Such a good trick to add a bit of blue to the stain to counteract the red in the wood! The lighter colour definitely gives it a much more fresh and modern feel 😍👏👌

Very enjoyable video to watch. Right now I am just stripping old oak chairs and rubbing with danish oil, but after 8 chairs I am finally done. I went through a lot of stripper but used wire brushes to get into the grooves. I have two old bureaus that are too dark and want to strip them with a light tone, where I can still see the grain. Your video was very helpful. I like how you modernized the base. I will have to do the same, must be a 60's thing to leave scalloped edges. I like the pale tone - yet you can still see the grain of the wood. Am keeping this video to refer to. Well done.

I've been checking out furniture flipping videos for some months now, collecting ideas & considering the hustle potential. Always having been crafty, I've done some refinishing & learned a little wood working over the years. What's happening now, (post export of a lot of manufacturing & cheap furniture products dominating the U.S. market) has amazing positive potential. I like where your journey has led & look forward to checking out your videos About content creation.

Thank you for the tip about numbering the drawers. I had no idea and I’m dealing with a piece right now where the drawers are not going in the way they came out. Oops. I’m also painting the body because I am way too lazy to sand the whole thing and I’m not dealing with all wood. I’m dealing with particleboard, but it does look like wood so I used the au aunatural a little water, and I added farmhouse beige from Jolie, mixed it together for my stain and it seems to be coming out pretty nice. It was my old TV stand and I’m using it as an entry table now it has an open center with shelving with three drawers on each side so I thought it would be good for storage. I hope it works. I’m actually gonna paint the body with Dixie Bell, Spanish moss, wish me luck! And I’m also cutting off the bottom and using gold feet for the first time I’ve never done this so a little nervous about that one and I’m changing out the hardware

You make it look so easy. Have a bedroom door from 1956 that has groves in it so going to use wood filler and than strip the varnish off and re-stain. Think I need you to come and HELP! Lol. .

Here it is 2am and I’m researching complimentary colors! Had you considered using the teal stain instead of denim blue? I suppose the moss green would have been too yellowish. I have a matching shaker style dark cherry nightstand and long dresser set that I want to update…. After looking at several videos I think yours sold me on stripping and staining using these products, carbide scrapper here I come!

You wouldn't be able to remove stain from a laminate since it isn't real wood.

Hi, I just found your channel and it has been super helpful!!! I’ve got a dresser and nightstand set from my college days, many years ago, that I want to paint and redo. I’m thinking of going with Dixie bell paints and the pieces are a little lighter than the one in this video. I want to either whitewash the top or do a light stain. Going for a mixture of dried sage and Savannah mist colors and maybe the grey wax as a top coat. I have two questions: 1) after scuff sanding should I prime? 2) Can you use wax as topcoat and then add a clear coat for additional protection? I’m thinking the wax might repel the top coat. 3) How much paint would a chest of drawers and nightstand take in paint? Not sure how much to order. 4) Can you mix colors with the Dixie belle all-in one paint? 5) Can you use the mineral paint on raw wood? That about it for now. lol Thanks and love your channel!!! Will be watching

This piece is just beautiful! You have such great ideas. Question: how many hours of prep work did this piece take? The gel finish remover, then the scraping, then the sanding? It is helpful for us to know how much time these things take! Thanks!

Thanks for watching. This is a great question and always so hard for me to answer because with all the filming I do it really slows me down. The project was about 4 days of work, so without the filming it was probably around 5-6 hours of work.

You can get a similar result from a paint wash- but I think this product is a little easier to get an even result. Especially for beginners.

Quick question. Have you ever bleach a piece of wood furniture that is similar to this? I am curious to know what your thoughts are on that. I have a similar piece of furniture (not as red) bit was considering stripping then bleaching - no stain 🤔

Lots of work sanding but it was worth it! It looks like a maple dresser? I'm asking because I have solid maple furniture I'm debating weather to sand the old orangey finish off completely or just the top. Your video today is making me lean towards sanding it all down. Ugh!!!

I've been so focused on sanding. I didn't really inspect it to try to figure out what kind of wood it was. Maple seems like a good guess. I'll try to investigate this week. Sanding is hard work but so worth it. You can do it!

@ChristinaMuscari thank you! Today, my leaning is toward painting the bottom and sanding the top and top drawer fronts down to bare wood. That's how I flip flop!!! It's cold here in the Toronto area so I have a couple of months before I take it out to the garage to begin and finalize my plan!

I would love this look with my kitchen cabinets. They are a nice solid wood (not oak, possibly pine? They have knott holes) but have gotten orangey since the original owner put them in more than 20 years ago. Is there an easier way to lighten them? Lol
