  A masterpiece. Not easy to listen the first few times, but I've known this piece nearly 45 years and what I came to realise is how "tonal" it is in many places. Excellent performance - a little slower than usual but this works as it gives more time to articulate the complex piano part. Kodama provides great dynamic contrasts.

  @@leonardoiglesias2394 My point is that you should just close your eyes so you can focus on the "20% Music" and maybe comment on that? Any negative comment I read here seems to be about his physique and not about the music. It's perfectly fine to say he didn't handle certain sections correctly. That's a perfectly legitimate opinion. I swear the same people fall in the "Yuja Wang dresses too flashy, and therefore she sucks" category.

  I really like Curretzis and i think he is one of the most interesting conductors of the last few decades with some of his works being AMAZING but why the hell does he have to dress like that?? Was there something wrong with the way conductors used to dress and Curretzis decided to correct it or something??? Too much narcissism im afraid....

  Von der 10. gibt es nur den ersten Satz, da sie unvollendet ist. Also eben nur das Adagio...

  @@RobertoBlanco-i5v Und das ist schlicht Quatsch. Die 10. liegt vom ersten bis zum letzten Takt in Skizze vor. Und das Argument, nur der erste Satz wäre vollständig ist auch falsch. Denn selbst der ist nur zu 98% fertig orchestriert. Nach dieser Aufführungslogik dürfte man das Mozart Requiem gar nicht aufführen, denn es ist nur zu 2/3 von Mozart und kein einziger seiner Sätze von ihm ausorchestriert. Warum führt man das in von fremder Hand vollendet auf, und weigert sich bei Mahler das gleiche zu tun, obwohl da im Gegensatz zum Mozart das Werk vollständig skizziert ist?

  @@RobertoBlanco-i5v Komplett falsch. Die 10. liegt vollständig in Skizze vor. Vom ersten Takt des Adagios bis zum letzten des Finales. Wenn man das Mozart Requiem aufführt, das nur zu 2/3 von Mozart ist und der nicht mal einen einzigen Satz davon zu Ende orchestriert hat, dann gibt es keinen Grund bei Mahler's 10. nur das Adagio zu spielen mit der Ausrede, es wäre ja der einzige vollendete Satz.

  This concerto is another example of how many great works in the field of so-called “classical” music are way under performed because, dare I say it, of the sheer ignorance by a public who are too lazy to explore the wealth of compositions beyond what they know, content with repeated hearings of the same works over and over again. Fortunately KZread is available to right this situation if anyone can be bothered to expand their knowledge.
