Christina Muscari

Christina Muscari

Welcome to Pretty Distressed™. I’m Christina, a full time KZreadr living in Franklin, Tenn. who has a passion for furniture makeovers. I take thrifted pieces of furniture and refinish them into completely new creations.

I love trying new products and techniques and sharing the experience with you. Sometimes projects go really sideways before they get good. And I show you all the ups and downs. Even after 7 years of refinishing, I still have lots to learn.

I love neutral colors and natural wood tones. But I will step out of the box every now and then to push myself to try something bold or ornate.

I’m your biggest cheerleader. Whether you are looking to refinish your own pieces, get into the furniture flipping business or maybe go the influencer route. Thank you so much for being here! And if you just like a good before & after…I’m your girl, too.

I probably would not have altered the base as you have; but I certainly understand why you did. Speaking of spiders under the base; If you simply install backers in the openings you eliminate future access and it adds support allowing you to then reduce the feet as much as you like. Personally I dislike open undersides on furniture because it's always a cleaning headache. You did a wonderful job on this. I subbed. :)

I was amazed at your video. The fear before your speech is personal, and I would bet it's personal to so many people. But I'm also amazed of all your videos, this one has a smaller number of views than most of your reels. So many are missing the truths you spoke of. And so many are missing the truth (TRUTH ) that God is your pilot and my pilot. HE coaches us, HE enables us, and sometimes HE catches us! What a lovely talk. I'm probably twice your age and I have created for decades starting with quilting in the 1970s, teaching, refinishing, a little painting and furniture creation, even woodworking. Still I'm about to dive back in to refinishing a $40 piece we've had for 10+ years and paint, add architectural details and transfers, and add to our decor. Good job! I'm so glad you said yes to that urge, gladder still that you said yes to God and then experienced the release from a fear that had dogged you for perhaps a long time! Gosh, I hope I meet you someday-- who knows where life will lead each of us! Blessings!

What a coincidence! I was watching Christina/ several videos tonight and then found this one-- I've been watching you K.Scott faithfully for "maybe" a week. But what a fiathful week it's been. DH is gone on a consulting job and I'm just surfing the diy furniture painting videos. Some I like, some I like less. But both of you capture what I love to watch! Thank you for this video! Glad to know now you're even friends!

The way I see it, to each their own. Some people like painted furniture, & some don't. Both sides are OK. Personal preference. The world would be boring if everyone like & disliked the same things!

Dates? Yes. Are we supposed to continually buy new furniture to keep up with changing tastes? Why not buy classic furniture that will be in good taste always? When money is short, shop estate sales.

First time watching… You made that old, tired piece of furniture look great! I can tell you’re creative. Looking forward to more content. I have a very similar piece that I recently picked up at resale store. Bottom is identical to yours. The top piece is more like a cupboard with 2 doors of glass. Would love to see how you’d do this. I’m stumped.
