  I always assumed the purpose of the tights was to have something between you and the scratchy crotch seams so I don't understand why anyone would even bother wearing it on the outside...

  I've never done ballet, but in my ballroom dance studio we were discouraged from drinking even water, so we kinda don't get distracted, don't feel full and look lean. Same with using the toilet - "why didn't you use it before? (I did, but I wanna again..), it's also a "distraction". Also we weren't allowed to ask or look what time is it, and to anyhow show that we already wanna go home hah
