is on a level higher than any other watch brand that I can come up with. That bodes well for their future. The only reason I haven't bought a watch from them is their brand name. Maybe it's just me, but it feels fake to consider wearing a watch brand named "About vintage". It signals to me that they're just a brand copying older designs with no personal character. That cheapens everything else they do as well, even though I think they have great talent for design.
Maybe they will get more adventurous as they mature but the business model works... Look at Steinhart

Remember that all the kids with their smartwatches are doomed when the apocalyp days are coming. Our watch will still work just fine and all the smartphone people will ask us; Sir, can you please tell the time? 😅

Saw this a few months late! In August 2020 I phoned the AD and asked to be put on the list for a 39mm Explorer. I had no past history and did not visit the store. 7 days later I got a call saying a watch was available (I can only imagine other people on the list turned it down) After I got the Explorer I asked to be put on the list for a no date Sub and got the call in February 2021 to come and collect it. So with no previous relationship or purchases I got the 39mm Explorer and a 124060 No Date Submariner within 6 months I then put my name down for a 126710BLNR GMT Master II (Batgirl) Three years on I am still waiting for the call on that one but have popped in to the AD a few times to,let them know I am still interested.

I got both Explorer 40 and Sub (non date). I honestly say I love them both dearly. I got the call 3 weeks ago, and I went in to pick it up just like that (after 3 years of waiting).
