The film being shown is from a movie about U-boats. It appears that Otto Klemperer (Hogan's Heroes) is portraying the U-boat captain.

My grandfather Harry F Dorley was a machinist mate at the sub base at Pearl He asked to go on a patrol and it was granted with all his sea bags and all his gear ready to go he got word that his wife got sick he was so mad all his stuff had to be unstoned But that was her final patrol they hit a mine all were lost

You can tell a lot of this was pulled straight from Wikipedia without reading or understanding the gear onboard. I can tell you for a fact, none of the radars mention in this video were installed on this battleship during the Korean war... They weren't invented for decades.

Why are people still bragging up the Zumwalt? The program is a failure, primarily because they used a proven failure of a design for the hull. That tumblehome was abandoned by every navy in the world more than 100 years ago, because it's crap. Hull architecture is well understood, there's no reason to go back 100 years to try salvaging a failure. Note that there are zero videos of Zumwalt navigating in heavy seas - the ship will roll over and die in sea state 9 conditions.

To make a "fake" destroyer you need to do more than wrongly classify it. That's incredibly silly. "Oh, these aren't fighter planes on the deck, they're actually flying lifeboats. And these aren't guns, they're actually pez dispensers. In fact this isn't even a ship, it's highschool.

I've always wondered why, at least to my limited knowledge about the situation, why no one in the Navy's ordnance division was either courtmartialed or otherwise faced serious charges for "dereliction of duty, over the torpedo scandal. How many US soldiers and sailors were killed directly or indirectly by ships that should have been artificial reefs early in the war?

I was on the beach in phan thiet. The first sergeant said, look guys the battle ship new Jersey. She turned her guns toward our firebase we were building. I felt the heat of the flames when it fired, them smoke from her barrels. I'm only a mile away. No movie could ever equal that moment in time.

The chinese should be the last ones complaining. They lied about their first carrier as well. It was a russian wreck suposedly bought by a chinese businessman to be retrofitted into a hotel/casino or something, only for it then to be revealed that it was going to be restored and reactivated as an aircraft carrier for the P.L.A.N.
