If this song is not included in the soon to be written and produced Academy award winning movie about Jeff Buckley’s life as he backstokes to his death with joy singing Led Zeppelin, I don’t know if I could recommend it. This performance shows him not just to be a rock and roller. We already knew that from hallelujah, Corpus Christi Carol, and lilac wine, but an amazing figure in the history of all mankind that tragically was gone way too soon. This song shows what could have been. I believe it to be better than John Lennon’s Imagine.

heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? Well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth The minor fall and the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Well your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you She tied you to her kitchen chair She broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips, she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Baby, I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor You know, I used to live alone before I knew you And I've seen your flag on the marble arch And Love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Well, there was a time when you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that to me, do you? But remember, when I moved in you And the holy dove was moving too And every breath, we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Maybe there's a God above But, all I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you? And it's not a cry, that you hear at night It's not somebody, who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Another classical musician chiming in to say what a compelling performance of this piece this is among the many fantastic interpretations. I don’t care what you want to say about rock voices v classical technique. He uses more correct chest mix than most top countertenors working today.

House Of The Rising Sun - Haley Reinhart 1 куплет There is a house in New Orleans They call the rising sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I'm one My mother was a tailor She sewed my new blue jeans My father was a gamblin' man Well, down in New Orleans 8 2 куплет Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and a trunk And the only time he's satisfied Is when he's on a drunk Oh mother oh, tell your children Not to do what I have done Spend your life in sin and misery In the house of the rising sun Well, there is a house in New Orleans They call the rising sun Oh, and it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I'm one And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know Well, I know I'm one

Johnny Red, thank u! Thank u! I never heard this. Sounds very much like this cover might have influenced the overall sound of Jeff Buckley’s song, “The River of Dope”. Want to draw attention to what I believe to be an amazing performance of Jeff Buckley singing “Strange Fruit” on KCRW at 28:11 on. So just “KZread KCRW Jeff Buckley Solo acoustic set” and scroll right to 28:11 on for heinous lyrics but very important historical song (considered one of the most important songs of the past 100 years), and, of course, Jeff Buckley’s version is respectful, heartfelt, amazing!!! Enjoy, if u haven’t heard fans of Jeff Buckley!!

Jeff Buckley’s cover of “Hallelujah” might well be his #1 success. The song was originally composed and recorded by Leonard Cohen in 1984. Buckley began performing “Hallelujah” in and around New York City, closing his live concerts with it. Remarkably, his revved-up audiences would suddenly become as silent as can be. The American performer eventually included it on his 1994 debut album “Grace.” However, the piece did not gain widespread attention until after his untimely demise in 1997, at age 30. 💙🎶💜 May you rest in peace, Jeff Scott Buckley (1966 - 1997)… 🌹
