Im 50. Started watching the Celtics and the NBA in 1981. I always defend the older players and truly feel if you can play then you can play. But when I see Don Nelson take a free throw - that is when I wonder :) Thank you for the great footage. The Forum looks so different to me than it did in the 80's. But I guess everything looked different - including Nelson's free throw form.

In game 2, the Bulls got their first ever road playoff win as a franchise, beating these Pistons, and by game 7, Bulls got their first ever playoff series win. How fitting cause in the next decade and a half, the Michael Jordan Bulls got their first road playoff win vs the Pistons in game 2 1988 semifinals at the Old Pontiac Silverdome, and three yrs later, the Bulls defeated the Pistons to go to their first ever NBA Finals.

Wow! This is amazing! Its extremely rare to see any Lakers game during the 1972 season, especially with Chick Hearn broadcasting on our local ktla channel! Too bad the film quality isnt better but I'll still take it! I was a kid in the 70's living in Los Angeles and Goodrich, West and Chamberlain were my sports idiols.

The 1971-'72 Phoenix Suns are still considered today one of, if not the best team ever to have missed the playoffs. 48-34 should have been enough to get them in.

So I've been saying this for years now - cause it is kinda overlooked and forgotten but these 2 teams changed conferences prior to the 80/81 season. And the Bucks actually won 60 games in their first year in the East. Though San Antonio was pretty good as well I don't think they were as good as Milwaukee was from say 81 to 87. I do feel that if Milwaukee had stayed in the West they may have provided the Lakers with a little more consistent threat during those years. Maybe even break through a make a Finals appearance which they just couldn't do in the East with Boston and Philadelphia.

this game took place on march 27, 1989 with detroit winning ugly as usual 90 to 77 beginning at [[10:32]] thomas wanted to walk away, yet dantley physically keeps his right hand on him not letting go, whispering in his ear so none of the nearby players could hear (i wouldn't be surprised if it was death threats considering how furious dantley is, chock full of rage knowing how thomas and mccloskey sandbagged his career)
