Richie Hawtin is British-born and Canadian-raised electronic musician and DJ. He became involved with the Detroit Techno second wave in the early 1990s and has been a leading exponent of minimal techno music since the mid-1990s.
He is the mind behind labels Plus 8, MINUS Records and From Our Minds, nurturing a plethora of talent from Speedy J in the early 90s to Gaiser in the 2010s. Meanwhile, as a performing artist, he is constantly pushing conceptual frontiers, moving things forward, welcoming as many as he can to ideas and experiences that would have seemed pure science fiction when he began his career. Richie Hawtin will, as ever, be revelling in the possibilities of whatever comes next...

I remember hearing Richie at Club UK (Wandsworth, London) back in 94 when he was absolutely fucking terrible. He used to rip vinyl off the deck and THROW it on the back shelf, i am not even joking. He did it with Pump Panel - Ego Acid after he fucked the mix up. At the time Plus 8 was already iconic and he was getting gigs because of his production. Fast forward 30 years and he is quite possibly the best, the speed of Mills with the smoothness of Colin Favour.

Absolutely on another level. Richie is such an incredible techno master at taking you on a sonic adventure with the way he constructs a set. It’s a techno journey. I First saw him in winter 92 in a club called Pure in Edinburgh Scotland & I’ve followed him through the years and the different genres but he’s always been up there with the greatest Techno DJs when he plays this style he’s a legitimate legend. 🔥🕊️🔥
